¹Kiam do ni jam ne povis resti trankvilaj, ni decidis esti lasitaj solaj en Ateno;

¹Wherefore, being no longer able to refrain ourselves, we thought good to be left alone in Athens,

²kaj ni sendis Timoteon, nian fraton kaj servanton de Dio en la evangelio de Kristo, por firmigi vin kaj konsoli vin pri via fido,

²and sent Timotheus, our brother and fellow-workman under God in the glad tidings of Christ, to confirm you and encourage [you] concerning your faith,

³por ke neniu estu sxancelita de tiuj afliktoj; cxar vi mem scias, ke ili apartenas al nia sorto.

³that no one might be moved by these afflictions. (For yourselves know that we are set for this;

⁴CXar kiam ni estis cxe vi, ni antauxdiris al vi, ke ni nepre suferos; kaj tio efektive okazis, kiel vi ja scias.

⁴for also, when we were with you, we told you beforehand we are about to be in tribulation, even as also it came to pass, and ye know.)

⁵Pro tio mi ankaux, kiam mi jam ne povis resti trankvila, sendis, por ke mi certigxu pri via fido, pro timo, ke eble la tentanto vin tentis kaj ke nia laboro farigxos senutila.

⁵For this reason *I* also, no longer able to refrain myself, sent to know your faith, lest perhaps the tempter had tempted you and our labour should be come to nothing.

⁶Sed kiam Timoteo, jxus veninte al ni de vi, donis al ni bonajn sciigojn pri via fido kaj via amo, kaj ke vi cxiam memoras nin bonkore, sopirante vidi nin, kiel ni ankaux vin,

⁶But Timotheus having just come to us from you, and brought to us the glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have always good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, even as we also you;

⁷pro tio ni konsoligxis, fratoj, pri vi, en cxia nia malgxojo kaj aflikto, per via fido;

⁷for this reason we have been comforted in you, brethren, in all our distress and tribulation, through your faith,

⁸cxar nun ni vivas, se vi staras firme en la Sinjoro.

⁸because now we live if *ye* stand firm in [the] Lord.

⁹CXar kian dankon ni povas repagi al Dio pri vi, pro la tuta gxojo, per kiu ni gxojas pro vi antaux Dio;

⁹For what thanksgiving can we render to God for you, for all the joy wherewith we rejoice on account of you before our God,

¹⁰nokte kaj tage pregxante fervore, ke ni povu vidi vian vizagxon kaj perfektigi la mankojn de via fido?

¹⁰night and day beseeching exceedingly to the end that we may see your face, and perfect what is lacking in your faith?

¹¹Nia Dio kaj Patro mem kaj nia Sinjoro Jesuo direktu nian vojon al vi;

¹¹But our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.

¹²kaj la Sinjoro pligrandigu kaj abundigu cxe vi la amon de unu al la alia kaj al cxiuj, kiel ni amas vin;

¹²But you, may the Lord make to exceed and abound in love toward one another, and toward all, even as we also towards you,

¹³por ke li faru viajn korojn senkulpaj kaj sanktaj antaux nia Dio kaj Patro, cxe la alveno de nia Sinjoro Jesuo kun cxiuj liaj sanktuloj.

¹³in order to the confirming of your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
