¹And it came to pass when Jabin king of Hazor heard [this], that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

²kaj al la regxoj, kiuj logxis norde sur la monto, kaj sur la stepo sude de Kinerot, kaj sur la malaltajxo, kaj en Nafot-Dor apud la maro,

²and to the kings that were northward in the mountains, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and on the upland of Dor on the west,

³al la Kanaanidoj oriente kaj okcidente, kaj al la Amoridoj kaj HXetidoj kaj Perizidoj, kaj Jebusidoj sur la monto, kaj al la HXividoj sub HXermon en la lando Micpa.

³to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite at the foot of Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

⁴Kaj eliris ili kaj ilia tuta militistaro kun ili, granda nombro da homoj, kiel la sablo sur la bordo de la maro, kaj tre multe da cxevaloj kaj cxaroj.

⁴And they went out, they and all their armies with them, a people numerous as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

⁵Kaj kunigxis cxiuj tiuj regxoj, kaj venis kaj starigis siajn tendarojn kune apud la akvo Merom, por batali kontraux Izrael.

⁵And all these kings met together, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁶Kaj la Eternulo diris al Josuo:Ne timu ilin, cxar morgaux en cxi tiu tempo Mi transdonos ilin cxiujn mortigotajn al Izrael; iliajn cxevalojn vi lamigos, kaj iliajn cxarojn vi forbruligos per fajro.

⁶And Jehovah said to Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to-morrow about this time will I give them all up slain before Israel: their horses shalt thou hough, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.

⁷Kaj eliris kontraux ilin Josuo kune kun cxiuj militistoj subite al la akvo Merom, kaj jxetis sin sur ilin.

⁷And Joshua, and all the people of war with him, came upon them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell upon them.

⁸Kaj la Eternulo transdonis ilin en la manojn de la Izraelidoj, kaj cxi tiuj batis ilin, kaj persekutis ilin gxis Granda Cidon kaj gxis Misrefot- Maim, kaj gxis la valo de Micpe oriente, kaj batis ilin tiel, ke ili lasis al ili neniun restanton.

⁸And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and to Misrephoth-maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward, and smote them until none were left remaining to them.

⁹Kaj Josuo agis kun ili tiel, kiel diris al li la Eternulo:iliajn cxevalojn li lamigis, kaj iliajn cxarojn li forbruligis per fajro.

⁹And Joshua did to them as Jehovah had said to him: he houghed their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

¹⁰Kaj en tiu tempo Josuo iris returne, kaj prenis HXacoron, kaj gxian regxon li mortigis per glavo; cxar HXacor antauxe estis la cxefa el cxiuj tiuj regnoj.

¹⁰And Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword; for Hazor was in times past the head of all those kingdoms.

¹¹Kaj ili mortigis per glavo cxion vivantan, kio estis en gxi; ili ekstermis tiel, ke restis neniu animo; kaj HXacoron li forbruligis per fajro.

¹¹And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, destroying them utterly: there was not any left to breathe; and he burned Hazor with fire.

¹²Kaj cxiujn urbojn de tiuj regxoj kaj cxiujn iliajn regxojn Josuo prenis, kaj mortigis ilin per glavo, ekstermis ilin, kiel ordonis Moseo, servanto de la Eternulo.

¹²And all the cities of those kings and all their kings did Joshua take; and he smote them with the edge of the sword, destroying them utterly, as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded.

¹³Sed cxiujn urbojn, kiuj staris sur montetoj, la Izraelidoj ne forbruligis; nur HXacoron solan Josuo forbruligis.

¹³Only, all the cities that stood still upon their hills Israel did not burn, save Hazor alone, [which] Joshua burned.

¹⁴Kaj la tutan akireblajxon el tiuj urboj kaj la brutojn la Izraelidoj rabis al si; nur cxiujn homojn ili mortigis per glavo, gxis ili ekstermis ilin, restigante neniun animon.

¹⁴And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle the children of Israel took as prey to themselves; only, they smote all the men with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them: they left none that breathed.

¹⁵Kiel la Eternulo ordonis al Sia servanto Moseo, tiel Moseo ordonis al Josuo, kaj tiel faris Josuo; li mankigis nenion el cxio, kion la Eternulo ordonis al Moseo.

¹⁵As Jehovah had commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua: he let nothing fail of all that Jehovah had commanded Moses.

¹⁶Tiamaniere Josuo prenis tiun tutan landon, la monton kaj la tutan sudan parton kaj la tutan landon Gosxen kaj la malaltajxon kaj la stepon kaj la monton de Izrael kun gxia bazo;

¹⁶And Joshua took all that land, the mountain and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and its lowland;

¹⁷de la monto HXalak, kiu levigxas en la direkto al Seir, gxis Baal-Gad en la valo de Lebanon, sub la monto HXermon; kaj cxiujn iliajn regxojn li prenis, kaj batis ilin kaj mortigis ilin.

¹⁷from the smooth mountain, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-Gad in the valley of Lebanon, at the foot of mount Hermon; and he took all their kings, and smote them, and put them to death.

¹⁸Dum longa tempo Josuo militis kontraux cxiuj tiuj regxoj.

¹⁸Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

¹⁹Ne ekzistis urbo, kiu faris pacon kun la Izraelidoj, krom la HXividoj, logxantoj en Gibeon; cxiujn ili prenis per milito.

¹⁹There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites who dwelt at Gibeon; they took all in battle.

²⁰CXar de la Eternulo venis la obstinigxo de ilia koro al milito kontraux Izrael, por ekstermi ilin, por ke ne estu indulgo por ili, sed por ekstermi ilin plene, kiel la Eternulo ordonis al Moseo.

²⁰For it was of Jehovah that their heart was hardened, to meet Israel in battle, that they might be utterly destroyed, and that there might be no favour shewn to them, but that they might be destroyed, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

²¹Kaj en tiu tempo venis Josuo, kaj ekstermis la Anakidojn sur la monto, en HXebron, en Debir, en Anab, kaj sur la tuta monto de Jehuda kaj sur la monto de Izrael; kun iliaj urboj Josuo ekstermis ilin.

²¹And Joshua came at that time and cut off the Anakim from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountain of Judah, and from all the mountain of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly, with their cities.

²²Ne restis Anakidoj en la lando de la Izraelidoj; nur en Gaza, en Gat, kaj en Asxdod ili restis.

²²There were none of the Anakim left in the land of the children of Israel; only at Gazah, at Gath, and at Ashdod there remained.

²³Tiamaniere Josuo prenis la tutan landon, konforme al cxio, kion la Eternulo diris al Moseo; kaj Josuo donis gxin kiel heredan posedajxon al Izrael, laux iliaj partoj, laux iliaj triboj. Kaj la lando trankviligxis de milito.

²³And Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Jehovah had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions, by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
