¹Fine do, fratoj, ni petegas kaj admonas vin en la Sinjoro Jesuo, ke kiamaniere vi lernis de ni, kiel vi devus iradi kaj placxi al Dio (kaj vi ja tiel iradas), tiamaniere vi pli kaj pli abunde agu.

¹For the rest, then, brethren, we beg you and exhort you in [the] Lord Jesus, even as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and please God, even as ye also do walk, that ye would abound still more.

²CXar vi scias, kian admonon ni donis al vi en la Sinjoro Jesuo.

²For ye know what charges we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

³CXar jen estas la volo de Dio, via sanktigxo, ke vi vin detenu de malcxasteco;

³For this is [the] will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication;

⁴ke cxiu el vi sciu preni al si sian propran ajxon en sankteco kaj honoro,

⁴that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour,

⁵ne en la pasio de volupto, kiel la nacianoj, kiuj ne konas Dion;

⁵(not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,)

⁶ke neniu peku kaj trompu sian fraton en cxi tio; cxar la Eternulo estas vengxanto en cxio tio, kiel ankaux ni antauxavertis vin kaj atestis.

⁶not overstepping the rights of and wronging his brother in the matter, because the Lord [is] the avenger of all these things, even as we also told you before, and have fully testified.

⁷CXar Dio nin vokis ne por malpureco, sed por sanktigxo.

⁷For God has not called us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.

⁸Tiu do, kiu malakceptas, malakceptas ne homon, sed Dion, kiu donas al vi Sian Sanktan Spiriton.

⁸He therefore that [in this] disregards [his brother], disregards, not man, but God, who has given also his Holy Spirit to you.

⁹Sed pri amo al la frataro, vi ne bezonas, ke oni skribu al vi, cxar vi mem estas instruitaj de Dio ami unu la alian;

⁹Now concerning brotherly love ye have no need that we should write to you, for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

¹⁰cxar vi ja tion faras al cxiuj fratoj, kiuj estas en la tuta Makedonujo. Sed ni admonas vin, fratoj, ke vi amu pli kaj pli abunde,

¹⁰For also ye do this towards all the brethren in the whole of Macedonia; but we exhort you, brethren, to abound still more,

¹¹kaj ke vi celu esti kvietaj, kaj fari viajn proprajn aferojn, kaj labori per viaj manoj, gxuste kiel ni al vi ordonis;

¹¹and to seek earnestly to be quiet and mind your own affairs, and work with your [own] hands, even as we charged you,

¹²por ke vi iradu konvene antaux tiuj, kiuj estas ekstere, kaj por ke nenio al vi manku.

¹²that ye may walk reputably towards those without, and may have need of no one.

¹³Sed ni ne volas, fratoj, ke vi ne sciu pri tiuj, kiuj endormigxis; por ke vi ne malgxoju, kiel la ceteraj, kiuj havas nenian esperon.

¹³But we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are fallen asleep, to the end that ye be not grieved even as also the rest who have no hope.

¹⁴CXar se ni kredas, ke Jesuo mortis kaj relevigxis, tiel ankaux tiujn, kiuj endormigxis en Jesuo, Dio venigos kun li.

¹⁴For if we believe that Jesus has died and has risen again, so also God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.

¹⁵CXar ni diras al vi per la vorto de la Sinjoro, ke ni, kiuj estos vivaj, restantaj gxis la alveno de la Sinjoro, tute ne havos lokon antaux la endormigxintoj.

¹⁵(For this we say to you in [the] word of [the] Lord, that *we*, the living, who remain to the coming of the Lord, are in no way to anticipate those who have fallen asleep;

¹⁶CXar la Sinjoro mem malsupreniros de la cxielo, kun signalkrio, kun la vocxo de la cxefangxelo, kaj kun la trumpeto de Dio; kaj la mortintoj en Kristo levigxos la unuaj;

¹⁶for the Lord himself, with an assembling shout, with archangel's voice and with trump of God, shall descend from heaven; and the dead in Christ shall rise first;

¹⁷poste ni, kiuj vivas, ankoraux restantaj, estos kune kun ili suprenkaptitaj en la nubojn, por renkonti la Sinjoron en la aero; kaj tiel ni estos por cxiam kun la Sinjoro.

¹⁷then *we*, the living who remain, shall be caught up together with them in [the] clouds, to meet the Lord in [the] air; and thus we shall be always with [the] Lord.

¹⁸Tial per tiuj vortoj konsolu unu la alian.

¹⁸So encourage one another with these words.)
