¹Tuj matene la cxefpastroj, farinte interkonsilon kun la pliagxuloj kaj skribistoj kaj la tuta sinedrio, ligis Jesuon kaj forkondukis lin kaj transdonis lin al Pilato.

¹And immediately in the morning the chief priests, having taken counsel with the elders and scribes and the whole sanhedrim, bound Jesus and carried [him] away, and delivered [him] up to Pilate.

²Kaj Pilato demandis lin:CXu vi estas la Regxo de la Judoj? Kaj responde li diris al li:Vi diras.

²And Pilate asked him, Art *thou* the King of the Jews? And he answered and said to him, *Thou* sayest.

³Kaj la cxefpastroj multe lin akuzis.

³And the chief priests accused him urgently.

⁴Kaj Pilato denove lin demandis:CXu vi respondas nenion? vidu, pri kiom da aferoj oni vin akuzas.

⁴And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? See of how many things they bear witness against thee.

⁵Sed Jesuo ankoraux nenion respondis, tiel ke Pilato miris.

⁵But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marvelled.

⁶CXe tiu festo li kutimis liberigi al ili unu malliberulon, iun ajn, kiun ili pripetis.

⁶But at [the] feast he released to them one prisoner, whomsoever they begged [of him].

⁷Kaj estis unu, nomata Barabas, katenita kun la ribelintoj, kiuj en la ribelo faris mortigon.

⁷Now there was the [person] named Barabbas bound with those who had made insurrection with [him], [and] that had committed murder in the insurrection.

⁸Kaj suprenveninte, la homamaso komencis peti lin pri tio, kion li kutimis fari por ili.

⁸And the crowd crying out began to beg [that he would do] to them as he had always done.

⁹Kaj Pilato respondis al ili, dirante:CXu vi volas, ke mi liberigu al vi la Regxon de la Judoj?

⁹But Pilate answered them saying, Will ye that I release to you the King of the Jews?

¹⁰CXar li eksciis, ke pro envio la cxefpastroj transdonis lin.

¹⁰for he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up through envy.

¹¹Sed la cxefpastroj instigis la homamason, ke prefere li liberigu al ili Barabason.

¹¹But the chief priests stirred up the crowd that he might rather release Barabbas to them.

¹²Kaj Pilato, denove respondante, diris al ili:Kion do mi faru al tiu, kiun vi nomas Regxo de la Judoj?

¹²And Pilate answering said to them again, What will ye then that I do [to him] whom ye call King of the Jews?

¹³Kaj ili denove ekkriis:Krucumu lin.

¹³And they cried out again, Crucify him.

¹⁴Kaj Pilato diris al ili:Kial? kian malbonon li faris? Sed ili des pli ekkriis:Krucumu lin.

¹⁴And Pilate said to them, What evil then has he done? But they cried out the more urgently, Crucify him.

¹⁵Kaj Pilato, volante kontentigi la homamason, liberigis al ili Barabason, kaj, skurgxinte Jesuon, transdonis lin, por esti krucumita.

¹⁵And Pilate, desirous of contenting the crowd, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.

¹⁶Kaj la soldatoj forkondukis lin en la korton, kiu estas la Pretorio, kaj kunvokis la tutan kohorton.

¹⁶And the soldiers led him away into the court which is [called the] praetorium, and they call together the whole band.

¹⁷Kaj ili vestis lin per purpuro, kaj plektinte dornan kronon, surmetis gxin al li;

¹⁷And they clothe him with purple, and bind round on him a crown of thorns which they had plaited.

¹⁸kaj ili komencis aklami lin:Saluton, Regxo de la Judoj!

¹⁸And they began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

¹⁹Kaj ili frapis lian kapon per kano, kaj kracxis sur lin, kaj ekgenuinte, klinigxis al li.

¹⁹And they struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and, bending the knee, did him homage.

²⁰Kaj mokinte lin, ili demetis de li la purpuran veston, kaj surmetis liajn proprajn vestojn. Kaj ili elkondukis lin, por krucumi lin.

²⁰And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own clothes on him; and they lead him out that they may crucify him.

²¹Kaj ili devigis al servado unu preterpasanton, venantan de la kamparo, Simonon, Kirenanon, patron de Aleksandro kaj Rufo, ke li portu lian krucon.

²¹And they compel to go [with them] a certain passer-by, Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus, that he might carry his cross.

²²Kaj ili kondukis lin al la loko Golgota, tio estas, Loko de Kranio.

²²And they bring him to the place [called] Golgotha, which, being interpreted, is Place of a skull.

²³Kaj ili donis al li vinon kun mirho enmiksita, sed li ne akceptis gxin.

²³And they offered him wine [to drink] medicated with myrrh; but he did not take [it].

²⁴Kaj ili krucumis lin kaj dividis inter si liajn vestojn, jxetante lotojn sur ili, kion cxiu el ili ricevu.

²⁴And having crucified him, they part his clothes amongst [themselves], casting lots on them, what each one should take.

²⁵Kaj estis la tria horo, kaj ili krucumis lin.

²⁵And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

²⁶Kaj la surskribo de lia akuzo estis surskribita:LA REGXO DE LA JUDOJ.

²⁶And the superscription of what he was accused of was written up: The King of the Jews.

²⁷Kaj kun li ili krucumis du rabistojn, unu dekstre kaj unu maldekstre de li.

²⁷And with him they crucify two robbers, one on his right hand, and one on his left.

²⁸Kaj plenumigxis la Skribo, kiu diras:Kaj li estis alkalkulita al krimuloj.

²⁸[And the scripture was fulfilled which says, And he was reckoned with the lawless.]

²⁹Kaj la preterpasantoj insultis lin, balancante la kapon, kaj dirante:Ha, ha! vi, kiu detruas la sanktejon kaj konstruas gxin en la dauxro de tri tagoj,

²⁹And they that passed by reviled him, shaking their heads, and saying, Aha, thou that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days,

³⁰savu vin, deirante de la kruco.

³⁰save thyself, and descend from the cross.

³¹Tiel same ankaux la cxefpastroj, mokante inter si kun la skribistoj, diris:Aliajn li savis; sin mem li ne povas savi.

³¹In like manner the chief priests also, with the scribes, mocking with one another, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

³²La Kristo, la Regxo de Izrael, deiru ja nun de la kruco, por ke ni vidu kaj kredu. Kaj tiuj, kiuj estis krucumitaj kun li, insultis lin.

³²Let the Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and may believe. And they that were crucified with him reproached him.

³³Kaj kiam venis la sesa horo, farigxis mallumo sur la tuta lando gxis la nauxa horo.

³³And when [the] sixth hour was come, there came darkness over the whole land until [the] ninth hour;

³⁴Kaj je la nauxa horo Jesuo kriis per lauxta vocxo:Eloi, Eloi, lama sabahxtani; tio estas:Mia Dio, mia Dio, kial Vi forlasis min?

³⁴and at the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, [saying], Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

³⁵Kaj iuj el la apudstarantoj, auxdinte, diris:Jen li vokas Elijan.

³⁵And some of those who stood by, when they heard [it], said, Behold, he calls for Elias.

³⁶Kaj unu kuris, kaj plenigis spongon per vinagro, kaj metinte gxin sur kanon, donis al li trinki, dirante:Lasu; ni vidu, cxu venos Elija, por depreni lin.

³⁶And one, running and filling a sponge with vinegar, fixed it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone, let us see if Elias comes to take him down.

³⁷Sed Jesuo, eliginte lauxtan krion, ellasis for la spiriton.

³⁷And Jesus, having uttered a loud cry, expired.

³⁸Kaj la kurteno de la sanktejo dissxirigxis en du pecojn de supre gxis malsupre.

³⁸And the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom.

³⁹Kaj kiam la centestro, kiu apudstaris kontraux li, vidis, ke li tiamaniere ellasis for la spiriton, li diris:Vere cxi tiu viro estis Filo de Dio.

³⁹And the centurion who stood by over against him, when he saw that he had expired having thus cried out, said, Truly this man was Son of God.

⁴⁰Estis ankaux virinoj, rigardantaj de malproksime, inter kiuj estis Maria Magdalena, kaj Maria, la patrino de Jakobo la malgranda kaj de Joses, kaj Salome;

⁴⁰And there were women also looking on from afar off, among whom were both Mary of Magdala, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

⁴¹kiuj sekvis lin, kiam li estis en Galileo, kaj servadis al li; kaj multaj aliaj virinoj, kiuj suprenvenis kun li en Jerusalemon.

⁴¹who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him and ministered to him; and many others who came up with him to Jerusalem.

⁴²Kaj kiam jam vesperigxis, pro tio, ke estas la Preparado, tio estas, la tago antaux sabato,

⁴²And when it was already evening, since it was [the] preparation, that is, [the day] before a sabbath,

⁴³venis Jozef el Arimateo, honorinda konsilanto, kiu mem atendadis la regnon de Dio; kaj li kuragxe eniris al Pilato, kaj petis la korpon de Jesuo.

⁴³Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable councillor, who also himself was awaiting the kingdom of God, coming, emboldened himself and went in to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus.

⁴⁴Kaj Pilato miris, cxu li jam mortis; kaj alvokinte la centestron, li demandis lin, cxu li de longe estas mortinta.

⁴⁴And Pilate wondered if he were already dead; and having called to [him] the centurion, he inquired of him if he had long died.

⁴⁵Kaj sciigxinte de la centestro, li donis al Jozef la korpon.

⁴⁵And when he knew from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

⁴⁶Kaj li acxetis tolajxon, kaj deprenis lin kaj envolvis lin en la tolajxo, kaj metis lin en tombon, kiu estis elhakita el sxtonego; kaj li alrulis sxtonon al la enirejo de la tombo.

⁴⁶And having bought fine linen, [and] having taken him down, he swathed him in the fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was cut out of rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.

⁴⁷Kaj Maria Magdalena, kaj Maria, la patrino de Joses, vidis, kien oni metis lin.

⁴⁷And Mary of Magdala and Mary the [mother] of Joses saw where he was put.
