1Amataj, kredu ne al cxiu spirito, sed provu la spiritojn, cxu ili estas el Dio; cxar multaj falsaj profetoj eliris en la mondon.
1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, if they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2Jen kiel vi ekkonas la Spiriton de Dio:cxiu spirito, kiu konfesas, ke Jesuo Kristo venis en la karno, estas el Dio;
2Hereby ye know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses Jesus Christ come in flesh is of God;
3kaj cxiu spirito, kiu ne konfesas Jesuon, ne estas el Dio; kaj cxi tiu estas la spirito de antikristo, pri kiu vi auxdis, ke gxi venas; kaj nun gxi jam estas en la mondo.
3and every spirit which does not confess Jesus Christ come in flesh is not of God: and this is that [power] of the antichrist, [of] which ye have heard that it comes, and now it is already in the world.
4Infanetoj, vi estas el Dio, kaj ilin venkis; cxar pli granda estas Tiu, kiu estas en vi, ol tiu, kiu estas en la mondo.
4*Ye* are of God, children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that [is] in you than he that [is] in the world.
5Ili estas el la mondo; pro tio ili parolas laux la mondo, kaj la mondo ilin auxskultas.
5*They* are of the world; for this reason they speak [as] of the world, and the world hears them.
6Ni estas el Dio; kiu konas Dion, tiu nin auxskultas; kiu ne estas el Dio, tiu nin ne auxskultas. Jen kiel ni ekkonas la spiriton de vero, kaj la spiriton de eraro.
6*We* are of God; he that knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7Amataj, ni amu unu la alian; cxar la amo estas el Dio; kaj cxiu, kiu amas, naskigxas el Dio kaj Dion konas.
7Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God, and every one that loves has been begotten of God, and knows God.
8Kiu ne amas, tiu ne konas Dion, cxar Dio estas amo.
8He that loves not has not known God; for God is love.
9Jen kiel la amo de Dio elmontrigxis en ni:ke Dio sendis en la mondon Sian Filon solenaskitan, por ke ni vivu per li.
9Herein as to us has been manifested the love of God, that God has sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Jen estas la amo, ne ke ni amis Dion, sed ke Li amis nin, kaj sendis Sian Filon kiel repacigon pro niaj pekoj.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.
11Amataj, se Dio tiel amis nin, ni ankaux devus ami unu la alian.
11Beloved, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12Dion neniu iam vidis; se ni reciproke nin amas, Dio restas en ni, kaj Lia amo perfektigxis en ni;
12No one has seen God at any time: if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13jen kiel ni scias, ke ni restas en Li, kaj Li en ni:cxar el Sia Spirito Li donis al ni.
13Hereby we know that we abide in him and he in us, that he has given to us of his Spirit.
14Kaj ni vidis kaj atestas, ke la Patro sendis la Filon por esti la Savonto de la mondo.
14And *we* have seen, and testify, that the Father has sent the Son [as] Saviour of the world.
15En cxiu ajn, kiu konfesas, ke Jesuo estas la Filo de Dio, Dio restas, kaj li en Dio.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16Kaj ni konas kaj kredis la amon, kiun Dio havas al ni. Dio estas amo; kaj kiu restas en amo, tiu restas en Dio, kaj Dio restas en li.
16And *we* have known and have believed the love which God has to us. God is love, and he that abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17Jen kiel amo perfektigxis cxe ni:ke ni havu kuragxon en la tago de jugxo; cxar gxuste kia li estas, tiaj ankaux ni estas en cxi tiu mondo.
17Herein has love been perfected with us that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that even as *he* is, *we* also are in this world.
18Timo ne ekzistas en amo; sed perfekta amo eljxetas timon, cxar timo havas turmentegon; kaj timanto ne perfektigxas en amo.
18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has torment, and he that fears has not been made perfect in love.
19Ni amas, cxar Li unue nin amis.
19*We* love because *he* has first loved us.
20Se iu diras:Mi amas Dion, kaj malamas sian fraton-tiu estas mensoganto; cxar kiu ne amas sian fraton, kiun li vidis, tiu ne povas ami Dion, kiun li ne vidis.
20If any one say, I love God, and hate his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
21Kaj la jenan ordonon ni havas de Li:ke kiu amas Dion, tiu amu ankaux sian fraton.
21And this commandment have we from him, That he that loves God love also his brother.
