1My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
1 Ay izo, ma hangan ay laakalo se. Ma ni hanga jeeri ay fahama gaa.
2that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
2 Zama ni ma fayankayaŋ gaay, Ni meyo mo ma bayray haggoy.
3For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
3 Zama waykuuru deena ga yu tolli-tolli, A meyo mo ga yuttu nda ji.
4but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
4 Amma a bananta ga fottu no danga farre, A ga dumbu danga takuba me cine.
5Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol.
5 A cey ga zulli ka koy buuyaŋ do, A ce taamey ga Alaahara fonda di.
6Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
6 A si fundi fondo lasaabu. A teerey mo si kay. A mana bay mo hala yaadin no bo.
7And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
7 Sohõ binde ay izey, wa hangan ay se. Araŋ ma si fay d'ay me sanney.
8Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
8 Ma ni fonda moorandi waykuuru, Ma si maan a windo me.
9lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
9 Zama ni ma si ni beera no boro fooyaŋ se, Wala ni jiirey mo futaykooni se.
10lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
10 Zama yawyaŋ ma si kungu nda ni gaabo, Ni goy taabi ma si ye yaw kwaara.
11and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
11 Ni kokora binde, ni ma soobay ka duray, Saaya kaŋ ni baso da ni gaahamo go ga zabu.
12and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
12 Kala ni ma ne: «Kaari ay! Ay kaŋ wangu dondonandiyaŋ, ay bina donda kaseetiyaŋ.
13and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
13 Ay mana baa hangan mo ay dondonandikoy sanno se. Ay mana hanga jeeri bora kaŋ n'ay dondonandi se.
14I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
14 A cindi kayna ay halaci parkatak, Jama bindo ra nda borey marga ra.»
15Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
15 Ma hari kaa ni bumbo gulla ra ka haŋ, Ma hari kaano kaa mo ni bumbo dayo ra.
16Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
16 A ga saba no, ni hari mwa ma zuru ka koy taray, Wala a ma te hari zuru fondey boŋ?
17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
17 I ma bara ni hinne wane, Manti nin da yaw margante wane.
18Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
18 Ni hari mwa ma goro albarkante, Ma te farhã nda ni zankataray wando.
19As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
19 A ma te danga jeeri baakasinaykoy, Danga meena kaŋ ga boori. A fafey ma wasa ni se waati kulu, A baakasina ma ni bina kaanandi han kulu.
20And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
20 Zama ifo se no, ay izo, ni bina ga daray waykuuru banda, Hala ni ma wayboro yaw ganday?
21For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
21 Zama boro te-goyey, Rabbi jine no i go. A ga boro laawaley kulu sasabandi mo.
22His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
22 Boro laalo laalayaŋo ga ye k'a di, I g'a gaay mo da nga zunubi korfey.
23He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
23 A ga bu dondonandiyaŋ-jaŋey sabbay se. A saamotaray beero ra no a ga te boŋdaray.
