¹When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus makes and baptises more disciples than John

¹เหตุฉะนั้นเมื่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงทราบว่า พวกฟาริสีได้ยินว่า พระเยซูทรงมีสาวกและให้บัพติศมามากกว่ายอห์น

²(however, Jesus himself did not baptise, but his disciples),

²(แม้ว่าพระเยซูไม่ได้ทรงให้บัพติศมาเอง แต่สาวกของพระองค์เป็นผู้ให้)

³he left Judaea and went away again unto Galilee.

³พระองค์จึงเสด็จออกจากแคว้นยูเดียและกลับไปยังแคว้นกาลิลีอีก

⁴And he must needs pass through Samaria.

⁴พระองค์จำต้องเสด็จผ่านแคว้นสะมาเรีย

⁵He comes therefore to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near to the land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

⁵พระองค์จึงเสด็จไปถึงเมืองหนึ่งชื่อสิคาร์ในแคว้นสะมาเรีย ใกล้ที่ดินซึ่งยาโคบให้แก่โยเซฟบุตรชายของตน

⁶Now a fountain of Jacob's was there; Jesus therefore, being wearied with the way he had come, sat just as he was at the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.

⁶บ่อน้ำของยาโคบอยู่ที่นั่น พระเยซูทรงดำเนินทางมาเหน็ดเหนื่อยจึงประทับบนขอบบ่อนั้น เป็นเวลาประมาณเที่ยง

⁷A woman comes out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her, Give me to drink

⁷มีหญิงชาวสะมาเรียคนหนึ่งมาตักน้ำ พระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "ขอน้ำให้เราดื่มบ้าง"

⁸(for his disciples had gone away into the city that they might buy provisions).

⁸(ขณะนั้นสาวกของพระองค์เข้าไปซื้ออาหารในเมือง)

⁹The Samaritan woman therefore says to him, How dost thou, being a Jew, ask to drink of me who am a Samaritan woman? for Jews have no intercourse with Samaritans.

⁹หญิงชาวสะมาเรียทูลพระองค์ว่า "ไฉนท่านผู้เป็นยิวจึงขอน้ำดื่มจากดิฉันผู้เป็นหญิงสะมาเรีย เพราะพวกยิวไม่คบหาชาวสะมาเรียเลย"

¹⁰Jesus answered and said to her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that says to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

¹⁰พระเยซูตรัสตอบนางว่า "ถ้าเจ้าได้รู้จักของประทานของพระเจ้า และรู้จักผู้ที่พูดกับเจ้าว่า `ขอน้ำให้เราดื่มบ้าง' เจ้าจะได้ขอจากท่านผู้นั้น และท่านผู้นั้นจะให้น้ำประกอบด้วยชีวิตแก่เจ้า"

¹¹The woman says to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou the living water?

¹¹นางทูลพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเจ้าคะ ท่านไม่มีถังตัก และบ่อนี้ก็ลึก ท่านจะได้น้ำประกอบด้วยชีวิตนั้นมาจากไหน

¹²Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?

¹²ท่านเป็นใหญ่กว่ายาโคบบรรพบุรุษของเรา ผู้ได้ให้บ่อน้ำนี้แก่เราหรือ และยาโคบเองก็ได้ดื่มจากบ่อนี้รวมทั้งบุตรและฝูงสัตว์ของท่านด้วย"

¹³Jesus answered and said to her, Every one who drinks of this water shall thirst again;

¹³พระเยซูตรัสตอบนางว่า "ทุกคนที่ดื่มน้ำนี้จะกระหายอีก

¹⁴but whosoever drinks of the water which I shall give him shall never thirst for ever, but the water which I shall give him shall become in him a fountain of water, springing up into eternal life.

¹⁴แต่ผู้ที่ดื่มน้ำซึ่งเราจะให้แก่เขานั้นจะไม่กระหายอีกเลย แต่น้ำซึ่งเราจะให้เขานั้นจะบังเกิดเป็นบ่อน้ำพุในตัวเขาพลุ่งขึ้นถึงชีวิตนิรันดร์"

¹⁵The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.

¹⁵นางทูลพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเจ้าคะ ขอน้ำนั้นให้ดิฉันเถิด เพื่อดิฉันจะได้ไม่กระหายอีกและจะได้ไม่ต้องมาตักที่นี่"

¹⁶Jesus says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come here.

¹⁶พระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "ไปเรียกสามีของเจ้ามานี่เถิด"

¹⁷The woman answered and said, I have not a husband. Jesus says to her, Thou hast well said, I have not a husband;

¹⁷นางทูลตอบว่า "ดิฉันไม่มีสามีค่ะ" พระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "เจ้าพูดถูกแล้วว่า `ดิฉันไม่มีสามี'

¹⁸for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom now thou hast is not thy husband: this thou hast spoken truly.

¹⁸เพราะเจ้าได้มีสามีห้าคนแล้ว และคนที่เจ้ามีอยู่เดี๋ยวนี้ก็ไม่ใช่สามีของเจ้า เรื่องนี้เจ้าพูดจริง"

¹⁹The woman says to him, Sir, I see that thou art a prophet.

¹⁹นางทูลพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเจ้าคะ ดิฉันเห็นจริงแล้วว่าท่านเป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์

²⁰Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship.

²⁰บรรพบุรุษของพวกเรานมัสการที่ภูเขานี้ แต่พวกท่านว่าสถานที่ที่ควรนมัสการนั้นคือกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม"

²¹Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, [the] hour is coming when ye shall neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem worship the Father.

²¹พระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "หญิงเอ๋ย เชื่อเราเถิด จะมีเวลาหนึ่งที่พวกเจ้าจะมิได้ไหว้นมัสการพระบิดาเฉพาะที่ภูเขานี้ หรือที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

²²Ye worship ye know not what; we worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews.

²²ซึ่งพวกเจ้านมัสการนั้นเจ้าไม่รู้จัก ซึ่งพวกเรานมัสการเรารู้จัก เพราะความรอดนั้นเนื่องมาจากพวกยิว

²³But [the] hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for also the Father seeks such as his worshippers.

²³แต่เวลานั้นใกล้เข้ามาแล้ว และบัดนี้ก็ถึงแล้ว คือเมื่อผู้ที่นมัสการอย่างถูกต้อง จะนมัสการพระบิดาด้วยจิตวิญญาณและความจริง เพราะว่าพระบิดาทรงแสวงหาคนเช่นนั้นนมัสการพระองค์

²⁴God [is] a spirit; and they who worship him must worship [him] in spirit and truth.

²⁴พระเจ้าทรงเป็นพระวิญญาณ และผู้ที่นมัสการพระองค์ต้องนมัสการด้วยจิตวิญญาณและความจริง"

²⁵The woman says to him, I know that Messias is coming, who is called Christ; when *he* comes he will tell us all things.

²⁵นางทูลพระองค์ว่า "ดิฉันทราบว่าพระเมสสิยาห์ที่เรียกว่า พระคริสต์ จะเสด็จมา เมื่อพระองค์เสด็จมาพระองค์จะทรงชี้แจงทุกสิ่งแก่เรา"

²⁶Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am [he].

²⁶พระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "เราที่พูดกับเจ้าคือท่านผู้นั้น"

²⁷And upon this came his disciples, and wondered that he spoke with a woman; yet no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?

²⁷ขณะนั้นสาวกของพระองค์ก็มาถึง และเขาประหลาดใจที่พระองค์ทรงสนทนากับผู้หญิง แต่ไม่มีใครถามว่า "พระองค์ทรงประสงค์อะไร" หรือ "ทำไมพระองค์จึงทรงสนทนากับนาง"

²⁸The woman then left her waterpot and went away into the city, and says to the men,

²⁸หญิงนั้นจึงทิ้งหม้อน้ำไว้และเข้าไปในเมืองและบอกคนทั้งปวงว่า

²⁹Come, see a man who told me all things I had ever done: is not he the Christ?

²⁹"มาดูท่านผู้หนึ่งที่เล่าถึงสิ่งสารพัดซึ่งฉันได้กระทำ ท่านผู้นี้มิใช่พระคริสต์หรือ"

³⁰They went out of the city and came to him.

³⁰คนทั้งหลายจึงพากันออกจากเมืองไปหาพระองค์

³¹But meanwhile the disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, eat.

³¹ในระหว่างนั้นพวกสาวกทูลเชิญพระองค์ว่า "พระอาจารย์เจ้าข้า เชิญรับประทานเถิด"

³²But he said to them, I have food to eat which ye do not know.

³²แต่พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "เรามีอาหารรับประทานที่ท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้"

³³The disciples therefore said to one another, Has any one brought him [anything] to eat?

³³พวกสาวกจึงถามกันว่า "มีใครเอาอาหารมาถวายพระองค์แล้วหรือ"

³⁴Jesus says to them, My food is that I should do the will of him that has sent me, and that I should finish his work.

³⁴พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "อาหารของเราคือการกระทำตามพระทัยของพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา และทำให้งานของพระองค์สำเร็จ

³⁵Do not ye say, that there are yet four months and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and behold the fields, for they are already white to harvest.

³⁵ท่านทั้งหลายว่า อีกสี่เดือนจะถึงฤดูเกี่ยวข้าวมิใช่หรือ ดูเถิด เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า เงยหน้าขึ้นดูนาเถิด ว่าทุ่งนาก็ขาว ถึงเวลาเกี่ยวแล้ว

³⁶He that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto life eternal, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.

³⁶คนที่เกี่ยวก็กำลังได้รับค่าจ้าง และกำลังส่ำสมพืชผลไว้สำหรับชีวิตนิรันดร์ เพื่อทั้งคนหว่านและคนเกี่ยวจะชื่นชมยินดีด้วยกัน

³⁷For in this is [verified] the true saying, It is one who sows and another who reaps.

³⁷เพราะในเรื่องนี้คำที่กล่าวไว้นี้เป็นความจริง คือ `คนหนึ่งหว่านและอีกคนหนึ่งเกี่ยว'

³⁸I have sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others have laboured, and ye have entered into their labours.

³⁸เราใช้ท่านทั้งหลายไปเกี่ยวสิ่งที่ท่านมิได้ลงแรงทำ คนอื่นได้ลงแรงทำ และท่านได้ประโยชน์จากแรงของเขา"

³⁹But many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him because of the word of the woman who bore witness, He told me all things that I had ever done.

³⁹ชาวสะมาเรียเป็นอันมากที่มาจากเมืองนั้นได้เชื่อในพระองค์ เพราะคำพยานของหญิงผู้นั้น ที่ว่า "ท่านเล่าถึงสิ่งสารพัดซึ่งฉันได้กระทำ"

⁴⁰When therefore the Samaritans came to him they asked him to abide with them, and he abode there two days.

⁴⁰ฉะนั้นเมื่อชาวสะมาเรียมาถึงพระองค์ เขาจึงทูลเชิญพระองค์ให้ประทับอยู่กับเขา และพระองค์ก็ประทับที่นั่นสองวัน

⁴¹And more a great deal believed on account of his word;

⁴¹และคนอื่นเป็นอันมากได้เชื่อเพราะพระดำรัสของพระองค์

⁴²and they said to the woman, [It is] no longer on account of thy saying that we believe, for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

⁴²เขาเหล่านั้นพูดกับหญิงนั้นว่า "ตั้งแต่นี้ไปที่เราเชื่อนั้นมิใช่เพราะคำของเจ้า แต่เพราะเราได้ยินเอง และเรารู้แน่ว่าท่านองค์นี้เป็นผู้ช่วยโลกให้รอด คือพระคริสต์"

⁴³But after the two days he went forth thence and went away into Galilee,

⁴³ครั้นล่วงไปสองวัน พระองค์ก็เสด็จออกจากที่นั่นไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี

⁴⁴for Jesus himself bore witness that a prophet has no honour in his own country.

⁴⁴เพราะพระเยซูเองทรงเป็นพยานว่า "ศาสดาพยากรณ์ไม่ได้รับเกียรติในเมืองของตน"

⁴⁵When therefore he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem during the feast, for they also went to the feast.

⁴⁵ฉะนั้นเมื่อพระองค์เสด็จไปถึงแคว้นกาลิลี ชาวกาลิลีได้ต้อนรับพระองค์ เพราะเขาได้เห็นทุกสิ่งซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำในเทศกาลเลี้ยง ณ กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้ไปในเทศกาลเลี้ยงนั้นด้วย

⁴⁶He came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain courtier in Capernaum whose son was sick.

⁴⁶ฉะนั้นพระเยซูจึงได้เสด็จไปยังหมู่บ้านคานาแคว้นกาลิลีอีก อันเป็นที่ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำให้น้ำกลายเป็นน้ำองุ่น และที่เมืองคาเปอรนาอุมมีขุนนางคนหนึ่ง บุตรชายของท่านป่วยหนัก

⁴⁷He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him and asked [him] that he would come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.

⁴⁷เมื่อท่านได้ยินข่าวว่า พระเยซูได้เสด็จมาจากแคว้นยูเดียไปยังแคว้นกาลิลีแล้ว ท่านจึงไปทูลอ้อนวอนพระองค์ให้เสด็จลงไปรักษาบุตรของตน เพราะบุตรจวนจะตายแล้ว

⁴⁸Jesus therefore said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe.

⁴⁸พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ถ้าพวกท่านไม่เห็นหมายสำคัญและการมหัศจรรย์ ท่านก็จะไม่เชื่อ"

⁴⁹The courtier says to him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

⁴⁹ขุนนางผู้นั้นทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ขอเสด็จไปก่อนที่บุตรของข้าพระองค์จะตาย"

⁵⁰Jesus says to him, Go, thy son lives. And the man believed the word which Jesus said to him, and went his way.

⁵⁰พระเยซูตรัสกับท่านว่า "กลับไปเถิด บุตรชายของท่านจะไม่ตาย" ท่านก็เชื่อพระดำรัสที่พระเยซูตรัสกับท่าน จึงทูลลาไป

⁵¹But already, as he was going down, his servants met him and brought [him] word saying, Thy child lives.

⁵¹ขณะที่ท่านกลับไปนั้น พวกผู้รับใช้ของท่านได้มาพบและเรียนท่านว่า "บุตรชายของท่านหายแล้ว"

⁵²He inquired therefore from them the hour at which he got better. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

⁵²ท่านจึงถามถึงเวลาที่บุตรค่อยทุเลาขึ้นนั้น และพวกผู้รับใช้ก็เรียนท่านว่า "ไข้หายเมื่อวานนี้เวลาบ่ายโมง"

⁵³The father therefore knew that [it was] in that hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son lives; and he believed, himself and his whole house.

⁵³บิดาจึงรู้ว่าชั่วโมงนั้นเป็นเวลาที่พระเยซูได้ตรัสกับตนว่า "บุตรชายของท่านจะไม่ตาย" และท่านเองก็เชื่อพร้อมทั้งครัวเรือนของท่านด้วย

⁵⁴This second sign again did Jesus, being come out of Judaea into Galilee.

⁵⁴นี่เป็นการอัศจรรย์ที่สองซึ่งพระเยซูทรงกระทำ เมื่อพระองค์เสด็จจากแคว้นยูเดียไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี
