¹I say then, Has God cast away his people? Far be the thought. For *I* also am an Israelite, of [the] seed of Abraham, of [the] tribe of Benjamin.

¹เมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้แล้ว ข้าพเจ้าจึงถามว่า "พระเจ้าทรงทอดทิ้งชนชาติของพระองค์แล้วหรือ" ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย ข้าพเจ้าเองก็เป็นชนชาติอิสราเอล เป็นเชื้อสายของอับราฮัม เป็นตระกูลเบนยามิน

²God has not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the scripture says in [the history of] Elias, how he pleads with God against Israel?

²พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงทอดทิ้งชนชาติของพระองค์นั้นที่พระองค์ทรงทราบล่วงหน้าแล้ว ท่านไม่รู้เรื่องซึ่งเขียนไว้แล้วในพระคัมภีร์กล่าวถึงท่านเอลียาห์หรือ ท่านได้กล่าวโทษพวกอิสราเอลต่อพระเจ้าว่า

³Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have dug down thine altars; and *I* have been left alone, and they seek my life.

³`พระองค์เจ้าข้า พวกเขาได้ฆ่าพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ของพระองค์ แท่นบูชาของพระองค์เขาก็ได้ขุดทำลายลงเสีย เหลืออยู่แต่ข้าพระองค์คนเดียวและเขาแสวงหาช่องทางที่จะประหารชีวิตของข้าพระองค์'

⁴But what says the divine answer to him? I have left to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed knee to Baal.

⁴แล้วพระเจ้าทรงตอบท่านว่าอย่างไร ว่าดังนี้ `เราได้เหลือคนไว้สำหรับเราเจ็ดพันคน ซึ่งเป็นผู้ที่มิได้น้อมเข่าลงต่อรูปพระบาอัล'

⁵Thus, then, in the present time also there has been a remnant according to election of grace.

⁵เช่นนั้นแหละบัดนี้ก็ยังมีพวกที่เหลืออยู่ตามที่ได้ทรงเลือกไว้โดยพระคุณ

⁶But if by grace, no longer of works: since [otherwise] grace is no more grace.

⁶แต่ถ้าเป็นทางพระคุณก็หาได้เป็นเพราะทางการประพฤติไม่ ฉะนั้นแล้ว พระคุณก็ไม่เป็นพระคุณอีกต่อไป แต่ถ้าเป็นทางการประพฤติก็หาได้เป็นเพราะทางพระคุณไม่ ฉะนั้นแล้ว การประพฤติก็ไม่เป็นการประพฤติอีกต่อไป

⁷What [is it] then? What Israel seeks for, that he has not obtained; but the election has obtained, and the rest have been blinded,

⁷ถ้าเช่นนั้นจะเป็นอย่างไร พวกอิสราเอลไม่พบสิ่งที่เขาแสวงหา แต่คนที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงเลือกไว้นั้นเป็นผู้ได้พบ และคนนอกนั้นก็มีใจแข็งกระด้างไป

⁸according as it is written, God has given to them a spirit of slumber, eyes not to see, and ears not to hear, unto this day.

⁸ตามที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `พระเจ้าได้ทรงประทานใจที่เซื่องซึม ประทานตาที่มองไม่เห็น หูที่ฟังไม่ได้ยินให้แก่เขา จนทุกวันนี้'

⁹And David says, Let their table be for a snare, and for a gin, and for a fall-trap, and for a recompense to them:

⁹ดาวิดทรงกล่าวว่า `ขอให้สำรับของเขากลายเป็นบ่วงแร้ว และเครื่องดัก และเป็นสิ่งให้สะดุด และเป็นสิ่งสนองเขา

¹⁰let their eyes be darkened not to see, and bow down their back alway.

¹⁰ขอให้ตาของเขามืดไปเพื่อเขาจะได้มองไม่เห็น และให้หลังของเขางอค่อมตลอดไป'

¹¹I say then, Have they stumbled in order that they might fall? Far be the thought: but by their fall [there is] salvation to the nations to provoke them to jealousy.

¹¹ข้าพเจ้าจึงถามว่า "พวกอิสราเอลสะดุดจนหกล้มทีเดียวหรือ" ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย แต่การที่เขาละเมิดนั้นเป็นเหตุให้ความรอดแผ่มาถึงพวกต่างชาติ เพื่อจะให้พวกอิสราเอลมีใจมานะขึ้น

¹²But if their fall [be the] world's wealth, and their loss [the] wealth of [the] nations, how much rather their fulness?

¹²แต่ถ้าการที่พวกอิสราเอลละเมิดนั้นเป็นเหตุให้ทั้งโลกบริบูรณ์ และถ้าการพ่ายแพ้ของเขาเป็นเหตุให้คนต่างชาติบริบูรณ์ เขาจะยิ่งบริบูรณ์มากสักเท่าใด

¹³For I speak to you, the nations, inasmuch as *I* am apostle of nations, I glorify my ministry;

¹³แต่ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวแก่พวกท่านที่เป็นคนต่างชาติ เพราะข้าพเจ้าเป็นอัครสาวกมายังพวกต่างชาติ ข้าพเจ้าจึงยกย่องหน้าที่ของข้าพเจ้า

¹⁴if by any means I shall provoke to jealousy [them which are] my flesh, and shall save some from among them.

¹⁴เพื่อด้วยวิธีใดก็ตามข้าพเจ้าจะได้เร้าใจพี่น้องร่วมชาติของข้าพเจ้าให้เขาเอาอย่าง เพื่อให้เขารอดได้บ้าง

¹⁵For if their casting away [be the] world's reconciliation, what [their] reception but life from among [the] dead?

¹⁵เพราะว่า ถ้าการที่พี่น้องร่วมชาติของข้าพเจ้าถูกพระเจ้าทรงทอดทิ้งเสียแล้วเป็นเหตุให้คนทั้งโลกกลับคืนดีกับพระองค์ การที่พระองค์ทรงรับเขากลับมาอีกนั้น ก็เป็นอย่างไร ก็เป็นเหมือนกับว่าเขาได้ตายไปแล้วและกลับฟื้นขึ้นใหม่

¹⁶Now if the first-fruit [be] holy, the lump also; and if the root [be] holy, the branches also.

¹⁶ถ้าแป้งก้อนแรกบริสุทธิ์ ทั้งอ่างก็บริสุทธิ์ด้วย และถ้ารากบริสุทธิ์ กิ่งทั้งหมดก็บริสุทธิ์ด้วย

¹⁷Now if some of the branches have been broken out, and *thou*, being a wild olive tree, hast been grafted in amongst them, and hast become a fellow-partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

¹⁷แต่ถ้าทรงหักกิ่งบางกิ่งออกเสียแล้ว และได้ทรงนำท่านผู้เป็นกิ่งมะกอกเทศป่ามาต่อกิ่งไว้แทนกิ่งเหล่านั้น เพื่อให้เข้าเป็นส่วนได้รับน้ำเลี้ยงจากรากต้นมะกอกเทศ

¹⁸boast not against the branches; but if thou boast, [it is] not *thou* bearest the root, but the root thee.

¹⁸ท่านก็อย่าอวดดีต่อกิ่งเหล่านั้น ถ้าท่านอวดดี ใช่ว่าท่านได้เลี้ยงรากนั้นก็หาไม่ แต่รากต่างหากเลี้ยงท่าน

¹⁹Thou wilt say then, The branches have been broken out in order that *I* might be grafted in.

¹⁹ท่านอาจจะแย้งว่า "กิ่งเหล่านั้นได้ทรงหักออกเสียแล้วก็เพื่อจะได้ต่อกิ่งข้าไว้"

²⁰Right: they have been broken out through unbelief, and *thou* standest through faith. Be not high-minded, but fear:

²⁰ถูกแล้ว เขาถูกหักออกก็เพราะเขาไม่เชื่อ แต่ที่ท่านอยู่ได้ก็เพราะความเชื่อเท่านั้น อย่าเย่อหยิ่งไปเลย แต่จงเกรงกลัว

²¹if God indeed has not spared the natural branches; lest it might be he spare not thee either.

²¹เพราะว่าถ้าพระเจ้ามิได้ทรงงดโทษกิ่งเหล่านั้นที่เป็นกิ่งเดิม ก็เกรงว่าพระองค์จะไม่ทรงงดโทษท่านเหมือนกัน

²²Behold then [the] goodness and severity of God: upon them who have fallen, severity; upon thee goodness of God, if thou shalt abide in goodness, since [otherwise] *thou* also wilt be cut away.

²²เหตุฉะนั้นจงพิจารณาดูทั้งพระกรุณาและความเข้มงวดของพระเจ้า กับคนเหล่านั้นที่หลงผิดไปก็ทรงเข้มงวด แต่สำหรับท่านก็ทรงพระกรุณา ถ้าท่านจะดำรงอยู่ในพระกรุณาของพระองค์นั้นต่อไป มิฉะนั้นท่านก็จะถูกต้องตัดออกเสียด้วย

²³And *they* too, if they abide not in unbelief, shall be grafted in; for God is able again to graft them in.

²³ส่วนเขาทั้งหลายด้วย ถ้าเขาไม่ดำรงอยู่ในความไม่เชื่อสืบไป เขาก็จะได้รับการต่อกิ่งเข้าไปใหม่ เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงฤทธิ์ที่จะทรงให้เขาต่อกิ่งเข้าอีกได้

²⁴For if *thou* hast been cut out of the olive tree wild by nature, and, contrary to nature, hast been grafted into the good olive tree, how much rather shall they, who are according to nature be grafted into their own olive tree?

²⁴เพราะว่าถ้าพระเจ้าทรงตัดท่านออกจากต้นมะกอกเทศป่าซึ่งเป็นต้นไม้ตามธรรมชาติ และทรงนำมาต่อกิ่งกับต้นมะกอกเทศพันธุ์ดีซึ่งผิดธรรมชาติของมันแล้ว การที่จะเอากิ่งเหล่านั้น ซึ่งเป็นกิ่งเดิมมาต่อกิ่งเข้ากับต้นของมันเอง ก็จะง่ายยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใด

²⁵For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, of this mystery, that ye may not be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the nations be come in;

²⁵เหตุฉะนั้น พี่น้องทั้งหลาย ข้าพเจ้าไม่อยากให้ท่านทั้งหลายเขลาในข้อความลึกลับนี้ เกลือกว่าท่านจะอวดรู้ คือเรื่องที่บางคนในพวกอิสราเอลได้มีใจแข็งกระด้างไป จนถึงพวกต่างชาติได้เข้ามาครบจำนวน

²⁶and so all Israel shall be saved. According as it is written, The deliverer shall come out of Zion; he shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.

²⁶และเมื่อเป็นดังนั้น พวกอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็จะได้รับความรอด ตามที่มีคำเขียนไว้แล้วว่า `พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดจะเสด็จมาจากเมืองศิโยน และจะทรงกำจัดอธรรมให้สูญสิ้นไปจากยาโคบ

²⁷And this is the covenant from me to them, when I shall have taken away their sins.

²⁷นี่แหละเป็นพันธสัญญาของเรากับเขาทั้งหลาย เมื่อเราจะยกโทษบาปของเขา'

²⁸As regards the glad tidings, [they are] enemies on your account; but as regards election, beloved on account of the fathers.

²⁸ในเรื่องข่าวประเสริฐนั้น เขาเหล่านั้นก็เป็นศัตรูเพื่อประโยชน์ของพวกท่าน แต่ถ้าว่าตามที่ได้ทรงเลือกไว้ เขาทั้งหลายก็เป็นที่รักเนื่องจากบรรพบุรุษของเขา

²⁹For the gifts and the calling of God [are] not subject to repentance.

²⁹เพราะว่าพระเจ้ามิได้ทรงกลับพระทัยในการที่ได้ทรงให้ของประทานและทรงเรียกไว้

³⁰For as indeed *ye* [also] once have not believed in God, but now have been objects of mercy through the unbelief of *these*;

³⁰ท่านทั้งหลายเมื่อก่อนมิได้เชื่อพระเจ้า แต่บัดนี้ได้รับพระกรุณาเพราะความไม่เชื่อของพวกเขาเหล่านั้นฉันใด

³¹so these also have now not believed in your mercy, in order that *they* also may be objects of mercy.

³¹บัดนี้เขาเหล่านั้นก็มิได้เชื่อ เพื่อว่าเขาจะได้รับพระกรุณาโดยพระกรุณาที่ได้ประทานแก่ท่านทั้งหลายฉันนั้น

³²For God hath shut up together all in unbelief, in order that he might shew mercy to all.

³²เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงปล่อยให้คนทุกคนอยู่ในฐานะที่ไม่เชื่อ เพื่อพระองค์จะได้ทรงพระกรุณาแก่เขาทั้งหลายทุกคน

³³O depth of riches both of [the] wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable his judgments, and untraceable his ways!

³³โอ พระปัญญาและความรอบรู้ของพระเจ้านั้นล้ำลึกเท่าใด คำตัดสินของพระองค์นั้นเหลือที่จะหยั่งรู้ได้ และทางของพระองค์ก็เหลือที่จะสืบเสาะได้

³⁴For who has known [the] mind of [the] Lord, or who has been his counsellor?

³⁴เพราะว่า `ใครเล่ารู้จักพระทัยขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า หรือใครเล่าเป็นที่ปรึกษาพระองค์

³⁵or who has first given to him, and it shall be rendered to him?

³⁵หรือใครเล่าได้ถวายสิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดแก่พระองค์ ที่พระองค์จะต้องประทานตอบแทนให้แก่เขา'

³⁶For of him, and through him, and for him [are] all things: to him be glory for ever. Amen.
