1Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
1புத்திமதிகளை விரும்புகிறவன் அறிவை விரும்புகிறான்; கடிந்து கொள்ளுதலை வெறுக்கிறவனோ மிருககுணமுள்ளவன்.
2A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
2நல்லவன் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் தயை பெறுவான்; துர்ச்சிந்தனைகளுள்ள மனுஷனை அவர் ஆக்கினைக்குட்படுத்துவார்.
3A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
3துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் மனுஷன் நிலைவரப்படான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய வேரோ அசையாது.
4A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
4குணசாலியான ஸ்திரீ தன் புருஷனுக்குக் கிரீடமாயிருக்கிறாள்; இலச்சை உண்டுபண்ணுகிறவளோ அவனுக்கு எலும்புருக்கியாயிருக்கிறாள்.
5The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
5நீதிமான்களுடைய நினைவுகள் நியாயமானவைகள்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய ஆலோசனைகளோ சூதானவைகள்.
6The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
6துன்மார்க்கரின் வார்த்தைகள் இரத்தஞ்சிந்தப் பதிவிருப்பதைப்பற்றியது; உத்தமர்களுடைய வாயோ அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்.
7Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
7துன்மார்க்கர் கவிழ்க்கப்பட்டு ஒழிந்துபோவார்கள்; நீதிமான்களுடைய வீடோ நிலைநிற்கும்.
8A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
8தன் புத்திக்குத்தக்கதாக மனுஷன் புகழப்படுவான்; மாறுபாடான இருதயமுள்ளவனோ இகழப்படுவான்.
9Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
9ஆகாரமில்லாதவனாயிருந்தும், தன்னைத்தான் கனம்பண்ணிக்கொள்ளுகிறவனைப்பார்க்கிலும், கனமற்றவனாயிருந்தும் பணிவிடைக்காரனுள்ளவன் உத்தமன்.
10A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
10நீதிமான் தன் மிருகஜீவனைக் காப்பாற்றுகிறான்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய இரக்கமும் கொடுமையே.
11He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
11தன் நிலத்தைப் பயிரிடுகிறவன் ஆகாரத்தினால் திருப்தியடைவான்; வீணரைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவனோ மதியற்றவன்.
12The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
12துன்மார்க்கன் துஷ்டருடைய வலையை விரும்புகிறான்; நீதிமானுடைய வேர் கனி கொடுக்கும்.
13In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
13துன்மார்க்கனுக்கு அவன் உதடுகளின் துரோகமே கண்ணி; நீதிமானோ நெருக்கத்தினின்று நீங்குவான்.
14A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
14அவனவன் தன் தன் வாயின் பலனால் திருப்தியடைவான்; அவனவன் கைக்கிரியையின் பலனுக்குத்தக்கதாக அவனவனுக்குக் கிடைக்கும்.
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
15மதியீனனுடைய வழி அவன் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையாயிருக்கும்; ஆலோசனைக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறவனோ ஞானமுள்ளவன்.
16The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
16மூடனுடைய கோபம் சீக்கிரத்தில் வெளிப்படும்; இலச்சையை மூடுகிறவனோ விவேகி.
17He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
17சத்தியவாசகன் நீதியை வெளிப்படுத்துவான்; பொய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரனோ வஞ்சகத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துவான்.
18There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
18பட்டயக்குத்துகள்போல் பேசுகிறவர்களும் உண்டு; ஞானமுள்ளவர்களுடைய நாவோ ஒளஷதம்.
19The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
19சத்திய உதடு என்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்; பொய்நாவோ ஒரு நிமிஷமாத்திரம் இருக்கும்;
20Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
20தீங்கைப் பிணைக்கிறவர்களின் இருதயத்தில் இருக்கிறது கபடம்; சமாதானம்பண்ணுகிற ஆலோசனைக்காரருக்கு உள்ளது சந்தோஷம்.
21There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
21நீதிமானுக்கு ஒரு கேடும் வராது; துன்மார்க்கரோ தீமையினால் நிறையப்படுவார்கள்.
22Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
22பொய் உதடுகள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்; உண்மையாய் நடக்கிறவர்களோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.
23A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
23விவேகமுள்ள மனுஷன் அறிவை அடக்கிவைக்கிறான்; மூடருடைய இருதயமோ மதியீனத்தைப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தும்.
24The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
24ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களுடைய கை ஆளுகை செய்யும்; சோம்பேறியோ பகுதிகட்டுவான்.
25Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
25மனுஷனுடைய இருதயத்திலுள்ள கவலை அதை ஒடுக்கும்; நல்வார்த்தையோ அதை மகிழ்ச்சியாக்கும்.
26The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
26நீதிமான் தன் அயலானைப்பார்க்கிலும் மேன்மையுள்ளவன்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வழியோ அவர்களை மோசப்படுத்தும்.
27The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
27சோம்பேறி தான் வேட்டையாடிப் பிடித்ததைச் சமைப்பதில்லை; ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவனுடைய பொருளோ அருமையானது.
28In the path of righteousness is life, and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
28நீதியின் பாதையில் ஜீவன் உண்டு; அந்தப் பாதையில் மரணம் இல்லை.
