¹La Eternulo montris al mi:jen estas du korboj kun figoj, starigitaj antaux la templo de la Eternulo, post kiam Nebukadnecar, regxo de Babel, forkondukis el Jerusalem Jehxonjan, filon de Jehojakim, regxon de Judujo, kaj la princojn de Judujo kaj la cxarpentistojn kaj seruristojn, kaj venigis ilin en Babelon.

¹Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs set before Yahweh’s temple, after that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

²Unu korbo estis kun figoj tre bonaj, kiel estas la figoj plej frue maturigxintaj; la dua korbo estis kun figoj tre malbonaj, kiujn pro ilia malboneco oni ne povas mangxi.

²One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

³Kaj la Eternulo diris al mi:Kion vi vidas, Jeremia? Kaj mi respondis:Figojn; la bonaj figoj estas tre bonaj, kaj la malbonaj estas tre malbonaj, tiel, ke pro ilia malboneco oni ne povas ilin mangxi.

³Then Yahweh said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.

⁴Tiam aperis al mi la vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

⁴The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

⁵Tiele diras la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael:Simile al cxi tiuj bonaj figoj, Mi distingos por bono la forkondukitajn Judojn, kiujn Mi forsendis de cxi tiu loko en la landon HXaldean;

⁵Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.

⁶kaj Mi direktos sur ilin Miajn okulojn por bono, kaj Mi revenigos ilin en cxi tiun landon, kaj Mi arangxos ilin, ne ruinigos, Mi plantos ilin, ne elsxiros.

⁶For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

⁷Kaj Mi donos al ili koron, ke ili konu Min, ke Mi estas la Eternulo; ili estos Mia popolo, kaj Mi estos ilia Dio; cxar ili konvertigxos al Mi per sia tuta koro.

⁷I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

⁸Sed koncerne la malbonajn figojn, kiujn oni ne povas mangxi pro ilia malboneco, tiele diras la Eternulo:Al ili Mi similigos Cidkijan, regxon de Judujo, kaj liajn princojn, kaj la restintajn Jerusalemanojn, kiuj restis en cxi tiu lando kaj kiuj logxas en la lando Egipta;

⁸As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad, surely thus says Yahweh, So will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt,

⁹kaj Mi donos al ili suferadon kaj mizeron en cxiuj regnoj de la tero, Mi faros ilin objekto de honto, de ekzemplo, de moko, kaj de malbeno sur cxiuj lokoj, kien Mi dispelos ilin;

⁹I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil; to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.

¹⁰kaj Mi sendos sur ilin glavon, malsaton, kaj peston, gxis Mi ekstermos ilin el la lando, kiun Mi donis al ili kaj al iliaj patroj.

¹⁰I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, until they be consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.
