¹Sed pri la tempoj kaj okazoj, fratoj, vi ne bezonas, ke oni skribu al vi.

¹But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that ye should be written to,

²CXar vi mem tute bone scias, ke la tago de la Sinjoro venas, kiel sxtelisto en la nokto.

²for ye know perfectly well yourselves, that the day of [the] Lord so comes as a thief by night.

³Dum oni diras:Paco kaj sendangxereco, tiam subita detruo venas sur ilin, kiel naskodoloro al gravedulino, kaj ili tute ne forsavigxos.

³When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon her that is with child; and they shall in no wise escape.

⁴Sed vi, fratoj, ne estas en mallumo tiel, ke tiu tago vin trafus kiel sxtelisto;

⁴But *ye*, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief:

⁵cxar vi cxiuj estas filoj de lumo kaj filoj de la tago; ni ne estas el la nokto, nek el mallumo;

⁵for all *ye* are sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night nor of darkness.

⁶tial ni ne dormu, kiel la ceteraj, sed ni viglu kaj estu sobraj.

⁶So then do not let us sleep as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober;

⁷CXar kiuj dormas, tiuj dormas en la nokto; kaj kiuj ebriigxas, tiuj ebriigxas en la nokto.

⁷for they that sleep sleep by night, and they that drink drink by night;

⁸Sed cxar ni estas el la tago, ni estu sobraj, surmetante la kirason de fido kaj amo, kaj, kiel kaskon, la esperon de savo.

⁸but *we* being of [the] day, let us be sober, putting on [the] breastplate of faith and love, and as helmet [the] hope of salvation;

⁹CXar Dio nin destinis ne al kolero, sed al la ricevo de savado per nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo,

⁹because God has not set us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁰kiu mortis por ni, por ke ni vivu kune kun li, cxu ni maldormos aux dormos.

¹⁰who has died for us, that whether we may be watching or sleep, we may live together with him.

¹¹Tial admonu vin reciproke kaj edifu unu la alian, kiel ankaux vi jam faradas.

¹¹Wherefore encourage one another, and build up each one the other, even as also ye do.

¹²Sed ni petegas vin, fratoj, koni tiujn, kiuj laboras cxe vi kaj estras cxe vi en la Sinjoro kaj vin admonas,

¹²But we beg you, brethren, to know those who labour among you, and take the lead among you in [the] Lord, and admonish you,

¹³kaj estimi ilin treege kun amo pro ilia laboro. Estu pacemaj unu kun la alia.

¹³and to regard them exceedingly in love on account of their work. Be in peace among yourselves.

¹⁴Kaj ni petas vin, fratoj, admonu la senordulojn, kuragxigu la nebravulojn, subtenu la malfortulojn, estu paciencaj kontraux cxiuj.

¹⁴But we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, be patient towards all.

¹⁵Zorgu, ke neniu redonu al iu malbonon por malbono; sed cxiam sekvu tion, kio estas bona, unu por alia kaj por cxiuj.

¹⁵See that no one render to any evil for evil, but pursue always what is good towards one another and towards all;

¹⁶GXoju cxiam;

¹⁶rejoice always;

¹⁷pregxu sencxese;

¹⁷pray unceasingly;

¹⁸pri cxio donu dankon; cxar tia estas la volo de Dio en Kristo Jesuo pri vi.

¹⁸in everything give thanks, for this is [the] will of God in Christ Jesus towards you;

¹⁹Ne estingu la Spiriton;

¹⁹quench not the Spirit;

²⁰ne malestimu profetajxojn;

²⁰do not lightly esteem prophecies;

²¹elprovu cxion; tenu firme tion, kio estas bona;

²¹but prove all things, hold fast the right;

²²detenu vin de cxia formo de malbono.

²²hold aloof from every form of wickedness.

²³Kaj la Dio de paco vin sanktigu tute; kaj via spirito kaj animo kaj korpo estu plene konservitaj sen kulpo, cxe la alveno de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo.

²³Now the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly: and your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁴Fidela estas Tiu, kiu vin vokas, kiu ankaux faros.

²⁴He [is] faithful who calls you, who will also perform [it].

²⁵Fratoj, pregxu por ni.

²⁵Brethren, pray for us.

²⁶Salutu cxiujn fratojn per sankta kiso.

²⁶Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

²⁷Mi solene petegas vin per la Sinjoro, ke oni legu cxi tiun epistolon antaux la tuta frataro.

²⁷I adjure you by the Lord that the letter be read to all the [holy] brethren.

²⁸La graco de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo estu kun vi.

²⁸The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you.
