¹{To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David.} Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

¹神よ、わたしの祈に耳を傾けてください。わたしの願いを避けて身を隠さないでください。

²Attend unto me, and answer me: I wander about in my plaint, and I moan aloud,

²わたしにみこころをとめ、わたしに答えてください。わたしは悩みによって弱りはて、

³Because of the voice of the enemy; because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me.

³敵の声と、悪しき者のしえたげとによって気が狂いそうです。彼らはわたしに悩みを臨ませ、怒ってわたしを苦しめるからです。

⁴My heart is writhing within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

⁴わたしの心はわがうちにもだえ苦しみ、死の恐れがわたしの上に落ちました。

⁵Fear and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

⁵恐れとおののきがわたしに臨み、はなはだしい恐れがわたしをおおいました。

⁶And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away, and be at rest;

⁶わたしは言います、「どうか、はとのように翼をもちたいものだ。そうすればわたしは飛び去って安きを得るであろう。

⁷Behold, I would flee afar off, I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah;

⁷わたしは遠くのがれ去って、野に宿ろう。〔セラ

⁸I would hasten my escape from the stormy wind, from the tempest.

⁸わたしは急ぎ避難して、はやてとあらしをのがれよう」と。

⁹Swallow [them] up, Lord; divide their tongue: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

⁹主よ、彼らのはかりごとを打ち破ってください。彼らの舌を混乱させてください。わたしは町のうちに暴力と争いとを見るからです。

¹⁰Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; and iniquity and mischief are in the midst of it.

¹⁰彼らは昼も夜も町の城壁の上を歩きめぐり、町のうちには害悪と悩みとがあります。

¹¹Perversities are in the midst thereof; and oppression and deceit depart not from its streets.

¹¹また滅ぼす事が町のうちにあり、しえたげと欺きとはその市場を離れることがありません。

¹²For it is not an enemy that hath reproached me -- then could I have borne it; neither is it he that hateth me that hath magnified [himself] against me -- then would I have hidden myself from him;

¹²わたしをののしる者は敵ではありません。もしそうであるならば忍ぶことができます。わたしにむかって高ぶる者はあだではありません。もしそうであるならば身を隠して彼を避けることができます。

¹³But it was thou, a man mine equal, mine intimate, my familiar friend. ...

¹³しかしそれはあなたです、わたしと同じ者、わたしの同僚、わたしの親しい友です。

¹⁴We who held sweet intercourse together. To the house of God we walked amid the throng.

¹⁴われらはたがいに楽しく語らい、つれだって神の宮に上りました。

¹⁵Let death seize upon them, let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst.

¹⁵どうぞ、死を彼らに臨ませ、生きたままで陰府に下らせ、恐れをもって彼らを墓に去らせてください。

¹⁶As for me, unto God will I call; and Jehovah will save me.

¹⁶しかしわたしが神に呼ばわれば、主はわたしを救われます。

¹⁷Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray and moan aloud; and he will hear my voice.

¹⁷夕べに、あしたに、真昼にわたしが嘆きうめけば、主はわたしの声を聞かれます。

¹⁸He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me: for there were many about me.

¹⁸たといわたしを攻める者が多くとも、主はわたしがたたかう戦いからわたしを安らかに救い出されます。

¹⁹ùGod will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ... because there is no change in them, and they fear not God.

¹⁹昔からみくらに座しておられる神は聞いて彼らを悩まされるでしょう。〔セラ彼らはおきてを守らず、神を恐れないからです。

²⁰He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.

²⁰わたしの友はその親しき者に手を伸ばして、その契約を破った。

²¹Smooth were the milky [words] of his mouth, but his heart was war; his words were softer than oil, yet are they drawn swords.

²¹その口は牛酪よりもなめらかだが、その心には戦いがある。その言葉は油よりもやわらかだが、それは抜いたつるぎである。

²²Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and *he* will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

²²あなたの荷を主にゆだねよ。主はあなたをささえられる。主は正しい人の動かされるのを決してゆるされない。しかし主よ、あなたは彼らを滅びの穴に投げ入れられます。血を流す者と欺く者とはおのが日の半ばも生きながらえることはできません。しかしわたしはあなたに寄り頼みます。

²³And thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. But as for me, I will confide in thee.

²³しかし主よ、あなたは彼らを滅びの穴に投げ入れられます。血を流す者と欺く者とはおのが日の半ばも生きながらえることはできません。しかしわたしはあなたに寄り頼みます。
