¹Kaj li parolis al ili parabolon pri tio, ke oni devas cxiam pregxi kaj ne lacigxi,

¹And he spoke also a parable to them to the purport that they should always pray and not faint,

²dirante:En unu urbo estis jugxisto, kiu ne timis Dion, nek respektis homon;

²saying, There was a judge in a city, not fearing God and not respecting man:

³kaj estis vidvino en tiu urbo, kaj sxi venadis al li, dirante:Faru por mi justecon kontraux mia kontrauxulo.

³and there was a widow in that city, and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of mine adverse party.

⁴Kaj li ne volis dum kelka tempo, sed poste li diris en si:Kvankam mi ne timas Dion, nek respektas homon,

⁴And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man,

⁵tamen, cxar cxi tiu vidvino min gxenas, mi faros por sxi justecon, por ke sxi ne malfortigu min per sia cxiama venado.

⁵at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me.

⁶Kaj la Sinjoro diris:Auxskultu, kion diras la maljusta jugxisto.

⁶And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says.

⁷Kaj cxu Dio ne faros justecon por Siaj elektitoj, kiuj tage kaj nokte krias al Li, kvankam Li longe pri ili paciencas?

⁷And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?

⁸Mi diras al vi:Rapide Li faros por ili justecon. Tamen kiam venos la Filo de homo, cxu li trovos fidon sur la tero?

⁸I say unto you that he will avenge them speedily. But when the Son of man comes, shall he indeed find faith on the earth?

⁹Kaj li parolis la jenan parabolon, ankaux por iuj, kiuj fidis al si, ke ili estas justuloj, kaj malestimis la ceterajn:

⁹And he spoke also to some, who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and made nothing of all the rest [of men], this parable:

¹⁰Du homoj supreniris en la templon, por pregxi; unu estis Fariseo, kaj la alia estis impostisto.

¹⁰Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax-gatherer.

¹¹La Fariseo, starante, pregxis kun si jene:Ho Dio, mi Vin dankas, ke mi ne estas kiel la ceteraj homoj, rabemaj, maljustaj, adultemaj, nek ecx kiel cxi tiu impostisto.

¹¹The Pharisee, standing, prayed thus to himself: God, I thank thee that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax-gatherer.

¹²Mi fastas dufoje en semajno; mi donas dekonajxojn el cxio, kion mi akiras.

¹²I fast twice in the week, I tithe everything I gain.

¹³Sed la impostisto, starante malproksime, ne volis ecx levi la okulojn al la cxielo, sed batadis sian bruston, dirante:Ho Dio, estu favora al mi pekulo.

¹³And the tax-gatherer, standing afar off, would not lift up even his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, have compassion on me, the sinner.

¹⁴Mi diras al vi:CXi tiu malsupreniris al sia domo, pravigita pli ol tiu; cxar cxiu, kiu sin altigas, estos humiligita; sed kiu sin humiligas, tiu estos altigita.

¹⁴I say unto you, This [man] went down to his house justified rather than that [other]. For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

¹⁵Kaj oni venigis al li ankaux siajn infanetojn, por ke li tusxu ilin; kaj la discxiploj, vidinte, admonis ilin.

¹⁵And they brought to him also infants that he might touch them, but the disciples when they saw [it] rebuked them.

¹⁶Sed Jesuo alvokis ilin al si, dirante:Lasu la infanojn veni al mi, kaj ne malhelpu ilin; cxar el tiaj estas la regno de Dio.

¹⁶But Jesus calling them to [him] said, Suffer little children to come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God.

¹⁷Vere mi diras al vi:Kiu ne akceptos la regnon de Dio kiel infano, tiu neniel eniros en gxin.

¹⁷Verily I say to you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

¹⁸Kaj unu reganto demandis al li, dirante:Bona Majstro, kion mi faru, por heredi eternan vivon?

¹⁸And a certain ruler asked him saying, Good teacher, having done what, shall I inherit eternal life?

¹⁹Kaj Jesuo diris al li:Kial vi nomas min bona? neniu estas bona krom Unu, nome Dio.

¹⁹But Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, God.

²⁰Vi scias la ordonojn:Ne adultu; Ne mortigu; Ne sxtelu; Ne parolu malveran ateston; Respektu vian patron kaj vian patrinon.

²⁰Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

²¹Kaj li diris:CXion tion mi observis detempe de mia juneco.

²¹And he said, All these things have I kept from my youth.

²²Kaj Jesuo, auxdinte, diris al li:Ankoraux unu mankon vi havas:vendu cxion, kion vi posedas, kaj disdonu al malricxuloj, kaj vi havos trezoron en la cxielo; kaj venu, sekvu min.

²²And when Jesus had heard this, he said to him, One thing is lacking to thee yet: Sell all that thou hast and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.

²³Sed auxdinte tion, li farigxis tre malgxoja; cxar li estis tre ricxa.

²³But when he heard this he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.

²⁴Kaj Jesuo, lin rigardante, diris:Kiel malfacile tiuj, kiuj havas ricxon, eniros en la regnon de Dio!

²⁴But when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, he said, How difficultly shall those who have riches enter into the kingdom of God;

²⁵CXar estas pli facile por kamelo iri tra trueton de kudrilo, ol por ricxulo eniri en la regnon de Dio.

²⁵for it is easier for a camel to enter through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁶Kaj tiuj, kiuj tion auxdis, diris:Kiu do povos esti savita?

²⁶And those who heard it said, And who can be saved?

²⁷Sed li diris:Kio estas neebla cxe homoj, tio estas ebla cxe Dio.

²⁷But he said, The things that are impossible with men are possible with God.

²⁸Kaj Petro diris:Jen ni forlasis niajn proprajxojn, kaj sekvis vin.

²⁸And Peter said, Behold, *we* have left all things and have followed thee.

²⁹Kaj li diris al ili:Vere mi diras al vi:Estas neniu, kiu forlasis domon aux edzinon aux fratojn aux gepatrojn aux infanojn pro la regno de Dio,

²⁹And he said to them, Verily I say to you, There is no one who has left home, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

³⁰kaj kiu ne ricevos multoble en cxi tiu tempo, kaj en la venonta mondo vivon eternan.

³⁰who shall not receive manifold more at this time, and in the coming age life eternal.

³¹Kaj preninte al si la dek du, li diris al ili:Jen ni supreniras al Jerusalem; kaj cxio skribita per la profetoj estos plenumita al la Filo de homo.

³¹And he took the twelve to [him] and said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written of the Son of man by the prophets shall be accomplished;

³²CXar li estos transdonita al la nacianoj, kaj mokita kaj perfortita kaj surkracxita;

³²for he shall be delivered up to the nations, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon.

³³kaj ili skurgxos kaj mortigos lin; kaj la trian tagon li relevigxos.

³³And when they have scourged [him] they will kill him; and on the third day he will rise again.

³⁴Kaj ili komprenis nenion el tio, kaj cxi tiu parolo estis kasxita for de ili, kaj ili ne sciis la dirojn.

³⁴And they understood nothing of these things. And this word was hidden from them, and they did not know what was said.

³⁵Kaj kiam li alproksimigxis al Jerihxo, unu blindulo sidis apud la vojo, petante almozojn;

³⁵And it came to pass when he came into the neighbourhood of Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside begging.

³⁶kaj auxdinte homamason preterirantan, li demandis, kio estas tio.

³⁶And when he heard the crowd passing, he inquired what this might be.

³⁷Kaj oni diris al li, ke Jesuo, la Nazaretano, preteriras.

³⁷And they told him that Jesus the Nazaraean was passing by.

³⁸Kaj li kriis, dirante:Jesuo, filo de David, kompatu min.

³⁸And he called out saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

³⁹Kaj la antauxirantoj admonis lin, ke li silentu; sed li des pli forte kriis:Ho filo de David, kompatu min!

³⁹And those [who were] going before rebuked him that he might be silent; but *he* cried out so much the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.

⁴⁰Kaj Jesuo haltis, kaj ordonis alkonduki lin; kaj kiam li alproksimigxis, li lin demandis:

⁴⁰And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be led to him. And when he drew nigh he asked him [saying],

⁴¹Kion vi volas, ke mi faru al vi? Kaj li diris:Sinjoro, ke mi ricevu vidpovon.

⁴¹What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he said, Lord, that I may see.

⁴²Kaj Jesuo diris al li:Ricevu vidpovon; via fido vin savis.

⁴²And Jesus said to him, See: thy faith has healed thee.

⁴³Kaj li tuj ricevis vidpovon, kaj sekvis lin, glorante Dion; kaj la tuta popolo, vidinte tion, donis lauxdon al Dio.

⁴³And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people when they saw [it] gave praise to God.
