¹Follow after love, and be emulous of spiritual [manifestations], but rather that ye may prophesy.

¹ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာကို မှီအောင်လိုက်ကြလော့။ ဝိညာဉ်ဆုကျေးဇူးတို့ကို အလွန်အလိုရှိသည်တွင်၊ ပရော ဖက်ပြုရသော အခွင့်ကိုသာ၍ လိုချင်သောစိတ်ရှိ ကြလော့။

²For he that speaks with a tongue does not speak to men but to God: for no one hears; but in spirit he speaks mysteries.

²အကြောင်းမူကား၊ အခြားသောဘာသာစကားအားဖြင့် ပြောသောသူသည် လူတို့အားမပြော၊ ဘုရား သခင်အားပြော၏။ သူ၏စကားကို အဘယ်သူမျှ နားမလည်။ နက်နဲသောအရာတို့ကို ဝိညာဉ်တော်အားဖြင့် ပြော၏။

³But he that prophesies speaks to men [in] edification, and encouragement, and consolation.

³ပရောဖက်ပြုသောသူမူကား၊ တည်ဆောက်ခြင်း၊ တိုက်တွန်းသွေးဆောင်ခြင်း၊ သက်သာခြင်းအလိုငှါ လူတို့အားဟောပြော၏။

⁴He that speaks with a tongue edifies himself; but he that prophesies edifies [the] assembly.

⁴အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားအားဖြင့် ပြောသောသူသည် ကိုယ်ကိုသာ တည်ဆောက်၏။ ပရောဖက် ပြုသောသူမူကား၊ အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်၏။

⁵Now I desire that ye should all speak with tongues, but rather that ye should prophesy. But greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, unless he interpret, that the assembly may receive edification.

⁵သင်တို့ရှိသမျှသည် အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ပြောစေခြင်းငှါ ငါအလိုရှိ၏။ ပရောဖက်ပြုစေခြင်းငှါ သာ၍အလိုရှိ၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ပြောသောသူသည်၊ အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်ခြင်းငှါ အနက်ကို မဘော်မပြလျှင်၊ သူ့ထက်ပရောဖက် ပြုသောသူသည်သာ၍မြတ်သတည်း။

⁶And now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I shall speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophecy, or in teaching?

⁶ညီအစ်ကိုတို့၊ ငါသည် သင်တို့ရှိရာသို့လာ၍ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ဟောပြောသော်လည်း၊ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကိုပြန်ခြင်း၊ ပညာအတတ်ကိုသင်ခြင်း၊ ပရောဖက်ပြုခြင်း၊ ဆုံးမဩဝါဒပေးခြင်းတခုခုကို မပြုဘဲ လျက်၊ သင်တို့အားပြောလျှင် အဘယ်အကျိုးရှိအံ့နည်း။

⁷Even lifeless things giving a sound, whether pipe or harp, if they give not distinction to the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

⁷ထိုနည်းတူ၊ အသံမြည်တတ်သော အဝိညာဏကစောင်း၊ ပုလွေတို့သည် သေချာသောအသံနှင့် မမြည် လျှင်၊ စောင်းသံ၊ ပုလွေသံတို့ကို အဘယ်သို့သိနိုင်မည်နည်း။

⁸For also, if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for war?

⁸တံပိုးခရာသည်လည်း၊ မမှန်သောအသံနှင့် မြည်လျှင်၊ အဘယ်သူသည် စစ်တိုက်ခြင်းငှါ မိမိကိုယ်ကို ပြင်ဆင်မည်နည်း။

⁹Thus also *ye* with the tongue, unless ye give a distinct speech, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye will be speaking to the air.

⁹ထိုနည်းတူ၊ သင်တို့သည် နားလည်လွယ်သော စကားကို နှုတ်ဖြင့် မမြွက်လျှင်၊ မြွက်သောစကားကို အဘယ်သို့သိနိုင်မည်နည်း။ အာကာသကောင်းကင်ကို ပြောသောသူကဲ့သို့ ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။

¹⁰There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of undistinguishable sound.

¹⁰လူပြည်၌ ဘာသာစကားမျိုးတို့သည် ဤမျှ လောက်များ၍၊ ရှိသမျှတို့သည် အနက်နှင့်ပြည့်စုံသည် မှန်စေတော့။

¹¹If therefore I do not know the power of the sound, I shall be to him that speaks a barbarian, and he that speaks a barbarian for me.

¹¹ဘာသာစကား၏အနက်ကို ငါနားမလည်လျှင်၊ ပြောသော သူအားငါသည် လူရိုင်းဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။ ပြော သောသူသည်လည်း၊ ငါ့အား လူရိုင်းဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။

¹²Thus *ye* also, since ye are desirous of spirits, seek that ye may abound for the edification of the assembly.

¹²သို့ဖြစ်၍ သင်တို့သည် ဝိညာဉ်ဆုကျေးဇူးတော်တို့ကို အလွန်အလိုရှိကြသည်တွင်၊ အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်ခြင်းငှါ ကြွယ်ဝပြည့်စုံမည်အကြောင်း ကြိုးစားကြလော့။

¹³Wherefore let him that speaks with a tongue pray that he may interpret.

¹³ထိုကြောင့် အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားကို ပြန်ပြောသော သူသည်၊ အနက်ကိုလည်း ဘော်ပြနိုင်မည် အကြောင်း ဆုတောင်းစေ။

¹⁴For if I pray with a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

¹⁴အဘယ်ကြောင့်နည်းဟူမူကား၊ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ငါဆုတောင်းလျှင်၊ ငါ့စိတ်နှလုံး ဆုတောင်းသော်လည်း၊ ငါ့ဥာဏ်သည် အကျိုးကိုမပေး။

¹⁵What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray also with the understanding; I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing also with the understanding.

¹⁵သို့ဖြစ်လျှင်၊ အဘယ်သို့ပြုရမည်နည်း။ စိတ်နှလုံးနှင့်၎င်း၊ ဥာဏ်နှင့်၎င်း၊ ဆုတောင်းရမည်။ စိတ်နှလုံး နှင့်၎င်း၊ ဥာဏ်နှင့်၎င်း သီချင်းဆိုရမည်။

¹⁶Since otherwise, if thou blessest with [the] spirit, how shall he who fills the place of the simple [Christian] say Amen, at thy giving of thanks, since he does not know what thou sayest?

¹⁶သို့မဟုတ် သင်သည် စိတ်နှလုံးနှင့် ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းသောအခါ၊ မတတ်သော လူစုအဝင်ဖြစ်သော သူသည် သင်၏စကားကို နားမလည်သောကြောင့်၊ ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းခြင်းသို့လိုက်၍၊ အာမင်ဟု အဘယ်သို့ ဝန်ခံနိုင်မည်နည်း။

¹⁷For *thou* indeed givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

¹⁷သင်သည် ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ကောင်းမွန်စွာ ချီးမွမ်းသည် မှန်စေတော့။ အခြားသောသူမူကား၊ တည် ဆောက်ခြင်းအကျိုးမရှိ။

¹⁸I thank God I speak in a tongue more than all of you:

¹⁸ငါသည် သင်တို့ရှိသမျှထက်၊ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ဟောပြောသောအရာကို ထောက်၍၊ ဘုရားသခင်၏ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်း၏။

¹⁹but in [the] assembly I desire to speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others also, [rather] than ten thousand words in a tongue.

¹⁹သို့သော်လည်း၊ အသင်းတော်၌ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် စကားတသောင်းကို ပြောနိုင်သည် ထက်၊ သူတပါးတို့ကို သွန်သင်ခြင်းငှါ စကားငါးခွန်းကို ဥာဏ်နှင့်တကွ ပြောနိုင်သော အခွင့်ကို သာ၍အလိုရှိ၏။

²⁰Brethren, be not children in [your] minds, but in malice be babes; but in [your] minds be grown [men].

²⁰ညီအစ်ကိုတို့၊ သင်တို့သည် ဥာဏ်အရာ၌ သူငယ်မဖြစ်ကြနှင့်။ မတရားသောအမှုအရာ၌ နို့စို့ သူငယ်ဖြစ်ကြလော့။

²¹It is written in the law, By people of other tongues, and by strange lips, will I speak to this people; and neither thus will they hear me, saith the Lord.

²¹ပညတ္တိကျမ်းစာ၌လာသည်ကား၊ အခြားတပါးသောလျှာ၊ အခြားတပါးသောနှုတ်နှင့် ဤလူမျိုးကို ငါပြောမည်။ သို့သော်လည်း သူတို့သည် နားမထောင်ကြဟု ထာဝရဘုရားမိန့်တော်မူ၏။

²²So that tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to unbelievers; but prophecy, not to unbelievers, but to those who believe.

²²သို့ဖြစ်၍ အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားတို့သည် ယုံကြည်သော သူတို့အား နိမိတ်လက္ခဏာဖြစ်သည် မဟုတ်။ မယုံကြည်သောသူတို့အား နိမိတ်လက္ခဏာ ဖြစ်သတည်း။ ပရောဖက်ပြုခြင်းအမှုမူကား၊ မယုံကြည် သော သူတို့အဘို့မဟုတ်၊ ယုံကြည်သော သူတို့အဘို့ ဖြစ်သတည်း။

²³If therefore the whole assembly come together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and simple [persons] enter in, or unbelievers, will not they say ye are mad?

²³ထိုကြောင့် သင်းဝင်သူအပေါင်းတို့သည် စည်းဝေး၍ အခြားသော ဘာသာဖြင့် ဟောပြောလျက် နေကြစဉ်တွင် မယုံကြည်သောသူ၊ မတတ်သောသူသည် ဝင်လာလျှင်၊ သင်တို့ကို သူရူးဖြစ်ကြသည်ဟု ပြောမည် မဟုတ်လော။

²⁴But if all prophesy, and some unbeliever or simple [person] come in, he is convicted of all, he is judged of all;

²⁴သို့မဟုတ် သင်းဝင်သူ အပေါင်းတို့သည် ပရောဖက်ပြု၍ နေကြစဉ်တွင်၊ မယုံကြည်သောသူ၊ မတတ်သောသူသည် ဝင်လာလျှင်၊ သင်းဝင်သူအပေါင်းတို့သည် သူ၏အပြစ်ကို ဘော်ပြ၍ သူ့ကို စစ်ကြောစီရင် ကြ၏။

²⁵the secrets of his heart are manifested; and thus, falling upon [his] face, he will do homage to God, reporting that God is indeed amongst you.

²⁵ထိုသို့သူ၏ စိတ်နှလုံး၌ မထင်ရှားသောအရာတို့သည် ထင်ရှားပြန်၍ သူသည် ပြပ်ဝပ်လျက်၊ ဘုရား သခင်ကို ကိုးကွယ်လိမ့်မည်။ ဘုရားသခင်သည် သင်တို့တွင် အမှန်ရှိတော်မူသည်ဟု သက်သေခံလိမ့်မည်။

²⁶What is it then, brethren? whenever ye come together, each [of you] has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done to edification.

²⁶ညီအစ်ကိုတို့၊ အဘယ်သို့နည်း။ သင်တို့စည်းဝေးကြသောအခါ၊ ဆာလံသီချင်းကို ရသောသူ၊ ဆုံးမဩဝါဒ စကားကို ရသောသူ၊ အခြားသောဘာသာစကားကို ရသောသူ၊ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကိုရသောသူ၊ အနက်ဘော်ပြရာ ကိုရသောသူ၊ အသီးအသီးရှိကြသည်ဖြစ်၍၊ ခပ်သိမ်း သောအမှုတို့ကို တည်ဆောက်ခြင်းအလိုငှါ စီရင်ကြ လော့။

²⁷If any one speak with a tongue, [let it be] two, or at the most three, and separately, and let one interpret;

²⁷အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ဟောပြော သော သူရှိလျှင်၊ နှစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်စေ၊ အများဆုံးဆိုသော် သုံးယောက်ဖြစ်စေ၊ တယောက်နောက်တယောက် ပြော၍ တယောက်သောသူသည် အနက်ကိုဘော်ပြစေ။

²⁸but if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in [the] assembly, and let him speak to himself and to God.

²⁸စကားပြန်မရှိလျှင်၊ ဟောပြောသောသူသည် အသင်းတော်၌ တိတ်ဆိတ်စွာနေ၍ မိမိအား၎င်း၊ ဘုရား သခင်အား၎င်း ပြောစေ။

²⁹And let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

²⁹ပရောဖက်နှစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်စေ၊ သုံးယောက် ဖြစ်စေ၊ ဟောပြော၍ အခြားသော သူတို့သည် စစ်ကြော ဆင်ခြင်ကြစေ။

³⁰But if there be a revelation to another sitting [there], let the first be silent.

³⁰ထိုင်လျက်နေသောသူအား တစုံတခုကို ဖွင့်ပြတော်မူလျှင်၊ အရင်ဟောပြောသောသူသည် တိတ်ဆိတ် စွာနေစေ။

³¹For ye can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all be encouraged.

³¹အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ရှိသမျှတို့သည် သင်ခြင်းငှါ၎င်း၊ ရှိသမျှတို့သည် သက်သာခြင်းငှါ၎င်း၊ သင်တို့ အသီးအသီး တယောက်နောက် တယောက်ပရောဖက် ပြုရသော အခွင့်ရှိကြ၏။

³²And spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.

³²ပရောဖက်တို့သည်လည်း၊ မိမိတို့စိတ်ဝိညာဉ်ကို ချုပ်တည်းနိုင်ကြ၏။

³³For God is not [a God] of disorder but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.

³³ဘုရားသခင်သည် ရုန်းရင်းခတ်သောအမှုကို ပြုစုတော်မမူ။ သန့်ရှင်းသူတို့၏ အသင်းတော်အပေါင်း တို့၌ ဖြစ်သကဲ့သို့ အသင့်အတင့် ငြိမ်ဝပ်ခြင်းကို ပြုစုတော်မူ၏။

³⁴Let [your] women be silent in the assemblies, for it is not permitted to them to speak; but to be in subjection, as the law also says.

³⁴သင်တို့၏ မိန်းမတို့သည် အသင်းတော်၌ တိတ်ဆိတ်စွာ နေကြစေ။ သူတို့သည် ဟောပြောရသော အခွင့်မရှိကြ။ ပညတ်တရားစီရင်သည်အတိုင်း သူတို့ သည် ယောက်ျား၏အုပ်စိုးခြင်းကို ဝန်ခံရကြမည်။

³⁵But if they wish to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in assembly.

³⁵မိန်းမတို့သည် တစုံတခုကိုသင်လိုလျှင်၊ အိမ်၌ မိမိခင်ပွန်းတို့ကို မေးမြန်းကြစေ။ မိန်းမသည် အသင်း တော်၌ ဟောပြောလျှင် ရှက်ဘွယ်သော အကြောင်း ဖြစ်၏။

³⁶Did the word of God go out from you, or did it come to you only?

³⁶ဘုရားသခင်၏နှုတ်ကပတ် တရားတော်သည် သင်တို့မှ ထွက်သလော။ သို့မဟုတ် သင်တို့သို့သာ ရောက်သလော။

³⁷If any one thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognise the things that I write to you, that it is [the] Lord's commandment.

³⁷ငါသည်သင်တို့အား ရေး၍ပေးလိုက်သော စကားတို့သည် သခင်ဘုရား၏ ပညတ်တော်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း ကို၊ ပရောဖက်ဖြစ်သောသူ၊ ဝိညာဉ်ဆုကျေးဇူးကို ခံရသောသူမည်သည်ကား ဝန်ခံပါစေ။ တစုံတယောက် သော သူသည် မသိလျှင် မသိဘဲနေစေ။

³⁸But if any be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

³⁸အချုပ်အခြာဟူမူကား၊ ညီအစ်ကိုတို့၊ သင်တို့သည် ပရောဖက် ပြုခြင်းငှါ အလွန်အလိုရှိကြလော့။

³⁹So that, brethren, desire to prophesy, and do not forbid the speaking with tongues.

³⁹အခြားသော ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် ဟောပြောခြင်း အမှုတို့ကိုလည်း မမြစ်တားကြနှင့်။

⁴⁰But let all things be done comelily and with order.

⁴⁰ခပ်သိမ်းသောအမှုကို တင့်တယ်လျောက်ပတ်စွာ အစဉ်အတိုင်း စီရင်ကြလော့။
