¹{To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} O God of my praise, be not silent:

¹わたしのほめたたえる神よ、もださないでください。

²For the mouth of the wicked [man] and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue,

²彼らは悪しき口と欺きの口をあけて、わたしにむかい、偽りの舌をもってわたしに語り、

³And with words of hatred have they encompassed me; and they fight against me without a cause.

³恨みの言葉をもってわたしを囲み、ゆえなくわたしを攻めるのです。

⁴For my love they are mine adversaries; but I [give myself unto] prayer.

⁴彼らはわが愛にむくいて、わたしを非難します。しかしわたしは彼らのために祈ります。

⁵And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

⁵彼らは悪をもってわが善に報い、恨みをもってわが愛に報いるのです。

⁶Set a wicked [man] over him, and let [the] adversary stand at his right hand;

⁶彼の上に悪しき人を立て、訴える者に彼を訴えさせてください。

⁷When he shall be judged, let him go out guilty, and let his prayer become sin;

⁷彼がさばかれるとき、彼を罪ある者とし、その祈を罪に変えてください。

⁸Let his days be few, let another take his office;

⁸その日を少なくし、その財産をほかの人にとらせ、

⁹Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow;

⁹その子らをみなしごにし、その妻をやもめにしてください。

¹⁰Let his sons be vagabonds and beg, and let them seek [their bread] far from their desolate places;

¹⁰その子らを放浪者として施しをこわせ、その荒れたすまいから追い出させてください。

¹¹Let the usurer cast the net over all that he hath, and let strangers despoil his labour;

¹¹彼が持っているすべての物を債主に奪わせ、その勤労の実をほかの人にかすめさせてください。

¹²Let there be none to extend kindness unto him, neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children;

¹²彼にいつくしみを施す者はひとりもなく、またそのみなしごをあわれむ者もなく、

¹³Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out:

¹³その子孫を絶えさせ、その名を次の代に消し去ってください。

¹⁴Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out;

¹⁴その父たちの不義は主のみ前に覚えられ、その母の罪を消し去らないでください。

¹⁵Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth:

¹⁵それらを常に主のみ前に置き、彼の記憶を地から断ってください。

¹⁶Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him.

¹⁶これは彼がいつくしみを施すことを思わず、かえって貧しい者、乏しい者を責め、心の痛める者を殺そうとしたからです。

¹⁷And he loved cursing; so let it come unto him. And he delighted not in blessing; and let it be far from him.

¹⁷彼はのろうことを好んだ。のろいを彼に臨ませてください。彼は恵むことを喜ばなかった。恵みを彼から遠ざけてください。

¹⁸And he clothed himself with cursing like his vestment; so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones;

¹⁸彼はのろいを衣のように着た。のろいを水のようにその身にしみこませ、油のようにその骨にしみこませてください。

¹⁹Let it be unto him as a garment with which he covereth himself, and for a girdle wherewith he is constantly girded.

¹⁹またそれを自分の着る着物のようにならせ、常に締める帯のようにならせてください。

²⁰Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

²⁰これがわたしを非難する者と、わたしに逆らって悪いことを言う者の主からうける報いとしてください。

²¹But do *thou* for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me:

²¹しかし、わが主なる神よ、あなたはみ名のために、わたしを顧みてください。あなたのいつくしみの深きにより、わたしをお助けください。

²²For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

²²わたしは貧しく、かつ乏しいのです。わたしの心はわがうちに傷ついています。

²³I am gone like a shadow when it lengtheneth; I am tossed about like the locust;

²³わたしは夕日の影のように去りゆき、いなごのように追い払われます。

²⁴My knees are failing through fasting, and my flesh hath lost its fatness;

²⁴わたしのひざは断食によってよろめき、わたしの肉はやせ衰え、

²⁵And I am become a reproach unto them; [when] they look upon me they shake their heads.

²⁵わたしは彼らにそしられる者となりました。彼らはわたしを見ると、頭を振ります。

²⁶Help me, Jehovah my God; save me according to thy loving-kindness:

²⁶わが神、主よ、わたしをお助けください。あなたのいつくしみにしたがって、わたしをお救いください。

²⁷That they may know that this is thy hand; that *thou*, Jehovah, hast done it.

²⁷主よ、これがあなたのみ手のわざであること、あなたがそれをなされたことを、彼らに知らせてください。

²⁸Let *them* curse, but bless *thou*; when they rise up, let them be ashamed, and let thy servant rejoice.

²⁸彼らはのろうけれども、あなたは祝福されます。わたしを攻める者をはずかしめ、あなたのしもべを喜ばせてください。

²⁹Let mine adversaries be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.

²⁹わたしを非難する者にはずかしめを着せ、おのが恥を上着のようにまとわせてください。

³⁰I will greatly celebrate Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

³⁰わたしはわが口をもって大いに主に感謝し、多くの人のなかで主をほめたたえます。主は貧しい者の右に立って、死罪にさだめようとする者から彼を救われるからです。

³¹For he standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.
