1But seeing the crowds, he went up into the mountain, and having sat down, his disciples came to him;
1 Alwaato kaŋ Yesu di borey marga, a kaaru tondo boŋ. Kaŋ a goro binde, a talibey kaa a do.
2and, having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,
2 A na nga me feeri k'i dondonandi ka ne:
3Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
3 «Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ mana ngey boŋ lasaabu hala ngey to hay fo, Zama beene koytara ya i wane no.
4Blessed they that mourn, for *they* shall be comforted.
4 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ gonda bine saray, Zama i ga bakar i se.
5Blessed the meek, for *they* shall inherit the earth.
5 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ yaŋ ga lalabu, Zama i ga ndunnya tubu.
6Blessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for *they* shall be filled.
6 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ yaŋ ga ba adilitaray sanda ŋwa da haŋ cine, zama i g'i kungandi.
7Blessed the merciful, for *they* shall find mercy.
7 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ yaŋ ga suuji cabe, Zama i ga du suuji.
8Blessed the pure in heart, for *they* shall see God.
8 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ yaŋ biney ga hanan, Zama i ga di Irikoy.
9Blessed the peace-makers, for *they* shall be called sons of God.
9 Albarkanteyaŋ no sasabandikoy, Zama i ga ne i se Irikoy izeyaŋ.
10Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.
10 Albarkanteyaŋ no ngey kaŋ yaŋ i g'i gurzugandi adilitaray sabbay se, zama beene koytara i wane no.
11Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.
11 Albarkanteyaŋ no araŋ, waati kaŋ i g'araŋ wow, i g'araŋ gurzugandi, tangari boŋ mo i g'araŋ maa ce da izefututaray kulu dumi, ay wo sabbay se.
12Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
12 Araŋ biney ma kaanu, araŋ ma farhã gumo, zama araŋ alhakku beero go beena ra. Zama yaadin cine no i na annabey kaŋ yaŋ n'araŋ jin din gurzugandi nd'a.
13*Ye* are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.
13 Araŋ no ga ti ndunnya ciiri, day da ciiri tar, ifo no i g'a hanse nd'a? Ne ka koy jine a sinda nafa kulu, kal i m'a furu, i m'a taamu borey ce taamey cire.
14*Ye* are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.
14 Araŋ no ga ti ndunnya annura. Kwaara kaŋ go tudu boŋ si tugu.
15Nor do [men] light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.
15 I si fitilla diyandi mo k'a daŋ cilla cire, kala taablo boŋ, hal a ma kaari borey kulu kaŋ yaŋ go fuwo ra se.
16Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
16 Yaadin no araŋ mo. Wa naŋ araŋ annura ma kaari borey jine, zama i ma di araŋ goy hanney, hal i m'araŋ Baabo kaŋ go beena ra beerandi.
17Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.
18 Cimi no ay go ga ci araŋ se: hala day beena nda ganda mana bisa, hay kulu no si daray Tawretu* ra, biir'ize folloŋ wala tomb'ize folloŋ, kala waati kaŋ hay kulu kubay.
19Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach [them], *he* shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
19 Boro kulu mo kaŋ ga lordi kaŋ kayna d'i kulu daaru ka borey dondonandi yaadin, i ga ne a se boro kaŋ bisa ikulu kaynayaŋ beene koytara ra. Amma boro kulu kaŋ g'i te, ka borey dondonandi nd'ey, i ga ne a se ibeeri beene koytara ra.
20For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
20 Zama ay ga ne araŋ se: d'araŋ adilitara mana bisa asariya* dondonandikoy da Farisi fonda borey wano, yaadin gaa araŋ si furo beene koytara ra, baa kayna.
21Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.
21 Araŋ maa i ne doŋ borey se: ‹Ni ma si boro wi. Boro kulu mo kaŋ na boro wi ga furo ciiti kataru ra.›
22But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.
23If therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,
24leave there thy gift before the altar, and first go, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
24 kala ni ma ni sarga naŋ noodin sargay teeyaŋo do. Ni ma koy, nin da ni nya-izo ma saba jina, waato gaa ni ma kaa ka ni sarga salle.
25Make friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
25 Nin da ni yanjekaaro ma saba nda waasi, za araŋ go fonda boŋ.
26Verily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.
26 Haciika ay ga ne ni se: ni si fatta noodin kala da ni n'a kulu bana, baa su* si cindi ni gaa.
27Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
27 Araŋ maa i ne: ‹Ni ma si zina.›
28But *I* say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
28 Amma ay ga ne araŋ se: boro kulu kaŋ na wayboro guna hal a n'a miila, a n'a zina nga bina ra nooya.
29But if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.
30And if thy right hand be a snare to thee, cut it off and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.
30 Da mo ni kambe ŋwaaro ga ni to taali, m'a dumbu k'a furu. Zama dambe ni gaaham jare fo ma halaci, d'i m'a timmanta kulu daŋ danji bango ra.
31It has been said too, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a letter of divorce.
31 I ne koyne: ‹Boro kulu kaŋ ga nga wande fay, kal a m'a no hiijay fayyaŋ tira.›
32But *I* say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.
32 Amma ay ga ne araŋ se: boro kulu kaŋ ga nga wande fay, da manti zina sabbay se no, kulu a n'a daŋ zina fonda ra nooya. Koyne, boro kulu kaŋ ga wayboro fayante hiiji, zina no a go ga te.
33Again, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.
34But *I* say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is [the] throne of God;
34 Amma ay ga ne araŋ se: araŋ ma si ze baa kayna. Hala beena boŋ zama Irikoy karga no,
35nor by the earth, because it is [the] footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of the great King.
35 wala ndunnya boŋ, zama a ce furkange no, wala mo da Urusalima, zama Hina-Kulu-Koyo kwaara no.
36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
36 Ni ma si ze mo da ni boŋ, zama ni si hin ka baa ni gaa-hamni ize fo ye ibi wala ikwaaray.
37But let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.
37 Amma wa naŋ araŋ sanney ma ciya: Oho, oho da hã'a, hã'a. Hay kulu mo kaŋ bisa yaadin, Ilaala* do no a fun.
38Ye have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.
38 Araŋ maa i ne: ‹Mo no ga mo bana, hinje no ga hinje bana.›
39But *I* say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;
40and to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.
40 Boro kaŋ ga ba nga ma konda nin ciiti do ka ni kwaay ta ni gaa, ma ni taafa mo taŋ a se.
41And whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.
41 Boro kulu kaŋ ga ni tilasandi mo ni ma koy kilometar fo, ma koy a banda hala ihinka.
42To him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.
42 Boro kaŋ na ni ŋwaaray mo, m'a no. Boro kaŋ ga ba nga ma garaw sambu ni gaa mo, ma si banda bare a se.
43Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.
43 Araŋ maa i ne: ‹Ni ma ba ni gorokasin, day ni ma konna ni ibare.›
44But *I* say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you,] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you,
45that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.
45 zama araŋ ma ciya araŋ Baabo kaŋ go beena ra izeyaŋ.
46For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?
46 Zama nd'araŋ ga ba araŋ baakoy, yaadin gaa man gaa araŋ alhakko? Manti baa jangal taakoy mo ga woodin te?
47And if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?
47 Wala mo, d'araŋ nya-izey hinne no araŋ ga fo, yaadin gaa ifo no araŋ te kaŋ bisa boro cindey? Manti baa dumi cindey kulu mo ga woodin te bo?
48Be *ye* therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
48 Woodin sabbay se binde, wa ciya toonanteyaŋ sanda mate kaŋ araŋ Baabo kaŋ go beena ra ya toonante no.
