¹Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear mine utterances, and hearken to all my words.

²Jen mi malfermis mian busxon, Parolas mia lango en mia gorgxo.

²Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my palate,

³GXuste el mia koro estas miaj paroloj, Kaj puran scion eldiros miaj lipoj.

³My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart, and my lips shall utter knowledge purely.

⁴La spirito de Dio min kreis, Kaj la spiro de la Plejpotenculo min vivigas.

⁴The Spirit of ùGod hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

⁵Se vi povas, respondu al mi; Armu vin kontraux mi, kaj starigxu.

⁵If thou canst, answer me; array [thy words] before me: take thy stand.

⁶Jen mi simile al vi estas de Dio; Mi ankaux estas farita el argilo.

⁶Behold, before ùGod I am as thou; I also am formed out of the clay.

⁷Vidu, vi ne bezonas timi min, Kaj mia sxargxo ne pezos sur vi.

⁷Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, nor my burden be heavy upon thee.

⁸Vi parolis antaux miaj oreloj, Kaj mi auxdis la sonon de tiaj vortoj:

⁸Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of [thy] words: --

⁹Mi estas pura, sen malbonagoj; Senkulpa, mi ne havas pekon;

⁹I am clean without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me;

¹⁰Jen Li trovis ion riprocxindan en mi, Li rigardas min kiel Lian malamikon;

¹⁰Lo, he findeth occasions of hostility against me, he counteth me for his enemy;

¹¹Li metis miajn piedojn en sxtipon; Li observas cxiujn miajn vojojn.

¹¹He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

¹²Sed en tio vi ne estas prava, mi respondas al vi; CXar Dio estas pli granda ol homo.

¹²Behold, I will answer thee in this, thou art not right; for +God is greater than man.

¹³Kial vi havas pretendon kontraux Li pro tio, Ke Li ne donas al vi kalkulraporton pri cxiuj Siaj faroj?

¹³Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

¹⁴Cetere Dio parolas en unu maniero kaj en alia maniero, Sed oni tion ne rimarkas.

¹⁴For ùGod speaketh once, and twice, -- [and man] perceiveth it not --

¹⁵En songxo, en nokta vizio, Kiam sur la homojn falis dormo, Kiam ili dormas sur la lito,

¹⁵In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

¹⁶Tiam Li malfermas la orelon de la homoj, Kaj, doninte instruon, sigelas gxin,

¹⁶Then he openeth men's ears, and sealeth their instruction,

¹⁷Por deturni homon de ia faro Kaj gardi viron kontraux fiereco,

¹⁷That he may withdraw man [from his] work, and hide pride from man.

¹⁸Por sxirmi lian animon kontraux pereo Kaj lian vivon kontraux falo sub glavon.

¹⁸He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.

¹⁹Ankaux per malsano sur lia lito Li avertas lin, Kiam cxiuj liaj ostoj estas ankoraux fortaj.

¹⁹He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and with constant strife in his bones;

²⁰Kaj abomenata farigxas por li en lia vivo la mangxajxo, Kaj por lia animo la frandajxo.

²⁰And his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty food;

²¹Lia karno konsumigxas tiel, ke oni gxin jam ne vidas; Kaj elstaras liaj ostoj, kiuj antauxe estis nevideblaj.

²¹His flesh is consumed away from view, and his bones that were not seen stick out;

²²Kaj lia animo alproksimigxas al la pereo, Kaj lia vivo al la mortigo.

²²And his soul draweth near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.

²³Sed se li havas por si angxelon proparolanton, Kvankam unu el mil, Kiu elmontrus pri la homo lian pravecon,

²³If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his duty;

²⁴Tiam Li indulgas lin, kaj diras: Liberigu lin, ke li ne malsupreniru en la tombon, CXar Mi trovis pardonigon.

²⁴Then he will be gracious unto him, and say, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

²⁵Tiam lia korpo farigxas denove fresxa, kiel en la juneco; Li revenas al la tagoj de sia knabeco.

²⁵His flesh shall be fresher than in childhood; he shall return to the days of his youth.

²⁶Li pregxas al Dio, Kaj cxi Tiu korfavoras lin, Kaj montras al li Sian vizagxon kun gxojo, Kaj rekompencas la homon laux lia virteco.

²⁶He shall pray unto +God, and he will receive him with favour; and he shall see his face with shoutings, and he will render unto man his righteousness.

²⁷Li rigardas la homojn, kaj diras: Mi pekis, la veron mi kripligis, Kaj Li ne repagis al mi;

²⁷He will sing before men, and say, I have sinned, and perverted what was right, and it hath not been requited to me;

²⁸Li liberigis mian animon, ke gxi ne iru en pereon, Kaj mia vivo vidas la lumon.

²⁸He hath delivered my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.

²⁹CXion cxi tion Dio faras Du aux tri fojojn kun homo,

²⁹Lo, all these [things] worketh ùGod twice, thrice, with man,

³⁰Por deturni lian animon de pereo Kaj prilumi lin per la lumo de vivo.

³⁰To bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.

³¹Atentu, Ijob, auxskultu min; Silentu, kaj mi parolos.

³¹Mark well, Job, hearken unto me; be silent, and I will speak.

³²Se vi havas, kion diri, respondu al mi; Parolu, cxar mi dezirus, ke vi montrigxu prava.

³²If thou hast anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify thee.

³³Se ne, tiam auxskultu min; Silentu, kaj mi instruos al vi sagxon.

³³If not, hearken thou unto me; be silent, and I will teach thee wisdom.
