14

1The wisdom of women buildeth their house; but folly plucketh it down with her hands.
1Numei pil tengin a in a lama: himahleh mi haiin amah khutin a phel sia.
2He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah; but he that is perverted in his ways despiseth him.
2Amah tanaa omin Toupa a kihtaa: himahleh a lampitea hoihlouin amah a musit hi.
3In the fool's mouth is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
3Mi hai kam sungah kisaktheihna chiang a om: himahleh mi pil mukten huaite a hawi ding hi.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
4Bawngtalte omlouhna ah, anpiakkuang a sianga: himahleh bawngtal hatna jiakin nakpia punna a om.
5A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness uttereth lies.
5Theihpih ginomin juau a gen kei ding: himahleh theihpih juautheiin juau a gen hi.
6A scorner seeketh wisdom, and there is none [for him]; but knowledge is easy unto the intelligent.
6Musittuin pilna a zonga, a mu kei hi: himahleh theihsiamna neia ding in theihna a baih hi.
7Go from the presence of a foolish man, in whom thou perceivest not the lips of knowledge.
7Mihai a omna ah lutin, amah ah theihna mukte na mu kei ding.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way; but the folly of the foolish is deceit.
8Mi pilvang pilna a lampi theihsiam ahia: himahleh mi haite haina khemna ahi.
9Fools make a mock at trespass; but for the upright there is favour.
9Mi haiin mohna a nuihsana: himahleh mi tangte lakah hoih deihna a om hi.
10The heart knoweth its own bitterness, and a stranger doth not intermeddle with its joy.
10Lungtangin amah khatna a theia; huan mikhualin a nuamsakna a tokbuai kei hi.
11The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
11Mi giloute in suksiatin a om ding: himahleh mi tang a pha ding hi.
12There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
12Mihing adia lampi dika kilawm a oma, himahleh huai tawpna sihna lampite ahi.
13Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of mirth is sadness.
13Lungtang nuihna nangawn lungkhamna ahia; huan vualnopna tawpna gikna ahi.
14The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man from what is in himself.
14Lungtanga nungtolhmi amah lampitea damsakin a om ding: huan mi hoih amah maha kipana hihlungkimin a om ding hi.
15The simple believeth every word; but the prudent [man] heedeth his going.
15Mi mawlin thu chih a uma: himahleh mi pilvangin a paina hoihtakin a en hi.
16A wise [man] feareth and departeth from evil; but the foolish is overbearing and confident.
16Mi pilin a kihtaa, gilou akipan a pai mang: himahleh mi haiin musittakin a kipuaa, a kimuang.
17He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of mischievous devices is hated.
17Kuapeuh heh baih haitakin a ta ding: huan ngaihtuah gilou mi huatin a om hi.
18The simple inherit folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
18Mi mawlin haina a luah ding: himahleh mipilvang theihna khuksakin a om ding.
19The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous [man].
19Hoih maah hoihlou a kuna; huan diktat kongpite ah gilou.
20He that is poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
20Genthei amah inveng mahmah muhdahin a om: himahleh hausain lawm tampi a nei hi.
21He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious to the afflicted, happy is he.
21A inveng musitin thil a hihkhiala: himahleh mi genthei hehpih, aman nuam a sa hi.
22Do they not err that devise evil? but loving-kindness and truth are for those that devise good.
22Hoihlou ngaihtuahte a paikhial kei umaw? himahleh chitna leh thutak hoih ngaihtuah kiangah a om ding.
23In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to want.
23Sepgimna tengtengah phatuamna a om: himahleh mukte houlimna taksapna lam kia ah a pai.
24The crown of the wise is their riches; the folly of the foolish is folly.
24Mi pil manglukhu a hausakna uh ahia: himahleh mi haite haina a haina kia uh ahi.
25A true witness delivereth souls; but deceit uttereth lies.
25Theihpih dikin khate a suakta saka: himahleh juaute genin khemna a omsak.
26In the fear of Jehovah is strong confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.
26Toupa kiktakna ah muanna hat a oma: huan a nauten bukna mun a nei ding uh.
27The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from the snares of death.
27Toupa kihtak hinna tuikhuk ahi, sihna thangte akipan paimangna dingin.
28In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince.
28Mipi tamna ah kupipa thupina a om: himahleh mipite omlouhna lal siatna ahi.
29He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
29Kuapeuh a heh hak theihsiamna thupi akipan ahi: himahleh kuapeuh lungtomin haina a tawisang hi.
30A sound heart is the life of the flesh; but envy the rottenness of the bones.
30Lungtang hoih sa hinna ahi: himahleh hajatna guhte muatna ahi.
31He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; but he that honoureth Him is gracious to the needy.
31Kuapeuh genthei nuaisiahin a Bawlpa a simmoh hi: himahleh kuapeuh tasam tunga chitna neiin amah a zah.
32The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.
32Mi gilou a gilou hihnaa paih lutin a oma: himahleh mi diktatin a sihna ah lametna a nei hi.
33Wisdom resteth in the heart of the intelligent [man]; but that which is in the foolish maketh itself known.
33Theihsiamna nei lungtang ah pilna a khawla: himahleh mihaite sunglam panga om kitheihsakin a om.
34Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to peoples.
34Diktatnain nam a tawisanga: himahleh khelhna mi kuapeuh adingin zahlakna ahi.Sikha pil taka gamta lamah kumpipa deihsakna a oma: himahleh zumna omsak tungah a thangpaihna a om hi.
35The king's favour is toward a wise servant; but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
