¹CXiu animo submetigxu al la superaj auxtoritatoj, cxar ne ekzistas auxtoritato, krom de Dio; kaj tiuj, kiuj ekzistas, estas starigitaj de Dio.

¹Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.

²Tiu do, kiu kontrauxstaras al auxtoritato, rezistas al la ordono de Dio; kaj tiuj, kiuj rezistas, ricevos jugxon.

²Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.

³CXar regantoj estas terurajxo ne al la bona agado, sed al la malbona. CXu vi volas ne timi auxtoritatulon? faru bonon, kaj vi havos de li lauxdon;

³For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same,

⁴cxar li estas servanto de Dio al vi por bono. Sed timu, se vi faras malbonon; cxar ne vane li portas la glavon, cxar li estas servanto de Dio, vengxanto por kolero kontraux tiu, kiu faras malbonon.

⁴for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.

⁵Sekve estas necese submetigxi, ne nur pro la kolero, sed ankaux pro konscienco.

⁵Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

⁶CXar pro tio vi ankaux pagas tributon, cxar ili estas servantoj de Dio, klopodantaj por cxi tio mem.

⁶For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, attending continually on this very thing.

⁷Redonu sxuldon al cxiuj:tributon, al kiu tributo estas sxuldata; imposton, al kiu imposto; timon, al kiu timo; honoron, al kiu honoro.

⁷Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.

⁸Al neniu sxuldu ion, krom la reciproka amo; cxar amante sian proksimulon, oni plenumis la ceteran legxon.

⁸Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

⁹CXar tio:Ne adultu, Ne mortigu, Ne sxtelu, Ne deziru, kaj cxiu alia ordono, estas resumitaj en la jena parolo:Amu vian proksimulon kiel vin mem.

⁹For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not give false testimony,” “You shall not covet,” TR adds “You shall not give false testimony,” Exodus 20:13-15,17; Deuteronomy 5:17-19,21 and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18

¹⁰Amo ne faras malbonon al proksimulo; amo do estas la plenumado de la legxo.

¹⁰Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

¹¹Kaj tion faru, sciante la gxustan tempon, ke nun estas la horo por levigxo el dormo; cxar nun nia savo estas pli proksima, ol kiam ni ekkredis.

¹¹Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.

¹²La nokto jam finigxas, kaj la tago alproksimigxas; ni demetu do la farojn de mallumo kaj surmetu la armilojn de lumo.

¹²The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the works of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.

¹³Ni iradu dece, kiel en la tago, ne en dibocxado kaj drinkado, nek en volupto kaj senbrideco, nek en malpaco kaj jxaluzo.

¹³Let us walk properly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and lustful acts, and not in strife and jealousy.

¹⁴Sed surmetu la Sinjoron Jesuo Kristo, kaj ne sekvu la intencojn de la karno al voluptoj.

¹⁴But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
