¹Aga kuule nüüd ometi, Iiob, mu kõnet, ja pane tähele kõiki mu sõnu!

¹Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear mine utterances, and hearken to all my words.

²Vaata, ma avan nüüd oma suu, keel mu suulaes kõneleb.

²Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my palate,

³Mu sõnad tulevad õiglasest südamest ja mu huuled kuulutavad selgesti seda, mis ma tean.

³My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart, and my lips shall utter knowledge purely.

⁴Jumala Vaim on mind loonud ja Kõigevägevama hingeõhk on andnud mulle elu.

⁴The Spirit of ùGod hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

⁵Kui sa suudad, siis vasta mulle, sea ennast valmis, astu ette!

⁵If thou canst, answer me; array [thy words] before me: take thy stand.

⁶Vaata, Jumala ees olen mina samasugune kui sina: savist olen minagi voolitud.

⁶Behold, before ùGod I am as thou; I also am formed out of the clay.

⁷Vaata, hirm minu ees ei saa kohutada sind ja minu surve ei ole sulle raske.

⁷Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, nor my burden be heavy upon thee.

⁸Tõesti, sa oled kõnelnud mulle kõrvu ja ma olen kuulnud su sõnade kõla:

⁸Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of [thy] words: --

⁹'Mina olen puhas, mina pole üle astunud, ma olen laitmatu ja mul ei ole süüd.

⁹I am clean without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me;

¹⁰Vaata, ta leiab mu vastu põhjusi, peab mind oma vaenlaseks.

¹⁰Lo, he findeth occasions of hostility against me, he counteth me for his enemy;

¹¹Ta pistab mu jalad pakku, valvab kõiki mu radu.'

¹¹He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

¹²Vaata, selles ei ole sul õigus, vastan ma sulle, sest Jumal on suurem kui inimene!

¹²Behold, I will answer thee in this, thou art not right; for +God is greater than man.

¹³Mispärast sa riidled temaga, kui ta ei vasta inimesele iga sõna peale?

¹³Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

¹⁴Sest Jumal kõneleb ühel ja teisel viisil, aga seda ei märgata.

¹⁴For ùGod speaketh once, and twice, -- [and man] perceiveth it not --

¹⁵Unenäos, öises nägemuses, kui sügav uni inimest valdab, voodis suikudes -

¹⁵In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

¹⁶seal ta avab inimeste kõrvad ja paneb pitseri nende manitsustele,

¹⁶Then he openeth men's ears, and sealeth their instruction,

¹⁷et inimest pahateost eemal hoida ja mehe kõrkust kinni katta,

¹⁷That he may withdraw man [from his] work, and hide pride from man.

¹⁸et säästa tema hinge hauast ja tema elu oda otsa jooksmast.

¹⁸He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.

¹⁹Ka manitsetakse teda valu läbi voodis ja kestva vaevusega kontides.

¹⁹He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and with constant strife in his bones;

²⁰Siis muutub vastikuks ta elule leib ja hingele maiusroog:

²⁰And his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty food;

²¹ta ihu kõhetub nähtamatuks, ja ta luud, mida näha ei olnud, paljastuvad.

²¹His flesh is consumed away from view, and his bones that were not seen stick out;

²²Nõnda ligineb ta hing hauale ja ta elu sellele, mis toob surma.

²²And his soul draweth near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.

²³Aga kui tema jaoks on ingel, eestkostja, üks tuhandest, kes kuulutab inimesele, mis tema kohus on,

²³If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his duty;

²⁴siis Jumal halastab tema peale ning ütleb: 'Vabasta teda haudaminekust, ma olen lunaraha saanud!'

²⁴Then he will be gracious unto him, and say, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

²⁵Siis muutub ta ihu noorusvärskeks, ta pöördub tagasi oma nooruspäevadesse.

²⁵His flesh shall be fresher than in childhood; he shall return to the days of his youth.

²⁶Ta palvetab Jumala poole ja sellel on temast hea meel; ta saab hõisates näha tema palet ja tema annab inimesele tagasi ta õiguse.

²⁶He shall pray unto +God, and he will receive him with favour; and he shall see his face with shoutings, and he will render unto man his righteousness.

²⁷Ta laulab siis inimeste ees ja ütleb: 'Ma tegin pattu ja väänasin õigust, aga selle eest ei tasutud mulle kätte.

²⁷He will sing before men, and say, I have sinned, and perverted what was right, and it hath not been requited to me;

²⁸Tema lunastas mu hinge haudaminekust ja mu elu saab valgust näha.'

²⁸He hath delivered my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.

²⁹Vaata, seda kõike teeb Jumal inimesele kaks, kolm korda,

²⁹Lo, all these [things] worketh ùGod twice, thrice, with man,

³⁰et tema hinge hauast tagasi tuua ja valgustada teda elu valgusega.

³⁰To bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.

³¹Pane tähele, Iiob, kuule mind, vaiki, et mina saaksin rääkida!

³¹Mark well, Job, hearken unto me; be silent, and I will speak.

³²Kui sul on sõnu, siis vasta mulle, räägi, sest meeleldi annaksin sulle õiguse!

³²If thou hast anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify thee.

³³Aga kui mitte, siis kuule sina mind, vaiki, siis ma õpetan sulle tarkust!'

³³If not, hearken thou unto me; be silent, and I will teach thee wisdom.
