¹{To the chief Musician. On Shoshannim-Eduth. Of Asaph. A Psalm.} Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that sittest [between] the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ ای شبان اسرائیل به ما گوش بده. ای که طایفهٔ یوسف را همانند گلّهٔ گوسفند راهنمایی می‌کنی و بر بالای فرشتگان نگهبان جلوس نموده‌ای، تجلّی فرما.

²Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy strength, and come to our deliverance.

² قدرت خود را بر طایفه‌های افرایم، بنیامین و منسی نمایان ساز و ما را نجات بده.

³O God, restore us; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

³ خدایا، ما را بازآور. بر ما رحم فرما و ما را نجات بده.

⁴Jehovah, God of hosts, how long will thine anger smoke against the prayer of thy people?

⁴ ای خداوند متعال، تا به کی بر قوم خود غضبناک خواهی بود و دعای ما را مستجاب نخواهی کرد؟

⁵Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure:

⁵ غم و غصّه را خوراک ما ساختی و جام ما را از اشک لبریز گرداندی.

⁶Thou hast made us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies mock among themselves.

⁶ سرزمین ما را میدان تاخت و تاز همسایگان ما کردی و دشمنان ما، ما را مسخره می‌کنند.

⁷Restore us, O God of hosts; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

⁷ ای خدای متعال، ما را به پیشگاه خود بازآور. بر ما رحم فرما و ما را نجات بده.

⁸Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt; thou didst cast out the nations, and plant it:

⁸ تو ما را مانند درخت مو از مصر بیرون آوردی و در سرزمین کنعان نشاندی و مردمی را که در آن سرزمین بودند، از آنجا بیرون راندی.

⁹Thou preparedst space before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land;

⁹ آنجا را پاک کردی و قوم تو در آنجا ریشه دوانیده، سراسر آن سرزمین را پُر ساختند.

¹⁰The mountains were covered with its shadow, and the branches thereof were [like] cedars of ùGod;

¹⁰ کوهها را با سایهٔ خود پوشاندند و با شاخه‏‌های خویش درختان سرو را دربر گرفتند.

¹¹It sent out its boughs unto the sea, and its shoots unto the river.

¹¹ شاخه‏‌های خود را تا سواحل دریای مدیترانه از یک سو و تا رود فرات از سوی دیگر گستردند.

¹²Why hast thou broken down its fences, so that all who pass by the way do pluck it?

¹² پس چرا دیوارهای آن را فرو ریختی، تا هر رهگذری میوه‌های آن را بچیند؟

¹³The boar out of the forest doth waste it, and the beast of the field doth feed off it.

¹³ گرازها آن را پایمال کنند و حیوانات وحشی آن را بخورند.

¹⁴O God of hosts, return, we beseech thee; look down from the heavens, and behold, and visit this vine;

¹⁴ ای خدای لشکرها، به سوی ما بازگرد، از آسمان نگاه کن و ببین، و بر این درخت مو توجّه فرما.

¹⁵Even the stock which thy right hand hath planted, and the young plant thou madest strong for thyself.

¹⁵ بیا و این تاکی را که خودت نشاندی، حفظ کن، این تاکی که آن را تنومند نمودی.

¹⁶It is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

¹⁶ دشمنان ما، آن را آتش زدند و ویران کردند، پس آنها را به غضب خود گرفتار کن و از بین ببر.

¹⁷Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou hast made strong for thyself.

¹⁷ امّا از قومی که خودت برگزیده‌ای و قدرت بخشیده‌ای حمایت کن و محافظت فرما.

¹⁸So will we not go back from thee. Revive us, and we will call upon thy name.

¹⁸ ما هرگز دوباره از تو روی بر نمی‌تابیم، ما را زنده نگه‌دار و ما تو را ستایش خواهیم كرد. ای خدای متعال، ما را به پیشگاه خود بازآور. بر ما رحم فرما و ما را نجات بده.

¹⁹Restore us, O Jehovah, God of hosts; cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
