1The king's heart in the hand of Jehovah is [as] brooks of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
1Srdce kráľovo v ruke Hospodinovej ako potôčky vody: kamkoľvek chce, ta ho nakloní.
2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; but Jehovah weigheth the hearts.
2Každá cesta človeka je priama v jeho očiach; ale ten, kto zpytuje srdcia, je Hospodin.
3To exercise justice and judgment is more acceptable to Jehovah than sacrifice.
3Činiť spravedlivosť a súd má radšej Hospodin ako obeť.
4Lofty eyes, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
4Vysokosť očí a nadutá širokosť srdca jako i gazdovanie bezbožných je hriech.
5The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty, only to want.
5Myšlienky usilovného vedú iba k zisku; ale každý, kto spiecha, robí to iba na nedostatok.
6The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting breath of them that seek death.
6Poklady, nahromadené lživým jazykom, sú pominuteľnou márnosťou tých, ktorí hľadajú smrť.
7The devastation of the wicked sweepeth them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
7Zkaza bezbožných odvlečie aj ich samých, lebo sa vzpečujú činiť súd.
8Very crooked is the way of a guilty man; but as for the pure, his work is upright.
8Cesta zločinného muža je prevrátená; ale čo do čistého, toho skutok je spravedlivý.
9It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a contentious woman, and a house in common.
9Lepšie je bývať v kúte na streche ako so svárlivou ženou v spoločnom dome.
10The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
10Duša bezbožného žiada zlé; jeho blížny nemá zľutovania v jeho očiach.
11When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise; and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
11Keď trescú posmievača, hlúpy múdreje, a keď poučujú múdreho, priberá známosti.
12One that is righteous wisely considereth the house of the wicked: he overthroweth the wicked to [their] ruin.
12Spravedlivý sa učí na dome bezbožníka, keď Bôh podvracia bezbožných vrhajúc ich do zlého.
13Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also himself shall cry, and shall not be heard.
13Ten, kto zapcháva svoje ucho, aby nepočul kriku chudobného, bude tiež raz volať, ale nebude vyslyšaný.
14A gift in secret pacifieth anger; and a present in the bosom, vehement fury.
14Dar v skrytosti krotí hnev a úplatný dar v lone krutú prchlivosť.
15It is joy to a righteous [man] to do what is right; but it is ruin for the workers of iniquity.
15Spravedlivému je radosťou činiť súd, ale zkazou tým, ktorí páchajú neprávosť.
16The man that wandereth out of the way of wisdom shall abide in the congregation of the dead.
16Človek, ktorý blúdi z cesty rozumnosti, bude odpočívať v shromaždení mŕtvych.
17He that loveth mirth shall be a poor man; he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
17Ten, kto miluje veselosť, býva bedárom: ten, kto miluje víno a olej, nezbohatne.
18The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and a treacherous [man] in the stead of the upright.
18Výkupným za spravedlivého bude bezbožný, a namiesto úprimných bude ten, kto robí neverne.
19It is better to dwell in a desert land. than with a contentious and irritable woman.
19Lepšie je bývať v pustej zemi ako so svárlivou ženou a mrzutou.
20There is costly store and oil in the dwelling of a wise [man]; but a foolish man swalloweth it up.
20Vzácny poklad a olej je v príbytku múdreho; ale človek blázon ho pohlcuje.
21He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
21Ten, kto sa ženie za spravedlivosťou a za milosrdenstvom, najde život, spravedlivosť a slávu.
22A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
22Múdry vyšiel hore do mesta hrdinov a zboril pevnosť, na ktorú sa nadejali.
23Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
23Ten, kto ostríha svoje ústa a svoj jazyk, ostríha svoju dušu od úzkostí.
24Proud, arrogant, scorner is his name who dealeth in proud wrath.
24Pyšný človek nadutý, ktorého meno je posmievač, robí všetko v drzej pýche.
25The desire of the sluggard killeth him; for his hands refuse to work:
25Žiadosť leňocha zabije jeho samého, lebo jeho ruky sa vzpečujú robiť;
26He coveteth greedily all the day long; but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
26každého dňa si dychtivo žiada; ale spravedlivý dáva a neskrblí.
27The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more when they bring it with a wicked purpose!
27Obeť bezbožných je ohavnosťou, čím viacej, keď ju donesie v nešľachetnosti!
28A lying witness shall perish; and a man that heareth shall speak constantly.
28Lživý svedok zahynie, ale človek, ktorý čuje, bude hovoriť vždycky.
29A wicked man hardeneth his face; but as for the upright, he establisheth his way.
29Bezbožný človek je tvrdý vo svojej tvári; ale úprimný uváži a upraví svoju cestu.
30There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel against Jehovah.
30Neni múdrosti ani umnosti ani rady proti Hospodinovi.
31The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but safety is of Jehovah.
31Kôň je pripravený ku dňu boja; ale záchrana je Hospodinova.
