¹Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo en la stepoj de Moab cxe la Jerihxa Jordan, dirante:

¹And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho, saying,

²Ordonu al la Izraelidoj, ke ili donu al la Levidoj el siaj posedajxoj urbojn por logxi; ankaux la kampojn cxirkaux tiuj urboj donu al la Levidoj.

²Command the children of Israel, that of the inheritance of their possession they give unto the Levites cities to dwell in; and a suburb for the cities round about them shall ye give unto the Levites.

³Kaj la urboj estos por ili por logxi, kaj la kampoj estos por iliaj brutoj kaj por ilia havo kaj por cxiuj iliaj bezonoj de la vivo.

³And the cities shall they have to dwell in, and their suburbs shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

⁴Kaj la kampoj de tiuj urboj, kiujn vi donos al la Levidoj, devas etendigxi mil ulnojn ekster la muroj de la urboj cxirkauxe.

⁴And the suburbs of the cities that ye shall give unto the Levites shall be from the walls of the city outward, a thousand cubits round about.

⁵Kaj mezuru ekster la urbo sur la orienta flanko du mil ulnojn kaj sur la suda flanko du mil ulnojn kaj sur la okcidenta flanko du mil ulnojn kaj sur la norda flanko du mil ulnojn, kaj la urbo estos en la mezo; tiaj estu por ili la kampoj de la urboj.

⁵And ye shall measure, without the city, the east side two thousand cubits, and the south side two thousand cubits, and the west side two thousand cubits, and the north side two thousand cubits, and the city shall be in the midst: they shall have this as suburbs of the cities.

⁶Kaj el la urboj, kiujn vi donos al la Levidoj, estos ses urboj de rifugxo, en kiujn vi al mortiginto permesos forkuri; kaj krom tiuj donu kvardek du urbojn.

⁶And [among] the cities that ye shall give unto the Levites [shall be] the six cities of refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither, -- and besides them ye shall give forty-two cities:

⁷La nombro de cxiuj urboj, kiujn vi devas doni al la Levidoj, estas kvardek ok urboj kune kun iliaj kampoj.

⁷all the cities that ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities, they and their suburbs.

⁸La urbojn, kiujn vi donos el la posedajxoj de la Izraelidoj, de la plimultaj prenu pli multe kaj de la malplimultaj prenu malpli multe; cxiu konforme al sia posedajxo, kiun li ricevos, devas doni el siaj urboj al la Levidoj.

⁸And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have much ye shall take much, and from them that have little ye shall take little; each one according to his inheritance which he will inherit shall give of his cities to the Levites.

⁹Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo, dirante:

⁹And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁰Parolu al la Izraelidoj, kaj diru al ili:Kiam vi transiros Jordanon en la landon Kanaanan,

¹⁰Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

¹¹tiam elektu al vi urbojn, kiuj estu cxe vi urboj de rifugxo, kien povas forkuri mortiginto, kiu mortigis homon senintence.

¹¹then ye shall appoint for yourselves cities: cities of refuge shall they be for you; that a manslayer may flee thither, who without intent smiteth a person mortally.

¹²Kaj tiuj urboj estos cxe vi rifugxejo kontraux vengxanto, por ke ne mortu la mortiginto, antaux ol li staros antaux la komunumo por jugxo.

¹²And ye shall have these cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he have stood before the assembly in judgment.

¹³Kaj el la urboj, kiujn vi donos, ses urboj de rifugxo estu cxe vi.

¹³And the cities that ye shall give shall be six cities of refuge for you.

¹⁴Tri urbojn donu transe de Jordan kaj tri urbojn donu en la lando Kanaana; urboj de rifugxo ili estu.

¹⁴Three cities shall ye give on this side of the Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan; they shall be cities of refuge.

¹⁵Por la Izraelidoj kaj por la fremdulo kaj por la paslogxanto inter ili estu tiuj ses urboj por rifugxo, por ke forkuru tien cxiu, kiu mortigis homon senintence.

¹⁵For the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them shall these six cities be a refuge, that one who smiteth a person mortally without intent may flee thither.

¹⁶Sed se per fera objekto li batis lin kaj cxi tiu mortis, tiam li estas mortiginto; la mortiginton oni devas mortigi.

¹⁶And if he have smitten him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.

¹⁷Kaj se li batis lin per mana sxtono, de kiu oni povas morti, kaj cxi tiu mortis, tiam li estas mortiginto; la mortiginton oni devas mortigi.

¹⁷And if he have smitten him with a stone from the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death.

¹⁸Aux se li batis lin per mana objekto ligna, de kiu oni povas morti, kaj cxi tiu mortis, tiam li estas mortiginto; la mortiginton oni devas mortigi.

¹⁸Or if he have smitten him with an instrument of wood, in the hand, wherewith one may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall certainly be put to death;

¹⁹La vengxanto de la sango mem povas mortigi la mortiginton; kiam li renkontos lin, li povas mortigi lin.

¹⁹the avenger of blood, he shall put the murderer to death; when he meeteth him, he shall put him to death.

²⁰Se iu pusxis iun pro malamo aux sin kasxinte jxetis ion sur lin kaj cxi tiu mortis,

²⁰And if he thrust at him out of hatred, or hurl at him intentionally, so that he die,

²¹aux se li malamike per sia mano batis lin kaj cxi tiu mortis, tiam oni devas mortigi la batinton:li estas mortiginto; la vengxanto de la sango povas mortigi la mortiginton, kiam li renkontos lin.

²¹or from enmity smite him with his hand, so that he die, he that smote him shall certainly be put to death; he is a murderer: the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when he meeteth him. --

²²Sed se per hazardo kaj ne pro malamikeco li pusxis lin, aux se li jxetis sur lin ian objekton sen malbonintenco,

²²But if he have thrust at him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him anything unintentionally,

²³aux se sxtonon, de kiu oni povas morti, li jxetis sur lin ne vidante, kaj cxi tiu mortis, sed li ne estis lia malamiko kaj ne deziris al li malbonon:

²³or [have smitten him] with any stone wherewith one may die, without seeing him, and have cast it upon him so that he die, and he was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

²⁴tiam la komunumo devas jugxi inter la batinto kaj la vengxanto de la sango laux cxi tiuj legxoj;

²⁴then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood according to these judgments;

²⁵kaj la komunumo devas savi la mortiginton el la mano de la vengxanto de la sango, kaj la komunumo revenigos lin en lian urbon de rifugxo, kien li forkuris; kaj li devas logxi tie gxis la morto de la granda pastro, kiu estas oleita per sankta oleo.

²⁵and the assembly shall rescue the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the assembly shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he had fled; and he shall abide in it until the death of the high-priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

²⁶Sed se la mortiginto eliris el la limoj de sia urbo de rifugxo, kien li forkuris,

²⁶But if the manslayer shall in any way come outside the limits of the city of his refuge whither he hath fled,

²⁷kaj la vengxanto de la sango trovis lin ekster la limoj de lia urbo de rifugxo kaj la vengxanto de la sango mortigis la mortiginton, tiam li ne estas kulpa pri la sango;

²⁷and the avenger of blood find him outside the limits of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kill the manslayer, there shall be no blood-guiltiness upon him;

²⁸cxar en sia urbo de rifugxo li devas resti gxis la morto de la granda pastro, kaj post la morto de la granda pastro la mortiginto povas reveni sur la teron de sia posedajxo.

²⁸for the manslayer should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high-priest; but after the death of the high-priest he may return into the land of his possession.

²⁹Kaj tio estu por vi legxa regulo en viaj generacioj, en cxiuj viaj lokoj de logxado.

²⁹And this shall be unto you a statute of right throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

³⁰CXiun, kiu mortigis homon, tiun mortiginton oni devas mortigi, se raportis pri li atestantoj; sed unu atestanto ne suficxas, por kondamni homon al morto.

³⁰Whoever shall smite a person mortally, at the mouth of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against a person to cause him to die.

³¹Ne prenu elacxeton pro animo de mortiginto, kiu estas malbonagulo mortiginda; oni devas lin mortigi.

³¹And ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall certainly be put to death.

³²Kaj ne prenu elacxeton pro homo, kiu forkuris en urbon de rifugxo, ke li povu reveni kaj logxi sur sia tero antaux la morto de la pastro.

³²And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that hath fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

³³Kaj ne malhonoru la teron, sur kiu vi estos, cxar sango malhonoras la teron, kaj nur per la sango de tiu, kiu versxis sangon, la tero povas purigxi de la sango, kiu estas versxita sur gxi.

³³And ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are; for blood, it polluteth the land; and there can be no atonement made for the land, for the blood that hath been shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

³⁴Kaj ne malpurigu la landon, en kiu vi logxas kaj en kies mezo Mi restas; cxar Mi, la Eternulo, restas inter la Izraelidoj.

³⁴And ye shall not defile the land that ye inhabit, in the midst whereof I dwell; for I am Jehovah who dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.
