1Take heed not to do your alms before men to be seen of them, otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.
1"จงระวังให้ดี ท่านอย่ากระทำทานต่อหน้าคนอื่นเพื่อจะให้เขาเห็น ถ้าทำอย่างนั้นท่านจะไม่ได้รับบำเหน็จจากพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์
2When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
2เหตุฉะนั้น เมื่อท่านทำทาน อย่าเป่าแตรข้างหน้าท่านเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคดกระทำในธรรมศาลาและตามถนน เพื่อให้คนสรรเสริญ เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว
3But thou, when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;
3ฝ่ายท่านทั้งหลายเมื่อทำทาน อย่าให้มือซ้ายรู้การซึ่งมือขวากระทำนั้น
4so that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render [it] to thee.
4เพื่อทานของท่านจะเป็นการลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับ พระองค์เองจะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านโดยเปิดเผย
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets so that they should appear to men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
5เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายอธิษฐาน อย่าเป็นเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะเขาชอบยืนอธิษฐานในธรรมศาลาและที่มุมถนน เพื่อจะให้คนทั้งปวงได้เห็น เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว
6But *thou*, when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who sees in secret will render [it] to thee.
6ฝ่ายท่านเมื่ออธิษฐานจงเข้าในห้องชั้นใน และเมื่อปิดประตูแล้ว จงอธิษฐานต่อพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในที่ลี้ลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับจะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านโดยเปิดเผย
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.
7แต่เมื่อท่านอธิษฐาน อย่าใช้คำซ้ำซากไร้ประโยชน์เหมือนคนต่างชาติ เพราะเขาคิดว่าพูดมากหลายคำ พระจึงจะทรงโปรดฟัง
8Be not ye therefore like them, for your Father knows of what things ye have need before ye beg [anything] of him.
8ท่านอย่าทำเหมือนเขาเลย เพราะว่าสิ่งไรซึ่งท่านต้องการ พระบิดาของท่านทรงทราบก่อนที่ท่านทูลขอแล้ว
9Thus therefore pray *ye*: Our Father who art in the heavens, let thy name be sanctified,
9เหตุฉะนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายจงอธิษฐานตามอย่างนี้ว่า ข้าแต่พระบิดาแห่งข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ ขอให้พระนามของพระองค์เป็นที่เคารพสักการะ
10let thy kingdom come, let thy will be done as in heaven so upon the earth;
10ขอให้อาณาจักรของพระองค์มาตั้งอยู่ ขอให้เป็นไปตามพระทัยของพระองค์ในสวรรค์เป็นอย่างไร ก็ให้เป็นไปอย่างนั้นในแผ่นดินโลก
11give us to-day our needed bread,
11ขอทรงโปรดประทานอาหารประจำวันแก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายในกาลวันนี้
12and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors,
12และขอทรงโปรดยกหนี้ของข้าพระองค์ เหมือนข้าพระองค์ยกหนี้ผู้ที่เป็นหนี้ข้าพระองค์นั้น
13and lead us not into temptation, but save us from evil.
13และขออย่านำข้าพระองค์เข้าไปในการทดลอง แต่ขอทรงช่วยข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นจากซึ่งชั่วร้าย เหตุว่าอาณาจักรและฤทธิ์เดชและสง่าราศีเป็นของพระองค์สืบๆไปเป็นนิตย์ เอเมน
14For if ye forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father also will forgive you [yours],
14เพราะว่าถ้าท่านยกการละเมิดของเพื่อนมนุษย์ พระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์จะทรงโปรดยกโทษให้ท่านด้วย
15but if ye do not forgive men their offences, neither will your Father forgive your offences.
15แต่ถ้าท่านไม่ยกการละเมิดของเพื่อนมนุษย์ พระบิดาของท่านจะไม่ทรงโปรดยกการละเมิดของท่านเหมือนกัน
16And when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, downcast in countenance; for they disfigure their faces, so that they may appear fasting to men: verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
16ยิ่งกว่านั้นเมื่อท่านถืออดอาหาร อย่าทำหน้าเศร้าหมองเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคด ด้วยเขาแสร้งทำหน้าให้ผิดปกติ เพื่อจะให้คนเห็นว่าเขาถืออดอาหาร เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว
17But *thou*, [when] fasting, anoint thy head and wash thy face,
17ฝ่ายท่านเมื่อถืออดอาหาร จงชโลมทาศีรษะและล้างหน้า
18so that thou mayest not appear fasting unto men, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret shall render [it] to thee.
18เพื่อท่านจะไม่ปรากฏแก่คนอื่นว่าถืออดอาหาร แต่ให้ปรากฏแก่พระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในที่ลี้ลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับ จะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านโดยเปิดเผย
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;
19อย่าสะสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัวในโลก ที่ตัวมอดและสนิมอาจทำลายเสียได้ และที่ขโมยอาจขุดช่องลักเอาไปได้
20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal;
20แต่จงสะสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัวในสวรรค์ ที่ตัวมอดและสนิมทำลายเสียไม่ได้ และที่ไม่มีขโมยขุดช่องลักเอาไปได้
21for where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart.
21เพราะว่าทรัพย์สมบัติของท่านอยู่ที่ไหน ใจของท่านก็จะอยู่ที่นั่นด้วย
22The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light:
22ตาเป็นประทีปของร่างกาย เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าตาของท่านดี ทั้งตัวก็พลอยสว่างไปด้วย
23but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness!
23แต่ถ้าตาของท่านชั่ว ทั้งตัวของท่านก็พลอยมืดไปด้วย เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าความสว่างซึ่งอยู่ในตัวท่านมืดไป ความมืดนั้นจะหนาทึบสักเพียงใด
24No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
24ไม่มีผู้ใดปรนนิบัตินายสองนายได้ เพราะเขาจะชังนายข้างหนึ่งและจะรักนายอีกข้างหนึ่ง หรือเขาจะนับถือนายฝ่ายหนึ่งและจะดูหมิ่นนายอีกฝ่ายหนึ่ง ท่านจะปรนนิบัติพระเจ้าและเงินทองพร้อมกันไม่ได้
25For this cause I say unto you, Do not be careful about your life, what ye should eat and what ye should drink; nor for your body what ye should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
25เหตุฉะนั้น เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงชีวิตของตนว่า จะเอาอะไรกิน หรือจะเอาอะไรดื่ม และอย่ากระวนกระวายถึงร่างกายของตนว่า จะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม ชีวิตสำคัญยิ่งกว่าอาหารมิใช่หรือ และร่างกายสำคัญยิ่งกว่าเครื่องนุ่งห่มมิใช่หรือ
26Look at the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are *ye* not much more excellent than they?
26จงดูนกในอากาศ มันมิได้หว่าน มิได้เกี่ยว มิได้สะสมไว้ในยุ้งฉาง แต่พระบิดาของท่านทั้งหลายผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ทรงเลี้ยงนกไว้ ท่านทั้งหลายมิประเสริฐกว่านกหรือ
27But which of you by carefulness can add to his growth one cubit?
27มีใครในพวกท่าน โดยความกระวนกระวาย อาจต่อความสูงให้ยาวออกไปอีกสักศอกหนึ่งได้หรือ
28And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;
28ท่านกระวนกระวายถึงเครื่องนุ่งห่มทำไม จงพิจารณาดอกไม้ที่ทุ่งนาว่า มันงอกงามเจริญขึ้นได้อย่างไร มันไม่ทำงาน มันไม่ปั่นด้าย
29but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.
29และเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ซาโลมอนเมื่อบริบูรณ์ด้วยสง่าราศีของท่าน ก็มิได้ทรงเครื่องงามเท่าดอกไม้นี้ดอกหนึ่ง
30But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into [the] oven, will he not much rather you, O [ye] of little faith?
30แม้ว่าพระเจ้าทรงตกแต่งหญ้าที่ทุ่งนาอย่างนั้น ซึ่งเป็นอยู่วันนี้และรุ่งขึ้นต้องทิ้งในเตาไฟ โอ ผู้มีความเชื่อน้อย พระองค์จะไม่ทรงตกแต่งท่านมากยิ่งกว่านั้นหรือ
31Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?
31เหตุฉะนั้น อย่ากระวนกระวายว่า จะเอาอะไรกิน หรือจะเอาอะไรดื่ม หรือจะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม
32for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.
32(เพราะว่าพวกต่างชาติแสวงหาสิ่งของทั้งปวงนี้) แต่ว่าพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ทรงทราบแล้วว่า ท่านต้องการสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.
33แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจงแสวงหาอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า และความชอบธรรมของพระองค์ก่อน แล้วพระองค์จะทรงเพิ่มเติมสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้ให้
34Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.
34เหตุฉะนั้น อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงพรุ่งนี้ เพราะว่าพรุ่งนี้คงมีการกระวนกระวายสำหรับพรุ่งนี้เอง แต่ละวันก็มีทุกข์พออยู่แล้ว"
