1A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.
1கள்ளத்தராசு கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; சுமுத்திரையான நிறைகல்லோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.
2[When] pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
2அகந்தை வந்தால் இலச்சையும் வரும்; தாழ்ந்த சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களிடத்தில் ஞானம் உண்டு.
3The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
3செம்மையானவர்களுடைய உத்தமம் அவர்களை நடத்தும்; துரோகிகளின் மாறுபாடோ அவர்களைப் பாழாக்கும்.
4Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
4கோபாக்கினை நாளில் ஐசுவரியம் உதவாது; நீதியோ மரணத்துக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்.
5The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
5உத்தமனுடைய நீதி அவன் வழியைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கனோ தன் துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் விழுவான்.
6The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
6செம்மையானவர்களுடைய நீதி அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்; துரோகிகளோ தங்கள் தீவினையிலே பிடிபடுவார்கள்.
7When a wicked man dieth, [his] expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil [men] perisheth.
7துன்மார்க்கன் மரிக்கும்போது அவன் நம்பிக்கை அழியும்; அக்கிரமக்காரரின் அபேட்சை கெட்டுப்போகும்.
8The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
8நீதிமான் இக்கட்டினின்று விடுவிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் இருந்த இடத்திலே துன்மார்க்கன் வருவான்.
9With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
9மாயக்காரன் தனக்கு அடுத்தவனை வாயினால் கெடுக்கிறான்; நீதிமானோ அறிவினால் தப்புகிறான்.
10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
10நீதிமான்கள் நன்றாயிருந்தால் பட்டணம் களிகூரும்; துன்மார்க்கர் அழிந்தால் கெம்பீரம் உண்டாகும்.
11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
11செம்மையானவர்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தினால் பட்டணம் நிலைபெற்றோங்கும்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வாயினால் அது இடிந்துவிழும்.
12He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
12மதிகெட்டவன் பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறான்; புத்திமானோ தன் வாயை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.
13He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
13புறங்கூறித் திரிகிறவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்; ஆவியில் உண்மையுள்ளவனோ காரியத்தை அடக்குகிறான்.
14Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
14ஆலோசனையில்லாத இடத்தில் ஜனங்கள் விழுந்துபோவார்கள்; அநேக ஆலோசனைக்காரர் உண்டானால் சுகம் உண்டாகும்.
15It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
15அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவன் வெகு பாடுபடுவான்; பிணைப்படுவதை வெறுப்பவன் சுகமாயிருப்பான்.
16A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
16நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ மானத்தைக் காப்பாள்; பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் ஐசுவரியத்தைக் காப்பார்கள்.
17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
17தயையுள்ள மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நன்மை செய்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; கடூரனோ தன் உடலை அலைக்கழிக்கிறான்.
18The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
18துன்மார்க்கன் விருதாவேலையைச் செய்கிறான்; நீதியை விதைக்கிறவனோ மெய்ப்பலனைப் பெறுவான்.
19As righteousness [tendeth] to life, so he that pursueth evil [doeth it] to his own death.
19நீதி ஜீவனுக்கு ஏதுவாகிறதுபோல், தீமையைப் பின்தொடருகிறவன் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாகிறான்.
20The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in [their] way are his delight.
20மாறுபாடுள்ள இருதயமுடையவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவர்கள்; உத்தம மார்க்கத்தாரோ அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்கள்.
21Hand for hand! an evil [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
21கையோடே கைகோத்தாலும், துஷ்டன் தண்டனைக்குத் தப்பான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய சந்ததியோ விடுவிக்கப்படும்.
22A fair woman who is without discretion, is [as] a gold ring in a swine's snout.
22மதிகேடாய் நடக்கிற அழகுள்ள ஸ்திரீ, பன்றியின் மூக்கிலுள்ள பொன் மூக்குத்திக்குச் சமானம்.
23The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
23நீதிமான்களுடைய ஆசை நன்மையே; துன்மார்க்கருடைய நம்பிக்கையோ கோபாக்கினையாய் முடியும்.
24There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but [it tendeth] only to want.
24வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.
25The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
25உதாரகுணமுள்ள ஆத்துமா செழிக்கும்; எவன் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறானோ அவனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சப்படும்.
26He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
26தானியத்தைக் கட்டிவைக்கிறவனை ஜனங்கள் சபிப்பார்கள்; விற்கிறவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதம் தங்கும்.
27He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
27நன்மையை ஜாக்கிரதையுடன் தேடுகிறவன் தயையைப் பெறுவான்; தீமையைத் தேடுகிறவனுக்கோ தீமையே வரும்.
28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
28தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.
29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
29தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறவன் காற்றைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான்; மூடன் ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்கு அடிமையாவான்.
30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
30நீதிமானுடைய பலன் ஜீவவிருட்சம்; ஆத்துமாக்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஞானமுள்ளவன்.
31Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.
31இதோ, நீதிமானுக்கு பூமியில் சரிக்கட்டப்படுமே; துன்மார்க்கனுக்கும் பாவிக்கும் எத்தனை அதிகம்.
