¹For this reason we should give heed more abundantly to the things [we have] heard, lest in any way we should slip away.

¹Kwa sababu hiyo tunapaswa kuzingatia kwa makini zaidi yote tuliyosikia, ili tusije tukapotoshwa.

²For if the word which was spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just retribution,

²Ujumbe ule waliopewa wazee wetu na malaika ulionyeshwa kuwa kweli, hata mtu yeyote ambaye hakuufuata au hakuutii aliadhibiwa kama alivyostahili.

³how shall *we* escape if we have been negligent of so great salvation, which, having had its commencement in being spoken [of] by the Lord, has been confirmed to us by those who have heard;

³Basi, sisi tutaokokaje kama hatuujali wokovu mkuu kama huu? Kwanza Bwana mwenyewe aliutangaza wokovu huu, na wale waliomsikia walituthibitishia kwamba ni kweli.

⁴God bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his will?

⁴Mungu pia aliongeza hapo ushahidi wake kwa kufanya kila namna ya miujiza na maajabu, na kwa kuwagawia watu vipaji vya Roho Mtakatifu kadiri ya mapenzi yake.

⁵For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak;

⁵Mungu hakuwaweka malaika wautawale ulimwengu ujao, yaani ulimwengu ule tunaoongea habari zake.

⁶but one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou rememberest him, or son of man that thou visitest him?

⁶Tena yasemwa mahali fulani katika Maandiko: "Mtu ni nini ee Mungu, hata umfikirie; mwanaadamu ni nini hata umjali?

⁷Thou hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, [and hast set him over the works of thy hands;]

⁷Ulimfanya kwa kitambo kidogo kuwa chini zaidi kuliko malaika; ukamvika taji ya utukufu na heshima,

⁸thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in subjecting all things to him, he has left nothing unsubject to him. But now we see not yet all things subjected to *him*,

⁸ukaweka kila kitu chini ya miguu yake, avitawale." Yasemwa kwamba Mungu alimweka mtu kuwa mtawala wa vitu vyote yaani bila kuacha hata kimoja. Hata hivyo, hatuoni bado mtu akivitawala vitu vyote sasa.

⁹but we see Jesus, who [was] made some little inferior to angels on account of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; so that by the grace of God he should taste death for every thing.

⁹Lakini twamwona Yesu ambaye alifanywa kwa kitambo kidogo kuwa chini zaidi kuliko malaika, ili kwa neema ya Mungu afe kwa ajili ya watu wote. Sasa tunamwona ametawazwa kwa utukufu na heshima kwa sababu ya kifo alichoteseka.

¹⁰For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make perfect the leader of their salvation through sufferings.

¹⁰Ilikuwa haki tupu kwamba Mungu, ambaye huumba na kutegemeza vitu vyote, alimfanya Yesu kuwa mkamilifu kabisa kwa njia ya mateso, ili awalete watoto wengi waushiriki utukufu wake. Maana Yesu ndiye anayewaongoza kwenye wokovu.

¹¹For both he that sanctifies and those sanctified [are] all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

¹¹Yeye anawatakasa watu dhambi zao, naye pamoja na wale waliotakaswa, wote wanaye Baba mmoja. Ndiyo maana Yesu haoni aibu kuwaita hao ndugu zake;

¹²saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in [the] midst of [the] assembly will I sing thy praises.

¹²kama asemavyo: "Ee Mungu, nitawatangazia ndugu zangu matendo yako. Nitakusifu katika kusanyiko lao."

¹³And again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God has given me.

¹³Tena asema: "Nitamwekea Mungu tumaini langu." Na tena: "Mimi niko hapa pamoja na watoto alionipa Mungu."

¹⁴Since therefore the children partake of blood and flesh, he also, in like manner, took part in the same, that through death he might annul him who has the might of death, that is, the devil;

¹⁴Basi, kwa vile watoto hao, kama awaitavyo, ni watu wenye mwili na damu, Yesu mwenyewe akawa kama wao na kushiriki ubinadamu wao. Alifanya hivyo ili kwa njia ya kifo chake amwangamize Ibilisi, ambaye ana mamlaka juu ya kifo,

¹⁵and might set free all those who through fear of death through the whole of their life were subject to bondage.

¹⁵na hivyo awaokoe wale waliokuwa watumwa maisha yao yote kwa sababu ya hofu yao ya kifo.

¹⁶For he does not indeed take hold of angels [by the hand], but he takes hold of the seed of Abraham.

¹⁶Maana ni wazi kwamba yeye hakuja kwa ajili ya kuwasaidia malaika, bali kama yasemavyo Maandiko; "Anawasaidia wazawa wa Abrahamu."

¹⁷Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like to [his] brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people;

¹⁷Ndiyo maana ilimbidi awe kama ndugu zake kwa kila namna, ili awe Kuhani Mkuu wao aliye mwaminifu na mwenye huruma katika kumtumikia Mungu, ili dhambi za watu ziondolewe.

¹⁸for, in that himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those that are being tempted.

¹⁸Na, anaweza sasa kuwasaidia wale wanaojaribiwa na kuteswa.
