1Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
1โอ บุตรสาวแห่งกองทัพทหารเอ๋ย บัดนี้เจ้าจงรวมกันเป็นกองทัพ ศัตรูมาล้อมเราทั้งหลายไว้ เขาจะเอาไม้ตีแก้มของผู้ปกครองอิสราเอล
2(And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)
2โอ เบธเลเฮม เอฟราธาห์ แต่เจ้าผู้เป็นหน่วยเล็กในบรรดาคนยูดาห์ที่นับเป็นพันๆ จากเจ้าจะมีผู้หนึ่งออกมาเพื่อเรา เป็นผู้ที่จะปกครองในอิสราเอล ดั้งเดิมของท่านมาจากสมัยเก่า จากสมัยโบราณกาล
3Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
3ดังนั้น พระองค์จะทรงมอบเขาไว้จนถึงเวลาที่หญิงผู้เจ็บครรภ์จะคลอดบุตร แล้วบรรดาพี่น้องที่เหลืออยู่จะกลับมายังคนอิสราเอล
4And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.
4และพระองค์จะทรงยืนมั่น ทรงเลี้ยงดูด้วยพระกำลังแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ ด้วยสง่าราศีแห่งพระนามพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพระองค์ และเขาทั้งหลายอยู่ได้ เพราะบัดนี้พระองค์จะทรงเป็นใหญ่ตลอดจนถึงที่สุดท้ายปลายพิภพ
5And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.
5พระองค์ผู้นี้จะเป็นสันติสุข คือเมื่อชาวอัสซีเรียจะยกเข้ามาในแผ่นดินของเราและเมื่อเขาจะเหยียบย่ำในปราสาททั้งหลายของเรา เราจะยกผู้เลี้ยงแกะเจ็ดคนและเจ้านายแปดคนมาต่อต้านเขา
6And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
6เขาทั้งหลายจะทำลายแผ่นดินอัสซีเรียด้วยดาบ และแผ่นดินนิมโรดในทางเข้า และพระองค์จะทรงช่วยเราให้พ้นจากชาวอัสซีเรียเมื่อชาวอัสซีเรียยกเข้ามาในแผ่นดินของเรา และเหยียบย่ำภายในเขตแดนของเรา
7And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.
7แล้วคนยาโคบที่เหลืออยู่จะอยู่ท่ามกลางชนชาติทั้งหลายเป็นอันมาก เหมือนน้ำค้างจากพระเยโฮวาห์ เหมือนห่าฝนที่ตกบนหญ้า ซึ่งไม่อยู่คอยมนุษย์หรือคอยบุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์
8And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.
8และคนยาโคบที่เหลืออยู่จะอยู่ท่ามกลางประชาชาติ ในท่ามกลางชนชาติทั้งหลายเป็นอันมาก ดังสิงโตอยู่ท่ามกลางสัตว์เดียรัจฉานในป่า ดังสิงโตหนุ่มอยู่ท่ามกลางฝูงแพะแกะ ซึ่งเมื่อมันผ่านไป มันก็เหยียบย่ำลงและฉีกเสีย ไม่มีใครช่วยให้พ้นได้
9Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
9มือของเจ้าจะถูกยกขึ้นเหนือคู่อริของเจ้า และศัตรูทั้งสิ้นของเจ้าจะถูกตัดขาดไป
10And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.
10พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ต่อมาในวันนั้นเราจะขจัดม้าของเจ้าให้หมดไปจากท่ามกลางเจ้า และจะทำลายรถรบของเจ้า
11And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.
11และเราจะขจัดเมืองให้หมดไปจากแผ่นดินของเจ้า และจะโค่นที่กำบังเข้มแข็งของเจ้าทั้งสิ้น
12And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.
12เราจะขจัดวิทยาคมให้หมดไปจากมือของเจ้า เจ้าจะไม่มีหมอผีอีกต่อไป
13Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.
13เราจะขจัดรูปเคารพสลักของเจ้าออกเสียด้วย และทำลายเสาศักดิ์สิทธิ์จากท่ามกลางเจ้า เจ้าจะมิได้กราบลงไหว้ผลงานของมือของเจ้าอีกต่อไป
14And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.
14เราจะถอนเสารูปเคารพของเจ้าเสียจากท่ามกลางเจ้า และจะทำลายเมืองของเจ้าเสีย
15And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.
15เราจะแก้แค้นเพราะความโกรธและความกริ้วต่อประชาชาติ ดังที่ไม่เคยมีใครได้ยินเลย
