1Then Jesus was carried up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted of the devil:
1ครั้งนั้นพระวิญญาณทรงนำพระเยซูเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เพื่อพญามารจะได้มาทดลอง
2and having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he hungered.
2และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงอดพระกระยาหารสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนแล้ว ภายหลังพระองค์ก็ทรงอยากพระกระยาหาร
3And the tempter coming up to him said, If thou be Son of God, speak, that these stones may become loaves of bread.
3เมื่อผู้ทดลองมาหาพระองค์ มันก็ทูลว่า "ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงสั่งก้อนหินเหล่านี้ให้กลายเป็นพระกระยาหาร"
4But he answering said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which goes out through God's mouth.
4ฝ่ายพระองค์ตรัสตอบว่า "มีพระคัมภีร์เขียนไว้ว่า `มนุษย์จะบำรุงชีวิตด้วยอาหารสิ่งเดียวหามิได้ แต่บำรุงด้วยพระวจนะทุกคำซึ่งออกมาจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระเจ้า'"
5Then the devil takes him to the holy city, and sets him upon the edge of the temple,
5แล้วพญามารก็นำพระองค์ไปยังนครบริสุทธิ์ และให้พระองค์ประทับที่ยอดหลังคาพระวิหาร
6and says to him, If thou be Son of God cast thyself down; for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee, and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in anywise thou strike thy foot against a stone.
6แล้วทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงโจนลงไปเถิด เพราะพระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้ว่า `พระองค์จะรับสั่งให้เหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์รักษาท่าน และเหล่าทูตสวรรค์จะเอามือประคองชูท่านไว้ เกรงว่าในเวลาหนึ่งเวลาใดเท้าของท่านจะกระแทกหิน'"
7Jesus said to him, It is again written, Thou shalt not tempt [the] Lord thy God.
7พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบมันว่า "พระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้อีกว่า `อย่าทดลององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน'"
8Again the devil takes him to a very high mountain, and shews him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory,
8อีกครั้งหนึ่งพญามารได้นำพระองค์ขึ้นไปบนภูเขาอันสูงยิ่งนัก และได้แสดงบรรดาราชอาณาจักรในโลก ทั้งความรุ่งเรืองของราชอาณาจักรเหล่านั้นให้พระองค์ทอดพระเนตร
9and says to him, All these things will I give thee if, falling down, thou wilt do me homage.
9แล้วได้ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าท่านจะกราบลงนมัสการเรา เราจะให้สิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้แก่ท่าน"
10Then says Jesus to him, Get thee away, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve.
10พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบมันว่า "อ้ายซาตาน จงไปเสียให้พ้น เพราะพระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้ว่า `จงนมัสการองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน และปรนนิบัติพระองค์แต่ผู้เดียว'"
11Then the devil leaves him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
11แล้วพญามารจึงละพระองค์ไป และดูเถิด มีเหล่าทูตสวรรค์มาปรนนิบัติพระองค์
12But having heard that John was delivered up, he departed into Galilee:
12ครั้นพระเยซูทรงได้ยินว่ายอห์นถูกจำไว้แล้ว พระองค์ก็เสด็จไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี
13and having left Nazareth, he went and dwelt at Capernaum, which is on the sea-side in the borders of Zabulon and Nepthalim,
13แล้วย้ายที่ประทับจากเมืองนาซาเร็ธ พระองค์เสด็จไปอยู่ที่เมืองคาเปอรนาอุม ซึ่งอยู่ริมทะเลสาบที่เขตคนเศบูลลุนและนัฟทาลี
14that that might be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying,
14เพื่อจะสำเร็จตามพระวจนะซึ่งตรัสไว้โดยอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ว่า
15Land of Zabulon and land of Nepthalim, way of [the] sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations:
15`แคว้นเศบูลลุนและแคว้นนัฟทาลีทางข้างทะเลฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น คือกาลิลีแห่งบรรดาประชาชาติ
16-- the people sitting in darkness has seen a great light, and to those sitting in [the] country and shadow of death, to them has light sprung up.
16ประชาชนผู้นั่งอยู่ในความมืดได้เห็นความสว่างยิ่งใหญ่ และผู้ที่นั่งอยู่ในแดนและเงาแห่งความตาย ก็มีความสว่างขึ้นส่องถึงเขาแล้ว'
17From that time began Jesus to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh.
17ตั้งแต่นั้นมาพระเยซูได้ทรงตั้งต้นประกาศว่า "จงกลับใจเสียใหม่ เพราะว่าอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์มาใกล้แล้ว"
18And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers;
18ขณะที่พระเยซูทรงดำเนินอยู่ตามชายทะเลกาลิลี ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องสองคน คือซีโมนที่เรียกว่าเปโตร กับอันดรูว์น้องชาย กำลังทอดอวนอยู่ที่ทะเลสาบ เพราะเขาเป็นชาวประมง
19and he says to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
19พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงตามเรามาเถิด และเราจะตั้งท่านให้เป็นผู้หาคนดั่งหาปลา"
20And they, having left their trawl-nets, immediately followed him.
20เขาทั้งสองได้ละอวนตามพระองค์ไปทันที
21And going on thence he saw other two brothers, James the [son] of Zebedee and John his brother, in the ship with Zebedee their father, mending their trawl-nets, and he called them;
21ครั้นพระองค์เสด็จต่อไป ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องอีกสองคน คือยากอบบุตรชายเศเบดีกับยอห์นน้องชายของเขา กำลังชุนอวนอยู่ในเรือกับเศเบดีบิดาของเขา พระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกเขา
22and they, having left the ship and their father, immediately followed him.
22ในทันใดนั้นเขาทั้งสองก็ละเรือและลาบิดาของเขาตามพระองค์ไป
23And [Jesus] went round the whole [of] Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness among the people.
23พระเยซูได้เสด็จไปทั่วแคว้นกาลิลี ทรงสั่งสอนในธรรมศาลาของเขา ทรงประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแห่งอาณาจักร และทรงรักษาโรคภัยไข้เจ็บทุกอย่างของชาวเมืองให้หาย
24And his fame went out into the whole [of] Syria, and they brought to him all that were ill, suffering under various diseases and pains, and those possessed by demons, and lunatics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
24กิตติศัพท์ของพระองค์ก็เลื่องลือไปทั่วประเทศซีเรีย เขาจึงพาบรรดาคนป่วยเป็นโรคต่างๆ คนที่ทนทุกข์เวทนา คนผีเข้า คนเป็นลมบ้าหมู และคนเป็นอัมพาตมาหาพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ทรงรักษาเขาให้หาย
25And great crowds followed him from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judaea, and beyond the Jordan.
25และมีคนหมู่ใหญ่มาจากแคว้นกาลิลี และแคว้นทศบุรี และกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และแคว้นยูเดีย และแม่น้ำจอร์แดนฟากข้างโน้น ติดตามพระองค์ไป
