¹{A Prayer of David.} Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry; give ear unto my prayer, which is not out of feigned lips.

¹Modlitba Dávidova. Počuj, Hospodine, spravedlivosť! Pozoruj, prosím, moje volanie! Nakloň svoje uši k mojej modlitbe, ktorej nehovorím falošnými rtami.

²Let my judgment come forth from thy presence, let thine eyes regard equity.

²Môj súd nech vyjde zpred tvojej tvári; nech hľadia tvoje oči na úprimnosť.

³Thou hast proved my heart, thou hast visited me by night; thou hast tried me, thou hast found nothing: my thought goeth not beyond my word.

³Zkúsil si moje srdce; navštívil si vnoci; zkúsil si ma ohňom, ako zkúšajú zlato, a nenašiel si viny. Keď som rozmýšľal, neprekročily moje ústa.

⁴Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept from the paths of the violent [man].

⁴Čo do skutkov človeka, riadil som sa slovom tvojich rtov; ja som sa vystríhal ciest ukrutníka.

⁵When thou holdest my goings in thy paths, my footsteps slip not.

⁵Drž moje kroky na svojich cestách, aby sa neuchýlily moje nohy.

⁶I have called upon thee, for thou answerest me, O ùGod. Incline thine ear unto me, hear my speech.

⁶Ja volám na teba, lebo viem, že ma vyslyšíš, ó, silný Bože! Nakloň mi svoje ucho a počuj moju reč!

⁷Shew wondrously thy loving-kindnesses, O thou that savest by thy right hand them that trust [in thee] from those that rise up [against them].

⁷Preukáž svoju predivnú milosť, ty, ktorý zachraňuješ tých, ktorí sa utiekajú k tebe, zachraňuješ svojou pravicou od tých, ktorí povstávajú proti nim.

⁸Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

⁸Ostríhaj ma jako zrenicu oka; ukry ma v tôni svojich krýdel

⁹From the wicked that destroy me, my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

⁹pred bezbožnými, ktorí ma hubia, pred mojimi smrteľnými nepriateľmi, ktorí ma obkľučujú.

¹⁰They are enclosed in their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly.

¹⁰Zavreli svoje srdce tukom; svojimi ústy hovoria pyšne.

¹¹They have now encompassed us in our steps; their eyes have they set, bowing down to the earth.

¹¹Teraz obkružujú naše kroky; obrátili na nás svoje oči, aby nás porazili na zem.

¹²He is like a lion that is greedy of its prey, and as a young lion lurking in secret places.

¹²Každý z nich je podobný ľvovi, ktorý práhne, aby roztrhal, a ľvíčaťu, ktoré sedí v úkryte čihajúc.

¹³Arise, Jehovah, anticipate him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, thy sword;

¹³Povstaň, ó, Hospodine, predídi ho; zohni ho; vytrhni moju dušu z moci bezbožníka svojím mečom,

¹⁴From men [who are] thy hand, O Jehovah, from men of this age: their portion is in [this] life, and their belly thou fillest with thy hid [treasure]; they have their fill of sons, and leave the rest of their [substance] to their children.

¹⁴od zlých mužov tvoja ruka, Hospodine, od mužov tohoto sveta, ktorí majú svoj podiel v tomto živote, a ktorých brucho naplňuješ zo svojich zásobární; nasýtia sa aj ich synovia, a svoj zbytok zanechajú svojim nemluvňatám.

¹⁵As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

¹⁵Ale ja chcem v spravedlivosti hľadieť na tvoju tvár a nasýtiť sa, keď sa prebudím, tvojím obrazom.
