¹{A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah.} O God, thou art my ùGod; early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh languisheth for thee, in a dry and weary land without water:

¹神よ、あなたはわたしの神、わたしは切にあなたをたずね求め、わが魂はあなたをかわき望む。水なき、かわき衰えた地にあるように、わが肉体はあなたを慕いこがれる。

²To see thy power and thy glory, as I have beheld thee in the sanctuary;

²それでわたしはあなたの力と栄えとを見ようと、聖所にあって目をあなたに注いだ。

³For thy loving-kindness is better than life: my lips shall praise thee.

³あなたのいつくしみは、いのちにもまさるゆえ、わがくちびるはあなたをほめたたえる。

⁴So will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name.

⁴わたしは生きながらえる間、あなたをほめ、手をあげて、み名を呼びまつる。

⁵My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise [thee] with joyful lips.

⁵わたしが床の上であなたを思いだし、夜のふけるままにあなたを深く思うとき、わたしの魂は髄とあぶらとをもってもてなされるように飽き足り、わたしの口は喜びのくちびるをもってあなたをほめたたえる。

⁶When I remember thee upon my bed, I meditate on thee in the night-watches:

⁶あなたはわたしの助けとなられたゆえ、わたしはあなたの翼の陰で喜び歌う。

⁷For thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings will I sing for joy.

⁷わたしの魂はあなたにすがりつき、あなたの右の手はわたしをささえられる。

⁸My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

⁸しかしわたしの魂を滅ぼそうとたずね求める者は地の深き所に行き、

⁹But those that seek my soul, to destroy [it], shall go into the lower parts of the earth;

⁹つるぎの力にわたされ、山犬のえじきとなる。しかし王は神にあって喜び、神によって誓う者はみな誇ることができる。偽りを言う者の口はふさがれるからである。

¹⁰They shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be the portion of foxes.

¹¹But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
