Matthew

23

1Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,
1 Gaa no Yesu salaŋ nga talibey da jama marga se.
2saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses' seat:
2 A ne: «Asariya* dondonandikoy da Farisi* fonda borey goono ga goro Musa nango ra.
3all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,
3 Hayey kulu kaŋ i ga ci araŋ se, araŋ m'i gana, araŋ m'i te mo. Day wa si te i goyey cine bo, zama i ga ci no, amma i si ga te.
4but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.
4 Oho, i ga jaraw tiŋoyaŋ haw, kaŋ yaŋ sambuyaŋ ga sandi mo, ka dake borey jasey gaa, amma ngey din si ta k'i buti nda ngey kambayzey baa kayna.
5And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders [of their garments],
5 Amma i ga ngey goyey kulu te no borey ma di se. I ga ngey tira kobtey te itafoyaŋ, ka ngey kwaay bazay-bazey te i ma ku.
6and love the chief place in feasts and the first seats in the synagogues,
6 I ga ba mo jine goray bucey do, da boro beerey nangorayey diina marga* fuwey ra,
7and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
7 da habey ra fooyaŋey mo, borey m'i ce Alfa.
8But *ye*, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all *ye* are brethren.
8 Amma araŋ ma si ta i m'araŋ ce Alfa, zama araŋ alfaga ya afolloŋ no, araŋ mo care nya-izeyaŋ no.
9And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens.
9 Ndunnya ra mo araŋ ma si ne boro kulu se Baaba, zama araŋ Baabo ya afolloŋ no, nga kaŋ go beena ra.
10Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.
10 I ma si ne araŋ se jine boroyaŋ mo, zama araŋ jine bora ya afolloŋ no, nga Almasihu.
11But the greatest of you shall be your servant.
11 Amma araŋ ra bora kaŋ ga ti albeeri ka bisa ikulu, nga no ga ciya araŋ se bannya.
12And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
12 Boro kulu mo kaŋ ga nga boŋ beerandi, i g'a kaynandi. Boro kulu kaŋ ga nga boŋ kaynandi mo, i g'a beerandi.
13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for *ye* do not enter, nor do ye suffer those that are entering to go in.
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye compass the sea and the dry [land] to make one proselyte, and when he is become [such], ye make him twofold more [the] son of hell than yourselves.
16Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
15 Kaari araŋ, asariya dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey, araŋ munaficey! Zama araŋ ga teeko da laabo windi ka ceeci boro folloŋ hinne kaŋ ga furo araŋ diina ra. Day waati kaŋ a ciya yaadin, gaa no araŋ g'a ciya danji bangu ize ka jaase araŋ hala sorro hinka.
17Fools and blind, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple which sanctifies the gold?
16 Kaari araŋ, araŋ danawey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga goobu candi danawyaŋ se! Araŋ ga ne: ‹Boro kulu kaŋ ga ze da Irikoy fuwo, manti hay fo no, amma boro kaŋ ga ze da fuwo wura, kal a zeyaŋo m'a di.›
18And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it is a debtor.
17 Araŋ saamey da danawey! Woofo no ga beeri ka bisa, wura, wala fuwo kaŋ ga wura fay waani?
19[Fools and] blind ones, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifies the gift?
18 Araŋ ga ne mo koyne: ‹Boro kaŋ ga ze da sargay* feema, manti hay fo no, amma boro kaŋ ga ze da sarga kaŋ go feema boŋ, kal a zeyaŋo m'a di.›
20He therefore that swears by the altar swears by it and by all things that are upon it.
19 Araŋ danawey! Woofo no ga bisa beeray, sarga no, wala feema kaŋ ga sarga fay waani?
21And he that swears by the temple swears by it and by him that dwells in it.
20 A binde, boro kaŋ ze da sargay feema, a ze da sarga mo kaŋ go a ra.
22And he that swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him that sits upon it.
21 Boro kaŋ ze da Irikoy fuwo, a ze da nga mo kaŋ go a ra.
23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithes of mint and anise and cummin, and ye have left aside the weightier matters of the law, judgment and mercy and faith: these ye ought to have done and not have left those aside.
22 Koyne, boro kaŋ ze da beene, a koy ze da Irikoy karga, ka margu nda nga kaŋ go a boŋ ga goro mo.
24Blind guides, who strain out the gnat, but drink down the camel.
23 Kaari araŋ, asariya dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey, araŋ munaficey! Zama araŋ ga kori gabu da maari da yaazi zakka kaa, amma araŋ na Tawretu* ra hayey kaŋ yaŋ ga beeri ka bis'ey naŋ, ngey neeya: cimi ciiti nda bakaraw da cimbeeri*. Woone yaŋ no ga hima araŋ m'i te, ya-haray waney mo ma si gaze.
25Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.
24 Araŋ danawyaŋ wo kaŋ goono ga fondo cabe, kaŋ yaŋ ga hamn'ize soolam ka yo gon!
26Blind Pharisee, make clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that their outside also may become clean.
25 Kaari araŋ, asariya dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey, araŋ munaficey! Zama araŋ goono ga gullayze da gaasu banda gaa nyun, amma i ra haray go ga to da zamba da jaŋ-ka-boŋ-hinay.
27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye are like whited sepulchres, which appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
26 Nin, Farisi fonda boro, danaw, ma gullayzo da gaaso ra haray nyun jina, a banda mo ga hanan.
28Thus also *ye*, outwardly ye appear righteous to men, but within are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
27 Kaari araŋ, asariya dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey, araŋ munaficey! Zama araŋ go sanda saaray kwaaranteyaŋ, kaŋ ga nyaale taray haray, amma a ra haray ga to da buuko biri da ziibi kulu dumi.
29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets and adorn the tombs of the just,
28 Yaadin mo no araŋ wo. Taray haray araŋ ga hima sanda boro adilanteyaŋ no borey se, amma araŋ biney ra araŋ to da munaficitaray da izefututaray.
30and ye say, If we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
29 Kaari araŋ, asariya dondonandikoy nda Farisi fonda borey, araŋ munaficey! Zama araŋ goono ga annabey saarayey cina, ka adilantey saarayey taalam.
31So that ye bear witness of yourselves that ye are sons of those who slew the prophets:
30 Araŋ ga ne: ‹D'iri go no iri kaayey jirbey ra, doŋ iri si margu nd'ey ka annabey wi.›
32and *ye*, fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
31 Woodin boŋ no araŋ goono ga te seeda araŋ boŋ se, araŋ ya annabey wiikoy izeyaŋ no.
33Serpents, offspring of vipers, how should ye escape the judgment of hell?
32 Araŋ mo, kal araŋ m'araŋ kaayey bata toonandi.
34Therefore, behold, *I* send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;
33 Araŋ gondiyaŋ wo, gazama izey! Mate no araŋ ga te ka danji bangu ciito yana?
35so that all righteous blood shed upon the earth should come upon *you*, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
34 Woodin se, wa guna. Ay goono ga annabiyaŋ da laakalkooniyaŋ da dondonandikoyaŋ donton araŋ gaa. Afooyaŋ araŋ g'i wi, afooyaŋ mo araŋ g'i kanji. Afooyaŋ mo araŋ g'i barzu no araŋ diina marga fuwey ra, k'i gurzugandi kwaara fo ka koy kwaara fo do.
36Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
35 Zama adilante kulu kaŋ i n'a kuri mun ne ndunnya ra, i m'a alhakko kaa araŋ gaa, za adilanta Habila kuro ka koy Baraciya izo Zakariya kuro, nga kaŋ araŋ wi Irikoy fuwo da sargay feema game ra.
37Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [the city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
36 Haciika ay ga ne araŋ se: hayey din kulu ga kaŋ zamana wo borey boŋ.
38Behold, your house is left unto you desolate;
37 Ya Urusalima*, Urusalima, kaŋ ga annabey wi! Borey kaŋ yaŋ i donton ni do mo, ni g'i catu-catu nda tondiyaŋ! Sorro marge no ay ga ba ya ni izey margu, sanda mate kaŋ cine goroŋo nya ga nga fambu taji margu nga fatey cire, amma araŋ mana ta!
39for I say unto you, Ye shall in no wise see me henceforth until ye say, Blessed [be] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord.
38 Wa guna, i n'araŋ fuwo naŋ araŋ se kurmu.
39 Zama ay ga ne araŋ se: Araŋ si ye ka di ay koyne kal alwaati kaŋ araŋ ga ne: ‹Albarkante no nga kaŋ goono ga kaa Rabbi maa ra.› »
