¹{A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before Jehovah.} Jehovah, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto thee.

¹ خداوندا، دعایم را بشنو و به فریاد من برس.

²Hide not thy face from me: in the day of my trouble, incline thine ear unto me; in the day I call, answer me speedily.

² در روزهای سختی از من روی متاب. به من گوش بده و چون تو را بخوانم، دعایم را هرچه زودتر مستجاب فرما.

³For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a firebrand.

³ زیرا روزهای عمرم مانند دود برباد می‌رود و استخوانهایم مانند آتش می‌‌سوزد.

⁴My heart is smitten and withered like grass; yea, I have forgotten to eat my bread.

⁴ دل من شکسته و مثل کاه خشک و پژمرده شده است. اشتها و میل به غذا ندارم.

⁵By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my flesh.

⁵ از بس ناله کرده‌ام، در بدنم فقط پوست و استخوان باقی مانده است.

⁶I am become like the pelican of the wilderness, I am as an owl in desolate places;

⁶ مثل مرغ وحشی در صحرا و مانند جغد در خرابه‌ها به سر می‌برم.

⁷I watch, and am like a sparrow alone upon the housetop.

⁷ خوابم نمی‌برد، مانند پرنده‌ای بر پشت‌بام، تنها مانده‌ام.

⁸Mine enemies reproach me all the day; they that are mad against me swear by me.

⁸ دشمنانم هر روز مرا سرزنش می‌کنند و مسخره‌كنندگانم مرا لعنت می‌نمایند.

⁹For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

⁹ به‌خاطر خشم و غضب تو، به جای نان، خاکستر می‌خورم و اشکهایم با آبی که می‌نوشم، آمیخته‌اند، زیرا تو مرا بلند كرده و بر زمین زدی.

¹⁰Because of thine indignation and thy wrath; for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

¹⁰ عمرم مانند سایه‌های غروب به سرعت رو به زوال است و همچون گیاه پژمرده می‌شوم.

¹¹My days are like a lengthened-out shadow, and I, I am withered like grass.

¹¹ امّا تاج و تخت تو ای خداوند، ازلی و ابدی است و تمام نسلهای بشر نام تو را به یاد خواهند آورد.

¹²But thou, Jehovah, abidest for ever, and thy memorial from generation to generation.

¹² می‌دانم که تو خواهی آمد و بر صهیون رحم خواهی كرد و اكنون وقت آن است تا وعده‌ای را که داده بودی، عملی کنی، و رحمت خود را نشان بدهی.

¹³*Thou* wilt rise up, thou wilt have mercy upon Zion: for it is the time to be gracious to her, for the set time is come.

¹³ بندگان تو آن را دوست می‌دارند، گرچه ویرانه گشته؛ نسبت به آن رحمت می‌دارند، گرچه خرابه گشته.

¹⁴For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour her dust.

¹⁴ ملل جهان از نام خداوند، و پادشاهان روی زمین، از عظمت و جلال او خواهند ترسید.

¹⁵And the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

¹⁵ هنگامی‌که خداوند صهیون را دوباره آباد ‌کند، جلال و شکوه او آشكار خواهد شد.

¹⁶When Jehovah shall build up Zion, he will appear in his glory.

¹⁶ به زاریِ بیچارگان گوش خواهد داد و دعای ایشان را اجابت خواهد كرد.

¹⁷He will regard the prayer of the destitute one, and not despise their prayer.

¹⁷ این را برای نسلهای آینده بنویسید تا از کارهای خداوند آگاه شوند و کسانی‌که هنوز به دنیا نیامده‌اند، او را بستایند.

¹⁸This shall be written for the generation to come; and a people that shall be created shall praise Jah:

¹⁸ خداوند از جایگاه عالی و مقدّس خود در آسمان به زمین نظر افکنده است.

¹⁹For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from the heavens hath Jehovah beheld the earth,

¹⁹ ناله‌های زندانیان را شنید و آنهایی را که محکوم به مرگ بودند، رهایی بخشید.

²⁰To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those that are appointed to die;

²⁰ در نتیجه نام خداوند در صهیون ذکر خواهد گردید و در اورشلیم او را خواهند پرستید،

²¹That the name of Jehovah may be declared in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,

²¹ وقتی همهٔ اقوام و پادشاهان جهان با هم جمع شوند و او را پرستش نمایند.

²²When the peoples shall be gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.

²² خداوند مرا در جوانی ضعیف و ناتوان ساخت و عمرم را کوتاه کرد.

²³He weakened my strength in the way, he shortened my days.

²³ ای خدا نگذار که اکنون بمیرم، قبل از آنکه به پیری برسم. ای خدا، تو تا به ابد زنده هستی

²⁴I said, My ùGod, take me not away in the midst of my days! ... Thy years are from generation to generation.

²⁴ در ابتدا زمین را آفریدی و آسمانها کار دستهای توست.

²⁵Of old hast thou founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of thy hands:

²⁵ آنها از میان خواهند رفت، امّا تو باقی خواهی ماند. همهٔ آنها همچون لباس، کُهنه خواهند شد و تو آنها را مانند ردا عوض خواهی كرد و دور خواهی انداخت و نابود خواهند شد.

²⁶*They* shall perish, but *thou* continuest; and all of them shall grow old as a garment: as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed.

²⁶ امّا تو همیشه همان هستی و عمر تو، پایانی نخواهد داشت. فرزندان ما، در پناه تو در امان هستند و در زیر سایهٔ حمایت تو، نسل آنها پایدار خواهد بود.

²⁷But thou art the Same, and thy years shall have no end.

²⁷ فرزندان ما، در پناه تو در امان هستند و در زیر سایهٔ حمایت تو، نسل آنها پایدار خواهد بود.

²⁸The children of thy servants shall abide, and their seed shall be established before thee.
