¹And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I [am] the Almighty ùGod: walk before my face, and be perfect.

¹アブラムの九十九歳の時、主はアブラムに現れて言われた、「わたしは全能の神である。あなたはわたしの前に歩み、全き者であれ。

²And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee.

²わたしはあなたと契約を結び、大いにあなたの子孫を増すであろう」。

³And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying,

³アブラムは、ひれ伏した。神はまた彼に言われた、

⁴It is I: behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.

⁴「わたしはあなたと契約を結ぶ。あなたは多くの国民の父となるであろう。

⁵And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.

⁵あなたの名は、もはやアブラムとは言われず、あなたの名はアブラハムと呼ばれるであろう。わたしはあなたを多くの国民の父とするからである。

⁶And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

⁶わたしはあなたに多くの子孫を得させ、国々の民をあなたから起そう。また、王たちもあなたから出るであろう。

⁷And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.

⁷わたしはあなた及び後の代々の子孫と契約を立てて、永遠の契約とし、あなたと後の子孫との神となるであろう。

⁸And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them.

⁸わたしはあなたと後の子孫とにあなたの宿っているこの地、すなわちカナンの全地を永久の所有として与える。そしてわたしは彼らの神となるであろう」。

⁹And God said to Abraham, And [as for] thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations.

⁹神はまたアブラハムに言われた、「あなたと後の子孫とは共に代々わたしの契約を守らなければならない。あなたがたのうち

¹⁰This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee -- that every male among you be circumcised.

¹⁰男子はみな割礼をうけなければならない。これはわたしとあなたがた及び後の子孫との間のわたしの契約であって、あなたがたの守るべきものである。

¹¹And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and [that] shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.

¹¹あなたがたは前の皮に割礼を受けなければならない。それがわたしとあなたがたとの間の契約のしるしとなるであろう。

¹²And at eight days old shall every male in your generations be circumcised among you -- he who is born in the house, and he who is bought with money, any stranger who is not of thy seed.

¹²あなたがたのうちの男子はみな代々、家に生れた者も、また異邦人から銀で買い取った、あなたの子孫でない者も、生れて八日目に割礼を受けなければならない。

¹³He who is born in thy house, and he who is bought with thy money, must be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

¹³あなたの家に生れた者も、あなたが銀で買い取った者も必ず割礼を受けなければならない。こうしてわたしの契約はあなたがたの身にあって永遠の契約となるであろう。

¹⁴And the uncircumcised male who hath not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples: he hath broken my covenant.

¹⁴割礼を受けない男子、すなわち前の皮を切らない者はわたしの契約を破るゆえ、その人は民のうちから断たれるであろう」。

¹⁵And God said to Abraham, [As to] Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

¹⁵神はまたアブラハムに言われた、「あなたの妻サライは、もはや名をサライといわず、名をサラと言いなさい。

¹⁶And I will bless her, and I will give thee a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her.

¹⁶わたしは彼女を祝福し、また彼女によって、あなたにひとりの男の子を授けよう。わたしは彼女を祝福し、彼女を国々の民の母としよう。彼女から、もろもろの民の王たちが出るであろう」。

¹⁷And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall [a child] be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

¹⁷アブラハムはひれ伏して笑い、心の中で言った、「百歳の者にどうして子が生れよう。サラはまた九十歳にもなって、どうして産むことができようか」。

¹⁸And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee!

¹⁸そしてアブラハムは神に言った、「どうかイシマエルがあなたの前に生きながらえますように」。

¹⁹And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

¹⁹神は言われた、「いや、あなたの妻サラはあなたに男の子を産むでしょう。名をイサクと名づけなさい。わたしは彼と契約を立てて、後の子孫のために永遠の契約としよう。

²⁰And for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

²⁰またイシマエルについてはあなたの願いを聞いた。わたしは彼を祝福して多くの子孫を得させ、大いにそれを増すであろう。彼は十二人の君たちを生むであろう。わたしは彼を大いなる国民としよう。

²¹But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year.

²¹しかしわたしは来年の今ごろサラがあなたに産むイサクと、わたしの契約を立てるであろう」。

²²And he left off talking with him; and God went up from Abraham.

²²神はアブラハムと語り終え、彼を離れて、のぼられた。

²³And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money -- every male among the people of Abraham's house -- and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as God had said to him.

²³アブラハムは神が自分に言われたように、この日その子イシマエルと、すべて家に生れた者およびすべて銀で買い取った者、すなわちアブラハムの家の人々のうち、すべての男子を連れてきて、前の皮に割礼を施した。

²⁴And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

²⁴アブラハムが前の皮に割礼を受けた時は九十九歳、

²⁵And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

²⁵その子イシマエルが前の皮に割礼を受けた時は十三歳であった。

²⁶In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son;

²⁶この日アブラハムとその子イシマエルは割礼を受けた。またその家の人々は家に生れた者も、銀で異邦人から買い取った者も皆、彼と共に割礼を受けた。

²⁷and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

²⁷またその家の人々は家に生れた者も、銀で異邦人から買い取った者も皆、彼と共に割礼を受けた。
