¹And he said also to [his] disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and *he* was accused to him as wasting his goods.

¹Ary hoy koa Jesosy tamin'ny mpianatra: Nisy olona manan-karena anankiray nanana mpitandrina ny fananany; ary ilehiny dia nampangain'olona taminy fa mandany ny fananany.

²And having called him, he said to him, What [is] this that I hear of thee? give the reckoning of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward.

²Ary nampaka azy izy ka nanao taminy hoe: Ahoana izao fandrenesako anao izao? Mamoaha ny amin'ny fitandremanao ny fananako; fa tsy mahazo mitandrina ny fananako intsony ianao.

³And the steward said within himself, What shall I do; for my lord is taking the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig; I am ashamed to beg.

³Ary ilay mpitandrina ny fananana nanao anakampo hoe: Inona ange no hataoko, fa esorin'ny tompoko amin'ny fitandremana ny fananany aho? Ny miasa tany tsy tratry ny aiko; ny mangataka mahamenatra ahy.

⁴I know what I will do, that when I shall have been removed from the stewardship I may be received into their houses.

⁴Fantatro izay hataoko, mba hisy handray ahy ho ao an-tranony, rehefa voaisotra amin'ny fitandremana ny fananana aho.

⁵And having called to [him] each one of the debtors of his own lord, he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?

⁵Dia niantso izay rehetra nitrosa tamin'ny tompony izy hankao aminy ka nanao tamin'ny voalohany hoe: Hoatrinona no trosan'ny tompoko aminao?

⁶And he said, A hundred baths of oil. And he said to him, Take thy writing and sit down quickly and write fifty.

⁶Ary hoy io: Diloilo injaton'ny famarana. Dia hoy izy taminy koa: Inty, raiso ny taratasinao, ary mipetraha faingana, ka dimam-polo no soraty. [Gr. bata]

⁷Then he said to another, And thou, how much dost thou owe? And he said, A hundred cors of wheat. And he says to him, Take thy writing and write eighty.

⁷Dia hoy izy tamin'ny anankiray koa: Hoatrinona kosa no trosa aminao? Ary hoy izy: Vary injaton'ny famarana. Dia hoy izy taminy koa: Inty, raiso ny taratasinao ka valo-polo no soraty.[Gr. kora]

⁸And the lord praised the unrighteous steward because he had done prudently. For the sons of this world are, for their own generation, more prudent than the sons of light.

⁸Ary ny tompony nidera ilay mpitandrina tsy marina, satria nanan-tsaina izy; fa ny zanak'izao tontolo izao dia manan-tsaina kokoa ny amin'ny karazany noho ny zanaky ny mazava.

⁹And *I* say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the mammon of unrighteousness, that when it fails ye may be received into the eternal tabernacles.

⁹Ary hoy Izaho aminareo: Aoka ny mamôna tsy marina ho entinareo mahazo sakaiza, mba horaisin'ireo ho any amin'ny fonenana mandrakizay ianareo, rehefa lany izany.

¹⁰He that is faithful in the least is faithful also in much; and he that is unrighteous in the least is unrighteous also in much.

¹⁰Ary izay mahatoky amin'ny kely indrindra dia mahatoky koa amin'ny be; ary izay tsy marina amin'ny kely indrindra dia tsy marina koa amin'ny be.

¹¹If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who shall entrust to you the true?

¹¹Koa raha tsy mahatoky amin'ny mamôna tsy marina ianareo, iza no hatoky anareo ny amin'ny tena harena?

¹²and if ye have not been faithful in that which is another's, who shall give to you your own?

¹²Ary raha tsy mahatoky amin'izay an'olona ianareo, iza no hanome anareo izay anareo?

¹³No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will cleave to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

¹³Tsy misy mpanompo mahay manompo tompo roa; fa ny anankiray ho halany, ary anankiray ho tiany; na ny anankiray hombany, ary ny anankiray hohamavoiny. Tsy mahay manompo an'Andriamanitra sy mamôna ianareo.

¹⁴And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things, and mocked him.

¹⁴Ary ny Fariseo, izay fatra-pitia vola, raha nandre izany rehetra izay, dia naneso an'i Jesosy.

¹⁵And he said to them, *Ye* are they who justify themselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what amongst men is highly thought of is an abomination before God.

¹⁵Ary hoy Jesosy taminy: Hianareo dia mpanamarin-tena eo anatrehan'ny olona, nefa Andriamanitra mahalala ny fonareo; fa izay zavatra heverin'ny olona ho ambony dia fahavetavetana eo anatrehan'Andriamanitra.

¹⁶The law and the prophets [were] until John: from that time the glad tidings of the kingdom of God are announced, and every one forces his way into it.

¹⁶Ny lalàna sy ny mpaminany dia hatramin'i Jaona; ary hatramin'izany no efa nitoriana ny filazantsaran'ny fanjakan'Andriamanitra, ary misesika izay rehetra miditra eo.

¹⁷But it is easier that the heaven and the earth should pass away than that one tittle of the law should fail.

¹⁷Fa ho moramora kokoa ny hahafoanan'ny lanitra sy ny tany noho ny hahafoanan'ny tendron-tsoratra iray monja aza amin'ny lalàna.

¹⁸Every one who puts away his wife and marries another commits adultery; and every one that marries one put away from a husband commits adultery.

¹⁸Izay rehetra misao-bady ka mampakatra ny hafa dia mijangajanga; ary izay mampakatra vehivavy voasaotra dia mijangajanga koa.

¹⁹Now there was a rich man and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, making good cheer in splendour every day.

¹⁹Nisy lehilahy manan-karena anankiray niakanjo volomparasy sy rongony fotsy madinika sady nanaram-po fatratra isan'andro tamin'ny fahafinaretana.

²⁰And [there was] a poor man, by name Lazarus, [who] was laid at his gateway full of sores,

²⁰Ary nisy olo-malahelo ferena anankiray atao hoe Lazarosy napetraka teo anilan'ny vavahadiny;

²¹and desiring to be filled with the crumbs which fell from the table of the rich man; but the dogs also coming licked his sores.

²¹ary naniry mba hihinana izay latsaka avy tamin'ny latabatr'ilay manan-karena izy, fa ny alika kosa no avy ka nilelaka ny feriny.[Na: ary ny alika koa dia avy]

²²And it came to pass that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the angels into the bosom of Abraham. And the rich man also died and was buried.

²²Ary maty ilay malahelo, dia nentin'ny anjely ho any an-tratran'i Abrahama; ary maty koa ilay manan-karena, dia nalevina;

²³And in hades lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

²³ary raha nijaly tao amin'ny fiainan-tsi-hita izy ka niandrandra, dia nahita an'i Abrahama teny lavitra eny sy Lazarosy teo an-tratrany.[Gr. Hadesy]

²⁴And he crying out said, Father Abraham, have compassion on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame.

²⁴Ary izy niantso ka nanao hoe: Ry Abrahama raiko ô, mamindrà fo amiko, ka iraho Lazarosy mba hanoboka ny tendron'ny rantsan-tanany amin'ny rano mba hampangatsiaka ny lelako; fa fadiranovana aho eto anatin'ity lelafo ity.

²⁵But Abraham said, Child, recollect that *thou* hast fully received thy good things in thy lifetime, and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted here, and *thou* art in suffering.

²⁵Fa hoy Abrahama: Anaka, tsarovy fa ianao efa nahazo ny zava-tsoanao tamin'ny andro niainanao, ary Lazarosy kosa ny zava-dratsy; fa ankehitriny izy no ampifalinay . ary ianao kosa no fadiranovana.

²⁶And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm is fixed, so that those who desire to pass hence to you cannot, nor do they who [desire to cross] from there pass over unto us.

²⁶Ary mihoatra noho izany rehetra izany, misy tevana makadiry ajadona ao anelanelantsika, mba tsy ho afa-mita hankeny aminareo izay te-hiala etỳ, ary ny ho afa-mita hanketỳ aminay izay eny.

²⁷And he said, I beseech thee then, father, that thou wouldest send him to the house of my father,

²⁷Dia hoy izy: Mangataka aminao ary aho, ry raiko: mba iraho Lazarosy hankany amin'ny tranon'ny raiko

²⁸for I have five brothers, so that he may earnestly testify to them, that they also may not come to this place of torment.

²⁸(fa manana rahalahy dimy aho), mba hilaza tsara aminy, fandrao mba ho tongay amin'ity fijaliana ity koa izy.

²⁹But Abraham says to him, They have Moses and the prophets: let them hear them.

²⁹Fa hoy Abrahama taminy: Manana an'i Mosesy sy ny mpaminany izy; aoka hihaino ireo izy.

³⁰But he said, Nay, father Abraham, but if one from the dead should go to them, they will repent.

³⁰Fa hoy kosa izy: Tsia, ry Abrahama, raiko; fa raha misy miala amin'ny maty hankany aminy, dia hibebaka izy.Fa hoy Abrahama taminy: Raha tsy mihaino an'i Mosesy sy ny mpaminany izy, dia tsy hety hino izy, na dia misy mitsangana amin'ny maty aza.

³¹And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, not even if one rise from among [the] dead will they be persuaded.

³¹Fa hoy Abrahama taminy: Raha tsy mihaino an'i Mosesy sy ny mpaminany izy, dia tsy hety hino izy, na dia misy mitsangana amin'ny maty aza.
