¹Nun ni petegas vin, fratoj, koncerne la alvenon de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo kaj nian alkolektigxon al li,

¹Now we beg you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him,

²ke vi ne farigxu facile skueblaj mense, kaj ne konsternigxu, cxu per spirito, aux per parolo, aux per letero sxajne de ni, kvazaux la tago de la Sinjoro jam apudestus;

²that ye be not soon shaken in mind, nor troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as [if it were] by us, as that the day of the Lord is present.

³neniu vin trompu iamaniere; cxar nepre antauxe okazos la apostateco, kaj la homo de peko malkasxigxos, la filo de pereo,

³Let not any one deceive you in any manner, because [it will not be] unless the apostasy have first come, and the man of sin have been revealed, the son of perdition;

⁴kiu kontrauxmetas sin kaj levas sin super cxion, kion oni nomas Dio aux adoras; tiel, ke li sidas en la templo de Dio, elmontrante sin, kvazaux li estas Dio.

⁴who opposes and exalts himself on high against all called God, or object of veneration; so that he himself sits down in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

⁵CXu vi ne memoras, ke mi diris tion al vi, dum mi estis kun vi?

⁵Do ye not remember that, being yet with you, I said these things to you?

⁶Kaj nun vi scias, kio malhelpas, por ke li malkasxigxu siatempe.

⁶And now ye know that which restrains, that he should be revealed in his own time.

⁷CXar la mistero de maljusteco jam energias; sed restas ankoraux la malhelpanto, gxis li estos formovita.

⁷For the mystery of lawlessness already works; only [there is] he who restrains now until he be gone,

⁸Kaj tiam malkasxigxos la maljustulo, kiun la Sinjoro Jesuo detruos per la spiro de sia busxo kaj neniigos per la apero de sia alveno;

⁸and then the lawless one shall be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall consume with the breath of his mouth, and shall annul by the appearing of his coming;

⁹tiun, kies alveno estas pro la energio de Satano kun cxia potenco kaj kun signoj kaj mensogaj mirindajxoj,

⁹whose coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and wonders of falsehood,

¹⁰kaj kun cxia trompo de maljusteco por la pereantoj, pro tio, ke ili ne ricevis la amon al la vero por esti savitaj.

¹⁰and in all deceit of unrighteousness to them that perish, because they have not received the love of the truth that they might be saved.

¹¹Kaj pro tio Dio sendas al ili energion de eraro, tiel, ke ili kredos mensogon;

¹¹And for this reason God sends to them a working of error, that they should believe what is false,

¹²por ke estu jugxataj cxiuj, kiuj ne kredis la veron, sed trovis plezuron en maljusteco.

¹²that all might be judged who have not believed the truth, but have found pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹³Sed ni devas cxiam danki Dion pro vi, fratoj, amataj de la Sinjoro, pro tio, ke Dio vin elektis de la komenco al savo en la sanktigo de la Spirito kaj kredo al la vero;

¹³But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of [the] Lord, that God has chosen you from [the] beginning to salvation in sanctification of [the] Spirit and belief of [the] truth:

¹⁴al kiu Li vin vokis per nia evangelio, por la akiro de la gloro de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo.

¹⁴whereto he has called you by our glad tidings, to [the] obtaining of [the] glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵Tial, fratoj, staru firme, kaj tenu la tradiciojn, kiujn vi lernis cxu per parolo, aux per ia letero nia.

¹⁵So then, brethren, stand firm, and hold fast the instructions which ye have been taught, whether by word or by our letter.

¹⁶Nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo mem, kaj Dio, nia Patro, kiu nin amis kaj al ni donis eternan konsolon kaj bonan esperon per graco,

¹⁶But our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us, and given [us] eternal consolation and good hope by grace,

¹⁷konsolu viajn korojn kaj fortigu ilin por cxia bona faro kaj vorto.

¹⁷encourage your hearts, and establish you in every good work and word.
