¹{A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.} Lord, *thou* hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.

¹ خداوندا، تو همیشه پناهگاه ما بوده‌ای.

²Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art ùGod.

² پیش از آن که کوهها را بیافرینی و زمین و جهان را به وجود آوری، از ازل خدا بوده‌ای و تا ابد خدا خواهی بود.

³Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.

³ تو آدمیان را به خاک برمی‌گردانی و می‌گویی: «ای فرزندان آدم به خاک بازگردید.»

⁴For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.

⁴ هزاران سال در نظر تو مانند یک روز است، مانند دیروز که گذشته است و مانند پاسی از شب.

⁵Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:

⁵ تو ما را مانند توفان از جا می‌کنی، زندگی ما مانند یک خواب است، مثل گیاهی که صبحگاهان می‌روید،

⁶In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

⁶ صبحگاهان می‌روید و شب هنگام از بین می‌رود.

⁷For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.

⁷ با غضب تو از بین می‌رویم و خشم تو ما را به وحشت می‌اندازد.

⁸Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.

⁸ گناهان ما را در حضور خود گذاشته‌ای و خطاهای پنهانی ما نزد تو آشکار است.

⁹For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.

⁹ غضب تو عمر ما را کوتاه می‌سازد و مانند خیالی به آن خاتمه می‌دهد.

¹⁰The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹⁰ دوران عمر ما هفتاد سال است و یا اگر قویتر باشیم، ممکن است هشتاد سال زندگی کنیم، امّا همهٔ دوران زندگی ما آمیخته با رنج و زحمت است و بزودی به سر می‌رسد و فنا می‌شویم.

¹¹Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?

¹¹ چه کسی می‌تواند میزان خشم تو را بداند؟ چه کسی می‌‌داند که از غضب تو چقدر باید ترسید؟

¹²So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.

¹² به ما تعلیم بده تا بدانیم که دوران عمر ما چقدر کوتاه است، تا شاید عاقل شویم.

¹³Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.

¹³ خداوندا، خشم تو چقدر طول خواهد کشید؟ بر بندگان خود رحم فرما.

¹⁴Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

¹⁴ صبحگاهان دلهای ما را از محبّت پایدار خود لبریز گردان تا عمر خود را با سرود و شادی به سر بریم.

¹⁵Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.

¹⁵ به اندازهٔ روزهایی كه غم نصیب ما کردی، اکنون ما را شادمان ساز.

¹⁶Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.

¹⁶ تا بندگانت کارهای عجیب تو را مشاهده کنند و فرزندان ما قدرت عظیم تو را ببینند. رحمت و لطف تو، ای خدای ما، نصیب ما باد و خدا ما را در تمام كارهایمان برکت دهد!

¹⁷And let the beauty of Jehovah our God be upon us; and establish thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it.

¹⁷ رحمت و لطف تو، ای خدای ما، نصیب ما باد و خدا ما را در تمام كارهایمان برکت دهد!
