¹Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to [the] sojourners of [the] dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

²Jumala Isa etteteadmise järgi, Vaimu pühitsemise läbi Jeesusele Kristusele kuuletumiseks ja tema verega piserdamiseks: Armu ja rahu saagu teile rohkesti!

²elect according to [the] foreknowledge of God [the] Father, by sanctification of [the] Spirit, unto [the] obedience and sprinkling of [the] blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

³Kiidetud olgu Jumal, meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse Isa, kes oma suurest halastusest on meid uuesti sünnitanud elavaks lootuseks Jeesuse Kristuse ülestõusmise läbi surnuist,

³Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ from among [the] dead,

⁴kadumatu ja rüvetamatu ja närtsimatu pärandi saamiseks, mis on taevas talletatud teile,

⁴to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in [the] heavens for you,

⁵keda usu kaudu Jumala väes hoitakse päästeks, mis on viimsel ajal valmis ilmuma.

⁵who are kept guarded by [the] power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in [the] last time.

⁶Sellest päästest te rõõmustate üliväga, ehkki praegu peate mõnda aega kurvastama mitmesugustes kiusatustes,

⁶Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,

⁷et teie usk läbikatsutuna leitaks palju hinnalisem olevat kullast, mis on kaduv, ent mida siiski tules läbi proovitakse, ja oleks teile kiituseks, kirkuseks ja auks Jeesuse Kristuse ilmumisel,

⁷that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:

⁸keda te armastate, kuigi te ei ole teda näinud, kellesse te praegu teda nägemata ometi usute ja rõõmustate üliväga kirgastatud rõõmuga,

⁸whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom [though] not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with [the] glory,

⁹kui te võtate vastu usu eesmärgi - oma hingede pääste.

⁹receiving the end of your faith, [the] salvation of [your] souls.

¹⁰Seda päästet on hoolega otsinud ja selle üle juurelnud prohvetid, kes on ennustanud seda armu, mis teile on tulnud.

¹⁰Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;

¹¹Nad püüdsid välja uurida, mille kohta ja millisest ajast andis teateid nendes olev Kristuse Vaim, tunnistades ette Kristuse kannatusi ja neile järgnevat kirkust.

¹¹searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these.

¹²Nendele ilmutati, et mitte neile endile, vaid teile, teie teenimiseks oli kõik see, mida nüüd teile on kuulutatud nende kaudu, kes teile taevast läkitatud Pühas Vaimus on toonud rõõmusõnumeid, millesse isegi inglid igatsevad kummardades vaadata.

¹²To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

¹³Seepärast, vöötanud oma mõistuse niuded ja olles täiesti kained, lootke armule, mida teile pakutakse Jeesuse Kristuse ilmumises.

¹³Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, [be] sober [and] hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace [which will be] brought to you at [the] revelation of Jesus Christ;

¹⁴Nii nagu kuulekad lapsed ärge ka teie kohanege oma kunagise teadmatuseaja himudega,

¹⁴as children of obedience, not conformed to [your] former lusts in your ignorance;

¹⁵vaid saage pühaks kogu oma käitumisega, nii nagu on püha see, kes teid on kutsunud;

¹⁵but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all [your] conversation;

¹⁶sest kirjutatud on: 'Olge pühad, sest mina olen püha!'

¹⁶because it is written, Be ye holy, for *I* am holy.

¹⁷Kui te hüüate Isaks teda, kes mõistab erapooletult kohut igaühe tegude järgi, siis elage kartuses oma majalisepõlv, teades, et

¹⁷And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,

¹⁸teid pole lunastatud kaduvate asjadega, hõbeda või kullaga teie tühisest esiisadelt päritud eluviisist,

¹⁸knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible [things, as] silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from [your] fathers,

¹⁹vaid Kristuse kui laitmatu ja puhta Talle kalli verega.

¹⁹but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [the blood] of Christ,

²⁰Tema oli selleks ette määratud küll enne maailma rajamist, aga aegade lõpul on saanud avalikuks teie pärast,

²⁰foreknown indeed before [the] foundation of [the] world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,

²¹kes te tema läbi olete ustavad Jumalale, kes on tema üles äratanud surnuist ja andnud talle kirkuse, nii et teie usk ja lootus oleksid Jumalas.

²¹who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among [the] dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.

²²Et te olete kuulekuses tõele oma hinged puhastanud siiraks vennalikkuseks, siis armastage raugematult üksteist puhtast südamest!

²²Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;

²³Teid pole uuesti sünnitatud kaduvast, vaid kadumatust seemnest, Jumala elava ning jääva sõna kaudu.

²³being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by [the] living and abiding word of God.

²⁴Sest 'kõik inimlik on kui rohi ja kogu ta hiilgus nagu rohu õieke. Rohi kuivab ära ja õieke variseb maha,

²⁴Because all flesh [is] as grass, and all its glory as [the] flower of grass. The grass has withered and [its] flower has fallen;

²⁵aga Issanda sõna jääb igavesti.'

²⁵but the word of [the] Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings [is] preached to you.

²⁶See on aga seesama sõna, mida teile on kuulutatud rõõmusõnumina.
