¹But Jesus went to the mount of Olives.

²Kaj li revenis frumatene en la templon, kaj la tuta popolo venis al li; kaj li sidigxis, kaj instruadis ilin.

²And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.

³Kaj la skribistoj kaj Fariseoj alkondukis virinon, kaptitan en adulto; kaj stariginte sxin en la mezo,

³And the scribes and the Pharisees bring [to him] a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,

⁴ili diris al li:Majstro, cxi tiu virino estas kaptita adultante, en la faro mem.

⁴they say to him, Teacher, this woman has been taken in the very act, committing adultery.

⁵En la legxo Moseo ordonis al ni tiajn sxtonmortigi; sed kion vi diras?

⁵Now in the law Moses has commanded us to stone such; thou therefore, what sayest thou?

⁶Kaj tion ili diris, provante lin, por povi lin akuzi pri io. Sed Jesuo sin klinis, kaj per fingro skribis sur la tero.

⁶But this they said proving him, that they might have [something] to accuse him [of]. But Jesus, having stooped down, wrote with his finger on the ground.

⁷Kiam ili ankoraux demandis lin, li levigxis, kaj diris al ili:Kiu el vi estas senpeka, tiu unua jxetu sur sxin sxtonon.

⁷But when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, Let him that is without sin among you first cast the stone at her.

⁸Kaj denove li sin klinis kaj skribis sur la tero.

⁸And again stooping down he wrote on the ground.

⁹Sed auxdinte tion, ili eliris unu post alia, komencante de la plej maljunaj kaj gxis la lastaj; kaj restis Jesuo sola, kaj la virino staranta en la mezo.

⁹But they, having heard [that], went out one by one beginning from the elder ones until the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing there.

¹⁰Kaj Jesuo levigxis, kaj diris al sxi:Virino, kie ili estas? cxu neniu vin kondamnis?

¹⁰And Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said to her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee?

¹¹Kaj sxi diris:Neniu, Sinjoro. Jesuo diris al sxi:Ankaux mi vin ne kondamnas; iru, kaj de nun ne plu peku.

¹¹And she said, No one, sir. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

¹²Jesuo denove parolis al ili, dirante:Mi estas la lumo de la mondo; kiu min sekvas, tiu ne iros en mallumo, sed havos la lumon de la vivo.

¹²Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹³The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou bearest witness concerning thyself; thy witness is not true.

¹⁴Jesuo respondis kaj diris al ili:Kvankam mi atestas pri mi mem, tamen mia atesto estas vera; cxar mi scias, de kie mi venis, kaj kien mi iras; sed vi ne scias, de kie mi venis, nek kien mi iras.

¹⁴Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is true, because I know whence I came and whither I go: but ye know not whence I come and whither I go.

¹⁵Vi jugxas laux la karno; mi jugxas neniun.

¹⁵Ye judge according to the flesh, I judge no one.

¹⁶Tamen, ecx se mi jugxas, mia jugxo estas vera; cxar mi ne estas sola, sed mi kaj la Patro, kiu min sendis.

¹⁶And if also I judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who has sent me.

¹⁷Estas ja skribite en via legxo, ke la atesto de du homoj estas vera.

¹⁷And in your law too it is written that the testimony of two men is true:

¹⁸Mi estas atestanto pri mi mem, kaj la Patro, kiu min sendis, atestas pri mi.

¹⁸I am [one] who bear witness concerning myself, and the Father who has sent me bears witness concerning me.

¹⁹Ili do diris al li:Kie estas via Patro? Respondis Jesuo:Vi konas nek min, nek mian Patron; se vi konus min, vi konus ankaux mian Patron.

¹⁹They said to him therefore, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me nor my Father. If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father.

²⁰Tiujn vortojn Jesuo parolis en la trezorejo, dum li instruis en la templo; kaj neniu arestis lin, cxar lia horo ankoraux ne venis.

²⁰These words spoke he in the treasury, teaching in the temple; and no one took him, for his hour was not yet come.

²¹Jesuo do denove diris al ili:Mi foriras, kaj vi sercxos min, kaj vi mortos en via peko; kien mi iras, tien vi ne povas veni.

²¹He said therefore again to them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin; where I go ye cannot come.

²²La Judoj do diris:CXu li sin mortigos? cxar li diras:Kien mi iras, tien vi ne povas veni.

²²The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, that he says, Where I go ye cannot come?

²³Kaj li diris al ili:Vi estas de malsupre, mi estas de supre; vi estas de cxi tiu mondo, mi ne estas de cxi tiu mondo.

²³And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above. Ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

²⁴Mi tial diris al vi, ke vi mortos en viaj pekoj; cxar se vi ne kredos, ke mi estas, vi mortos en viaj pekoj.

²⁴I said therefore to you, that ye shall die in your sins; for unless ye shall believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

²⁵Ili do diris al li:Kiu vi estas? Jesuo diris al ili:Laux tio, kion mi diradis al vi de la komenco.

²⁵They said therefore to him, Who art thou? [And] Jesus said to them, Altogether that which I also say to you.

²⁶Mi havas multon por diri kaj jugxi pri vi; sed Tiu, kiu min sendis, estas vera; kaj tion, kion mi auxdis de Li, mi parolas al la mondo.

²⁶I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but he that has sent me is true, and I, what I have heard from him, these things I say to the world.

²⁷Ili ne komprenis, ke li parolas al ili pri la Patro.

²⁷They knew not that he spoke to them of the Father.

²⁸Jesuo do diris:Kiam vi levos la Filon de homo, tiam vi scios, ke mi estas, kaj ke mi ne faras ion per mi mem; sed kiel la Patro instruis min, tion mi parolas.

²⁸Jesus therefore said to them, When ye shall have lifted up the Son of man, then ye shall know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself, but as the Father has taught me I speak these things.

²⁹Kaj Tiu, kiu min sendis, estas kun mi; Li ne lasis min sola; cxar mi cxiam faras tion, kio placxas al Li.

²⁹And he that has sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I do always the things that are pleasing to him.

³⁰Dum li parolis tion, multaj kredis al li.

³⁰As he spoke these things many believed on him.

³¹Jesuo do diris al la Judoj, kiuj kredis al li:Se vi restos en mia vorto, vi estas vere miaj discxiploj;

³¹Jesus therefore said to the Jews who believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye are truly my disciples;

³²kaj vi scios la veron, kaj la vero vin liberigos.

³²and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

³³Ili respondis al li:Ni estas idaro de Abraham, kaj ankoraux al neniu ni estis sklavoj; kial vi diras:Vi estos liberigitaj?

³³They answered him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never been under bondage to any one; how sayest thou, Ye shall become free?

³⁴Jesuo respondis al ili:Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:CXiu, kiu faras pekon, estas sklavo de peko.

³⁴Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Every one that practises sin is the bondman of sin.

³⁵Kaj la sklavo ne cxiam restas en la domo, sed la filo cxiam restas.

³⁵Now the bondman abides not in the house for ever: the son abides for ever.

³⁶Se do la Filo vin liberigos, vi estos efektive liberaj.

³⁶If therefore the Son shall set you free, ye shall be really free.

³⁷Mi scias, ke vi estas idaro de Abraham; sed vi celas mortigi min, cxar mia vorto ne progresas en vi.

³⁷I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word has no entrance in you.

³⁸Mi parolas tion, kion mi vidis cxe mia Patro; kaj vi ankaux faras tion, kion vi vidis cxe via patro.

³⁸I speak what I have seen with my Father, and ye then do what ye have seen with your father.

³⁹Ili respondis kaj diris al li:Nia patro estas Abraham. Jesuo diris al ili:Se vi estus Abrahamidoj, vi farus la farojn de Abraham.

³⁹They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham;

⁴⁰Sed nun vi celas mortigi min, homon, kiu parolis al vi la veron, kiun mi auxdis de Dio; tion Abraham ne faris.

⁴⁰but now ye seek to kill me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.

⁴¹Vi faras la farojn de via patro. Tiam ili diris al li:Ni ne naskigxis per malcxasteco; unu Patron ni havas, Dion.

⁴¹Ye do the works of your father. They said [therefore] to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one father, God.

⁴²Jesuo diris al ili:Se Dio estus via Patro, vi min amus; cxar de Dio mi elvenis, kaj estas veninta; cxar mi ne venis de mi mem, sed Li min sendis.

⁴²Jesus said to them, If God were your father ye would have loved me, for I came forth from God and am come [from him]; for neither am I come of myself, but *he* has sent me.

⁴³Kial vi ne komprenas mian parolon? Tial, ke vi ne povas auxdi mian vorton.

⁴³Why do ye not know my speech? Because ye cannot hear my word.

⁴⁴Vi estas de patro, la diablo, kaj vi volas fari la dezirojn de via patro. Li estis hommortiganto de la komenco, kaj ne staras en la vero, cxar vero ne estas en li. Kiam li parolas mensogon, li parolas sian proprajxon, cxar li estas mensoganto, kaj la patro de gxi.

⁴⁴Ye are of the devil, as [your] father, and ye desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks falsehood, he speaks of what is his own; for he is a liar and its father:

⁴⁵Sed tial, ke mi parolas la veron, vi ne kredas al mi.

⁴⁵and because I speak the truth, ye do not believe me.

⁴⁶Kiu el vi pruvas kontraux mi pekon? Se mi diras la veron, kial vi ne kredas al mi?

⁴⁶Which of you convinces me of sin? If I speak truth, why do ye not believe me?

⁴⁷Kiu estas de Dio, tiu auxskultas la vortojn de Dio; vi ne auxskultas, cxar vi ne estas el Dio.

⁴⁷He that is of God hears the words of God: therefore ye hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.

⁴⁸La Judoj respondis kaj diris al li:CXu ne prave ni diras, ke vi estas Samariano kaj havas demonon?

⁴⁸The Jews answered and said to him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a demon?

⁴⁹Jesuo respondis:Mi ne havas demonon; sed mi honoras mian Patron, kaj vi min malhonoras.

⁴⁹Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me.

⁵⁰Sed mi ne sercxas mian gloron:estas Unu, kiu sercxas kaj jugxas.

⁵⁰But I do not seek my own glory: there is he that seeks and judges.

⁵¹Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Se iu observos mian vorton, tiu la morton neniam vidos.

⁵¹Verily, verily, I say unto you, If any one shall keep my word, he shall never see death.

⁵²La Judoj diris al li:Nun ni scias, ke vi havas demonon. Mortis Abraham, kaj la profetoj; kaj vi diras:Se iu observos mian vorton, tiu la morton neniam gustumos.

⁵²The Jews therefore said to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham has died, and the prophets, and thou sayest, If any one keep my word, he shall never taste death.

⁵³CXu vi estas pli granda ol nia patro Abraham, kiu mortis? kaj la profetoj mortis; kiu vi pretendas esti?

⁵³Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who has died? and the prophets have died: whom makest thou thyself?

⁵⁴Jesuo respondis:Se mi gloros min mem, mia gloro estas nenio; Tiu, kiu min gloras, estas mia Patro, pri kiu vi diras, ke Li estas via Dio;

⁵⁴Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who glorifies me, [of] whom ye say, He is our God.

⁵⁵kaj vi Lin ne konis, sed mi Lin konas; kaj se mi diros, ke mi Lin ne konas, mi estos, kiel vi, mensoganto; sed mi Lin konas, kaj observas Lian vorton.

⁵⁵And ye know him not; but I know him; and if I said, I know him not, I should be like you, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word.

⁵⁶Via patro Abraham gxojegis vidi mian tagon, kaj li vidis kaj estis ravita.

⁵⁶Your father Abraham exulted in that he should see my day, and he saw and rejoiced.

⁵⁷Tiam la Judoj diris al li:Vi ankoraux ne estas kvindekjara, kaj cxu vi vidis Abrahamon?

⁵⁷The Jews therefore said to him, Thou hast not yet fifty years, and hast thou seen Abraham?

⁵⁸Jesuo diris al ili:Vere, vere, mi diras al vi:Antaux ol naskigxis Abraham, mi ekzistas.

⁵⁸Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

⁵⁹Tiam ili prenis sxtonojn, por jxeti sur lin; sed Jesuo sin kasxis, kaj eliris el la templo.

⁵⁹They took up therefore stones that they might cast [them] at him; but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, [going through the midst of them, and thus passed on.]
