1Hear this word, a lamentation, which I take up against you, O house of Israel.
1 Ya Israyla dumo, wa maa sanni woone kaŋ ay tunandi araŋ gaa bakaraw hẽeni sabbay se.
2The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more arise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
2 Israyla wandiya kaŋ, a si ye ka tun koyne. A go ganda ga furu nga laabo ra, a sinda mo tunandiko.
3For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, for the house of Israel.
3 Zama yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: «Birno kaŋ alboro zambar fatta a ra, Boro zangu no ga cindi a se, Birno kaŋ alboro zangu fatta a ra mo, Iway no ga cindi Israyla dumo se.»
4For thus saith Jehovah unto the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and ye shall live.
4 Zama haŋ kaŋ Rabbi ci Israyla dumo se neeya: «Wa ay ceeci, araŋ ga funa mo.
5And seek not Bethel, neither go to Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
5 Amma araŋ ma si Betel ceeci, Araŋ ma si furo Jilgal ra, Araŋ ma si bisa mo ka koy Beyer-Seba. Zama daahir Jilgal ga koy tamtaray ra, Betel mo ga ciya kurmu.
6Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour [it], and there be none to quench [it] in Bethel.
6 Wa Rabbi ceeci, araŋ ga funa mo, Zama a ma si bagu ka say Yusufu kunda ra sanda danji cine k'a ŋwa. Faabako si a se mo Betel ra.»
7Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,
7 Araŋ kaŋ ga ciiti bare a ma ciya forti hari, Araŋ go ga adilitaray soote ganda.
8[seek him] that made the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: Jehovah is his name.
8 Handariyayzey kaŋ se i ga ne Dibi, Da handariyayzey kaŋ se i ga ne Aliyo, Wa nga kaŋ n'i te din ceeci, Nga kaŋ ga buuyaŋ biyo bare a ma ciya susubay, A ga zaari mo bare a ma ciya cin kubay, Nga kaŋ ga teeko haro ce k'a gusam laabo batama boŋ, (Rabbi no ga ti a maa).
9He causeth destruction to break forth suddenly upon the strong, and bringeth destruction upon the fortress.
9 Nga no ga kande halaciyaŋ gaabikooney boŋ da jirsi, Hala halaciyaŋ ma kaŋ wongu fuwo boŋ.
10They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
10 I go ga wangu bora kaŋ goono ga kaseetiyaŋ te faada meyey gaa. I go ga cimi ciiko fanta.
11Forasmuch, therefore, as ye trample upon the poor, and take from him presents of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, and ye shall not drink the wine of them.
11 Za kaŋ araŋ goono ga talka taamu, Araŋ goono g'a alkama ta a gaa da hin, Araŋ na tondi jabante windiyaŋ cina, Amma araŋ si goro i ra bo. Araŋ na reyzin* kaliyaŋ tilam kaŋ ga kaan bine se, Amma araŋ si i duvaŋo* haŋ.
12For I know how manifold are your transgressions and your sins mighty: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside [the right of] the needy in the gate.
12 Zama ay n'araŋ taaley baayaŋ d'araŋ zunubey beera mo bay. Araŋ kaŋ ga adilante gurzugandi, Kaŋ ga me-daabu ta, Kaŋ ga alfukaarey bare ka ye faada meyo do zama i ma si du cimi ciiti.
13Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in this time; for it is an evil time.
13 Woodin se binde, boro kaŋ gonda laakal ga dangay zamana woone dumi ra, Zama zamana laalo no.
14Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so Jehovah, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye say.
14 Wa booriyaŋ ceeci, manti ilaalo bo, Zama araŋ ma funa. Yaadin gaa no Rabbi Irikoy, Kundeykoyo ga goro araŋ banda, Sanda mate kaŋ cine araŋ goono ga ci.
15Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
15 Wa konna goy laalo, wa ba goy hanno, Wa cimi ciiti sinji faada meyey ra, Hala hambara Rabbi Irikoy, Kundeykoyo ga suuji te Yusufu banda kaŋ cindi din se.
16Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all broadways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! alas! And they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
16 Woodin se binde, yaa no Rabbi ci, Kundeykoyo, Koy Beero nooya: «Hẽeni go ga te fondo beerey kulu ra, Fondayze kulu gaa mo i go ga ne: ‹Kaari! Kaari!› I go ga alfari ce a ma kaa ka bu baray te, Borey kaŋ yaŋ ga waani hẽeni se mo, I go ga ne i ma kaa hẽeni do.
17And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.
17 Reyzin kaley kulu ra mo i ga hẽ, Zama ay ga gana ni bindo ra.» Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
18Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! To what end is the day of Jehovah for you? It shall be darkness and not light:
18 Kaari araŋ kaŋ ga muraadu nda Rabbi zaaro! Ifo se no araŋ ga ba araŋ ma di Rabbi zaaro? Kubay no fa, manti kaari no.
19as if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
19 Sanda boro kaŋ zuru muusu beeri se, A ma koy ka kubay da urs*. Wala mo a ma furo windi ra ka cinaro naan da nga kambe, Hala gondi m'a kar.
20Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
20 Rabbi zaaro ga ciya kubay, manti kaari no bo, Wala manti yaadin no? E! Manti kubay bi tik no gumo, Kaŋ sinda kaari baa kayna nga ra, wala?
21I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will not smell [a sweet odour] in your solemn assemblies.
21 «Araŋ batey, wala? Ay wang'ey, ay dond'ey! Araŋ marga gaakurantey, ay si maa i kaani.
22For if ye offer up unto me burnt-offerings and your oblations, I will not accept [them]; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fatted beasts.
22 Oho, baa kaŋ araŋ g'araŋ sargayey kaŋ i ga ton, Da ŋwaari sargayey mo te, ay si i ta. Ay si baa araŋ saabuyaŋ sargayey saal mo, Kaŋ yaŋ araŋ ga te da almaney kaŋ i biiri.
23Take away from me the noise of thy songs, and I will not hear the melody of thy lutes;
23 Dooni kosongey, m'i hibandi ay se, Zama ay wangu ya maa ni mooley jindey.
24but let judgment roll down as waters, and righteousness as an ever-flowing stream.
24 Amma araŋ ma naŋ cimi ciiti ma zulli sanda hari cine, Adilitaray mo ma hima sanda isa beeri.
25Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and oblations in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
25 Ya Israyla dumo, jiiri waytaaci ganjo ra, Manti ay se no araŋ goono ga kande sargayyaŋ da nooyaŋey bo.
26Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of your Moloch, and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye had made to yourselves;
26 Araŋ n'araŋ de-koyo* hukumo sambu, Araŋ himandi-himandey, Sanda araŋ tooro handariya nooya, Kaŋ araŋ te araŋ boŋ se.
27and I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts.
27 Woodin se no ay ga naŋ araŋ ma koy tamtaray ra Damaskos jine.» Yaadin no Rabbi ci, Nga kaŋ maa ga ti Irikoy Kundeykoyo.
