1And these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and to them were sons born after the flood.
1ノアの子セム、ハム、ヤペテの系図は次のとおりである。洪水の後、彼らに子が生れた。
2The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
2ヤペテの子孫はゴメル、マゴグ、マダイ、ヤワン、トバル、メセク、テラスであった。
3And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
3ゴメルの子孫はアシケナズ、リパテ、トガルマ。
4And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
4ヤワンの子孫はエリシャ、タルシシ、キッテム、ドダニムであった。
5From these came the distribution of the isles of the nations, according to their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
5これらから海沿いの地の国民が分れて、おのおのその土地におり、その言語にしたがい、その氏族にしたがって、その国々に住んだ。
6And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
6ハムの子孫はクシ、ミツライム、プテ、カナンであった。
7And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
7クシの子孫はセバ、ハビラ、サブタ、ラアマ、サブテカであり、ラアマの子孫はシバとデダンであった。
8And Cush begot Nimrod: he began to be mighty on the earth.
8クシの子はニムロデであって、このニムロデは世の権力者となった最初の人である。
9He was a mighty hunter before Jehovah; therefore it is said, As Nimrod, the mighty hunter before Jehovah!
9彼は主の前に力ある狩猟者であった。これから「主の前に力ある狩猟者ニムロデのごとし」ということわざが起った。
10And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
10彼の国は最初シナルの地にあるバベル、エレク、アカデ、カルネであった。
11From that land went out Asshur, and built Nineveh, and Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah,
11彼はその地からアッスリヤに出て、ニネベ、レホボテイリ、カラ、
12and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah: this is the great city.
12およびニネベとカラとの間にある大いなる町レセンを建てた。
13-- And Mizraim begot the Ludim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuhim,
13ミツライムからルデ族、アナミ族、レハビ族、ナフト族、
14and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim, out of whom came the Philistines, and the Caphtorim.
14パテロス族、カスル族、カフトリ族が出た。カフトリ族からペリシテ族が出た。
15-- And Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth,
15カナンからその長子シドンが出て、またヘテが出た。
16and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,
16その他エブスびと、アモリびと、ギルガシびと、
17and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
17ヒビびと、アルキびと、セニびと、
18and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. And afterwards the families of the Canaanites spread themselves abroad.
18アルワデびと、ゼマリびと、ハマテびとが出た。後になってカナンびとの氏族がひろがった。
19And the border of the Canaanite was from Sidon, as one goes to Gerar, up to Gazah; as one goes to Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, up to Lesha.
19カナンびとの境はシドンからゲラルを経てガザに至り、ソドム、ゴモラ、アデマ、ゼボイムを経て、レシャに及んだ。
20These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, in their nations.
20これらはハムの子孫であって、その氏族とその言語とにしたがって、その土地と、その国々にいた。
21And to Shem -- to him also were [sons] born; he is the father of all the sons of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder.
21セムにも子が生れた。セムはエベルのすべての子孫の先祖であって、ヤペテの兄であった。
22The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
22セムの子孫はエラム、アシュル、アルパクサデ、ルデ、アラムであった。
23And the sons of Aram: Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
23アラムの子孫はウヅ、ホル、ゲテル、マシであった。
24-- And Arphaxad begot Shelah; and Shelah begot Eber.
24アルパクサデの子はシラ、シラの子はエベルである。
25And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
25エベルにふたりの子が生れた。そのひとりの名をペレグといった。これは彼の代に地の民が分れたからである。その弟の名をヨクタンといった。
26And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
26ヨクタンにアルモダデ、シャレフ、ハザルマウテ、エラ、
27and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
27ハドラム、ウザル、デクラ、
28and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
28オバル、アビマエル、シバ、
29and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were sons of Joktan.
29オフル、ハビラ、ヨバブが生れた。これらは皆ヨクタンの子であった。
30And their dwelling was from Mesha, as one goes to Sephar, the eastern mountain.
30彼らが住んだ所はメシャから東の山地セパルに及んだ。
31These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
31これらはセムの子孫であって、その氏族とその言語とにしたがって、その土地と、その国々にいた。これらはノアの子らの氏族であって、血統にしたがって国々に住んでいたが、洪水の後、これらから地上の諸国民が分れたのである。
32These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations. And from these came the distribution of the nations on the earth after the flood.
