¹Mi faris interligon kun miaj okuloj, Ke mi ne atentu virgulinon.

¹I made a covenant with mine eyes; and how should I fix my regard upon a maid?

²Kia estas la parto, kiun donas Dio de supre? Kaj kion destinas la Plejpotenculo el la altaj sferoj?

²For what would have been [my] portion of +God from above, and what the heritage of the Almighty from on high?

³CXu ne malfelicxon al malpiulo, Kaj forpusxon de malbonagantoj?

³Is not calamity for the unrighteous? and misfortune for the workers of iniquity?

⁴CXu Li ne vidas mian konduton, Ne kalkulas cxiujn miajn pasxojn?

⁴Doth not he see my ways, and number all my steps?

⁵CXu mi iradis en malvero, Kaj miaj piedoj rapidis al trompo?

⁵If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot hath hasted to deceit,

⁶Li pesu min per justa pesilo, Kaj tiam Dio konvinkigxos pri mia senkulpeco.

⁶(Let me be weighed in an even balance, and +God will take knowledge of my blamelessness;)

⁷Se mia pasxo forklinigxis de la vojo, Se mia koro sekvis miajn okulojn, Kaj se al mia mano algluigxis makulo:

⁷If my step have turned out of the way, and my heart followed mine eyes, and if any blot cleaveth to my hands;

⁸Tiam mi semu kaj alia mangxu, Kaj mia idaro elradikigxu.

⁸Let me sow, and another eat; and let mine offspring be rooted out.

⁹Se mia koro forlogigxis al virino, Kaj mi kasxe atendis cxe la pordo de mia amiko:

⁹If my heart have been enticed unto a woman, so that I laid wait at my neighbour's door,

¹⁰Tiam mia edzino estu adultigata de aliulo, Kaj aliuloj klinigxu super sxi.

¹⁰Let my wife grind for another, and let others bow down upon her.

¹¹CXar tio estus malvirto, Tio estus krimo, kiun devas puni jugxistoj.

¹¹For this is an infamy; yea, it is an iniquity [to be judged by] the judges:

¹²Tio estas fajro, kiu ekstermas gxis la abismo, Kaj mian tutan akiritajxon gxi elradikigus.

¹²For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.

¹³CXu mi malsxatis la rajton de mia servisto aux de mia servistino, Kiam ili havis jugxan aferon kun mi?

¹³If I have despised the cause of my bondman or of my bondmaid, when they contended with me,

¹⁴Tiam kion mi farus, kiam Dio levigxus? Kaj kion mi respondus al Li, kiam Li esplordemandus?

¹⁴What then should I do when ùGod riseth up? and if he visited, what should I answer him?

¹⁵Lin kreis ja Tiu sama, kiu kreis min en la ventro, Kaj Tiu sama pretigis en la ventro ankaux lin.

¹⁵Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not One fashion us in the womb?

¹⁶CXu mi rifuzis la deziron de senhavuloj? Aux cxu mi turmentis la okulojn de vidvino?

¹⁶If I have withheld the poor from [their] desire, or caused the eyes of the widow to fail;

¹⁷CXu mian panpecon mi mangxis sola? CXu ne mangxis de gxi ankaux orfo?

¹⁷Or have eaten my morsel alone, so that the fatherless ate not thereof,

¹⁸CXar detempe de mia juneco mi estis kiel patro, Kaj de post la eliro el la ventro de mia patrino mi estis gvidisto.

¹⁸(For from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, and I have guided the [widow] from my mother's womb;)

¹⁹Kiam mi vidis malfelicxulon sen vesto Kaj malricxulon sen kovro,

¹⁹If I have seen any perishing for want of clothing, or any needy without covering;

²⁰CXu tiam ne benis min liaj lumboj, CXu li ne estis varmigata per la lano de miaj sxafoj?

²⁰If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my lambs;

²¹Se mi levis mian manon kontraux orfon, CXar mi vidis en la pordego helpon al mi,

²¹If I have lifted up my hand against an orphan, because I saw my help in the gate:

²²En tia okazo mia sxultro defalu de la dorso, Kaj mia brako rompigxu de kano.

²²[Then] let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone!

²³CXar mi timas la punon de Dio, Kaj gxian pezon mi ne povus elteni.

²³For calamity from ùGod was a terror to me, and by reason of his excellency I was powerless.

²⁴CXu mi faris la oron mia espero, Kaj la orbulon mi nomis mia fido?

²⁴If I have made gold my hope, or said to the fine gold, My confidence!

²⁵CXu mi gxojis, ke mia ricxeco estas granda Kaj ke mia mano multe akiris?

²⁵If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

²⁶Kiam mi vidis la lumon brilantan Kaj la lunon majeste irantan,

²⁶If I beheld the sun when it shone, or the moon walking in brightness,

²⁷CXu tiam sekrete forlogigxis mia koro Kaj mi sendis kisojn per mia mano?

²⁷And my heart have been secretly enticed, so that my mouth kissed my hand:

²⁸Ankaux tio estus krimo jugxinda, CXar mi forneus per tio Dion en la alto.

²⁸This also would be an iniquity for the judge, for I should have denied the ùGod who is above.

²⁹CXu mi gxojis pri malfelicxo de mia malamiko? Aux cxu mi estis ravita, se lin trafis malbono?

²⁹If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, and exulted when evil befell him;

³⁰Mi ne permesis al mia gorgxo peki Per eldiro de malbeno kontraux lia animo.

³⁰(Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse;)

³¹CXu la homoj de mia tendo ne diris: Ho, se oni ne satigxus de lia karno!

³¹If the men of my tent said not, Who shall find one that hath not been satisfied with his meat? --

³²Ne noktis fremdulo sur la strato; Miajn pordojn mi malfermadis al migrantoj.

³²The stranger did not lodge without; I opened my doors to the pathway.

³³CXu mi hommaniere kovradis miajn kulpojn, Por kasxi en mia brusto miajn pekojn?

³³If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom,

³⁴En tia okazo mi timus grandan homamason, Kaj malestimo de familioj min timigus; Mi silentus, kaj ne elirus ekster la pordon.

³⁴Because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and went not out of the door, ...

³⁵Ho, se iu auxskultus min! Jen estas mia signo; la Plejpotenculo respondu al mi. Se mia akuzanto skribus libron,

³⁵Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my signature: let the Almighty answer me! And let mine opponent write an accusation!

³⁶Mi portus gxin sur mia sxultro, Mi metus gxin sur min kiel kronon,

³⁶Would I not take it upon my shoulder? I would bind it on to me [as] a crown;

³⁷Mi raportus al li pri la nombro de miaj pasxoj; Mi alproksimigxus al li kiel al princo.

³⁷I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I come near to him.

³⁸Se mia lando kriis kontraux mi, Kaj gxiaj sulkoj ploris,

³⁸If my land cry out against me, and its furrows weep together;

³⁹Se gxiajn fruktojn mi mangxis senpage, Kaj mi afliktis la animon de gxiaj mastroj:

³⁹If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, and have tormented to death the souls of its owners:

⁴⁰Tiam anstataux tritiko kresku por mi kardo, Kaj anstataux hordeo dornoj. Finigxis la paroloj de Ijob.

⁴⁰Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and tares instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
