¹And Job answered and said,

²Hear attentively my speech, and let this replace your consolations.

³Suffer me and I will speak; and after I have spoken, mock on!

³Mandefera amiko ianareo, fa mba hiteny kosa aho izao; Ary rehefa tapitra ny teniko, dia mandatsalatsà ihany indray ianareo.

⁴As for me, is my complaint to a man? or wherefore should not my spirit be impatient?

⁴Raha ny amiko, moa ny ataon'ny olona va no itarainako? Ary raha izany, nahoana no hahalefitra ny fanahiko?

⁵Mark me, and be astonished, and lay the hand upon the mouth.

⁵Jereo aho, dia aoka ho talanjona ianareo, ary mitampena vava.

⁶Even when I think [thereon], I am affrighted, and trembling taketh hold of my flesh.

⁶Eny, raha mahatsiaro izany aho, dia raiki-tahotra, sady toran-kovitra ny tenako:

⁷Wherefore do the wicked live, grow old, yea, become mighty in power?

⁷Nahoana no velona ny ratsy fanahy ka sady tratrantitra no be hery?

⁸Their seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

⁸Ny zanany koa mitomoetra tsara eo anatrehany, ary ny zafiny eo anoloany.

⁹Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of +God upon them.

⁹Ny ankohonany miadana ka tsy manan-tahotra, ary ny tsorakazon'Andriamanitra tsy mamely azy.

¹⁰Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

¹⁰Ny ombilahiny mampiteraka ka mahavanona; Ny ombivaviny miteraka ka tsy mamotsotra.

¹¹They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

¹¹Mamoaka ny zanany madinika toy ny ondry aman'osy izy, ka mikoriana ny zanany.

¹²They shout to the tambour and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.

¹²Mihoby mitondra ampongatapaka sy lokanga izy ary mifaly amin'ny feon-tsodina.

¹³They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol.

¹³Mandany ny androny amin'ny fahafinaretana izy; Amin'ny indray mipi-maso monja no idinany any amin'ny fiainan-tsi-hita.[Heb. Sheola]

¹⁴And they say unto ùGod, Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways!

¹⁴Kanefa anie ireo no manao amin'Andriamanitra hoe: Mialà aminay! Fa tsy mba irinay ny hahalala ny lalanao.

¹⁵What is the Almighty that we should serve him? and what are we profited if we pray unto him?

¹⁵Zinona izay Tsitoha, no hotompoinay? Ary inona no soa ho azonay, raha mivavaka aminy?

¹⁶Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked be far from me!

¹⁶Indro, tsy avy amin'ny tenany ihany ny fahafinaretany! Ho lavitra ahy anie ny fisainan'ny ratsy fanahy![Heb. tsy eo an-tànany]

¹⁷How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and cometh their calamity upon them? Doth he distribute sorrows [to them] in his anger?

¹⁷Indraindray foana no mba maty ny jiron'ny ratsy fanahy, sy tonga ny loza manjo azy. Ary amelaran'Andriamanitra fandrika ireny noho ny fahatezerany,[Na: izaran'Andriamanitra fahoriana ho an'ireny]

¹⁸Do they become as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away?

¹⁸Ka tonga tahaka ny mololo voatetika indaosin'ny rivotra izy sy tahaka ny akofa entin'ny tafio-drivotra.

¹⁹+God layeth up [the punishment of] his iniquity for his children; he rewardeth him, and he shall know [it]:

¹⁹Andriamanitra, hoy ianareo, mbola hampijaly ny zanany noho ny helodrainy! Tsia; fa ny tenan'ireny ihany no aoka hovaliany, mba hahalalany.

²⁰His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the fury of the Almighty.

²⁰Aoka ny masony ihany no hahita ny loza manjo azy, ary aoka ny tenany ihany no hisotro ny fahatezeran'ny Tsitoha.

²¹For what pleasure should he have in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?

²¹Fa mampaninona azy moa ny amin'ny taranany mandimby azy, raha tapaka ny isan'ny androny?

²²Can any teach ùGod knowledge? And he it is that judgeth those that are high.

²²Moa Andriamanitra va no hampianarim-pahalalana, nefa Izy no mitsara ny any an-danitra aza? [Heb. avo]

²³One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;

²³Maty ny anankiray, raha tsy mbola mihena ny fahatanjahany, sady miadana tokoa ka tsy manana ahiahy;

²⁴His sides are full of fat, and the marrow of his bones is moistened;

²⁴Feno ronono ny fitoeran-drononony, ary vonton-tsoka ny taolany.[Na: Manotraka ny kibony]

²⁵And another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath not tasted good:

²⁵Ary ny anankiray maty amin'ny fahorian'ny fanahiny kosa ka tsy mba nanandrana soa akory.

²⁶Together they lie down in the dust, and the worms cover them.

²⁶Samy mandry ao amin'ny vovoka izy roa tonta, ka feno olitra ny tenany.

²⁷Lo, I know your thoughts, and the devices ye wrongfully imagine against me.

²⁷Indro, fantatro ny hevitrareo sy ny saim-petsy amelezanareo ahy;

²⁸For ye say, Where is the house of the noble? and where the tent of the dwellings of the wicked?

²⁸Fa hoy ianareo: Aiza ny tranon'ny mpitohatoha? Ary aiza ny lay fitoeran'ny ratsy fanahy? [Na: Manotraka ny kibony]

²⁹Have ye not asked the wayfarers? and do ye not regard their tokens:

²⁹Kanefa tsy mba nanontany tamin'ny mpandeha amin'ny tany lavitra va ianareo? Ary tsy heverinareo va ny zava-mahagaga, ambaran'Ireo hoe: [Heb. famantarana]

³⁰That the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity? They are led forth to the day of wrath.

³⁰Amin'ny andro hahitan-doza dia voaaro ihany ny ratsy fanahy, ary amin'ny andro fahatezerana dia enti-miala izy?

³¹Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

³¹Iza no hanambara ny lalany eo anatrehany? Ary raha misy zavatra nataony, iza no sahy hamaly azy? [Na: Azy]

³²Yet is he carried to the graves, and watch is kept over the tomb.

³²Ary ho entina ho eny an-tany fandevonana izy ka mbola hitazana ao am-pasana;[Na: mbola misy miambina]

³³The clods of the valley are sweet unto him; and every man followeth suit after him, as there were innumerable before him.

³³Ho mamy aminy ny bainga any an-dohasaha, ary ny olona rehetra hanaraka azy, toy ny nandehanan'ny maro tany alohany.Endrey! ity ianareo mba mampionona ahy foana! Ary ny famalianareo anefa, raha voasana tsara, dia lainga ihany!

³⁴How then comfort ye me in vain? Your answers remain perfidious.
