¹Seda ma olen rääkinud teile, et te ei komistaks.

¹These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.

²Nad heidavad teid kogudusest välja. Jah, tuleb tund, mil igaüks, kes teid tapab, arvab end Jumalale teenet osutavat.

²They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God;

³Ja seda nad teevad, sest nad ei ole ära tundnud ei Isa ega mind.

³and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.

⁴Kuid seda olen ma teile rääkinud, et kui see tund tuleb, siis tuleks teile meelde, et mina olen seda teile öelnud. Seda ma ei ole öelnud teile kohe alguses, sest ma olin koos teiega.

⁴But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.

⁵Aga nüüd ma lähen tema juurde, kes minu on saatnud, ja keegi teist ei küsi minult: 'Kuhu sa lähed?'

⁵But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?

⁶Kuid et ma seda teile olen rääkinud, siis on kurbus täitnud teie südame.

⁶But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁷Kuid ma ütlen teile tõtt: teile on parem, et ma lahkun, sest kui ma ei lahkuks, ei tuleks Lohutaja teie juurde, aga kui ma ära lähen, siis ma saadan tema teie juurde.

⁷But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you.

⁸Ja kui ta tuleb, siis ta toob maailmale selguse patu kohta ja õiguse kohta ja kohtu kohta:

⁸And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

⁹of sin, because they do not believe on me;

¹⁰of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;

¹¹of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

¹²Mul on teile veel palju öelda, aga teie ei suuda seda praegu taluda.

¹²I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹³Aga kui tema, Tõe Vaim, tuleb, juhib ta teid kogu tõesse, sest tema ei räägi iseenesest, vaid ta räägib, mida kuuleb, ja ta kuulutab teile tulevasi asju.

¹³But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.

¹⁴Tema kirgastab mind, sest ta võtab minu omast ja kuulutab teile.

¹⁴He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁵Kõik, mis on Isal, on minu päralt, seepärast ma ütlesin, et ta võtab minu omast ja kuulutab teile.

¹⁵All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁶Veel pisut aega, ja te ei näe mind enam, ja taas pisut aega, ja te näete mind jälle.'

¹⁶A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father].

¹⁷Siis mõned ta jüngrid ütlesid üksteisele: 'Mis see on, mida ta meile ütleb: 'Veel pisut aega, ja te ei näe mind enam, ja taas pisut aega, ja te näete mind jälle!' ning 'Ma lähen Isa juurde!'?'

¹⁷[Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father?

¹⁸Nad ütlesid siis: 'Mis see on, mida ta ütleb: 'Veel pisut aega'? Me ei tea, mida ta räägib.'

¹⁸They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks.

¹⁹Jeesus märkas, et nad tahtsid temalt midagi küsida, ja ütles neile: 'Te arutate omavahel seda, et ma ütlesin: 'Veel pisut aega, ja te ei näe mind, ja taas pisut aega, ja te näete mind jälle.'

¹⁹Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me?

²⁰Tõesti, tõesti, ma ütlen teile, teie nutate ja kaeblete, aga maailm on rõõmus. Teid kurvastatakse, kuid teie kurbus muutub rõõmuks.

²⁰Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy.

²¹Kui naine toob last ilmale, siis ta on murelik, sest tema tund on kätte jõudnud. Aga kui ta lapse on sünnitanud, ei tuleta ta enam oma vaeva meelde rõõmu pärast, et inimene on sündinud maailma.

²¹A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.

²²Nüüd on teilgi muretsemist, aga kui ma näen teid jälle, on teie süda rõõmus ja keegi ei võta teie rõõmu teilt ära.

²²And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.

²³Ja sel päeval ei küsi te minult enam midagi. Tõesti, tõesti, ma ütlen teile, mida te iganes palute Isalt, seda ta annab teile minu nimel.

²³And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

²⁴Tänini ei ole te midagi palunud minu nimel. Paluge, ja te saate, et teie rõõm oleks täielik!

²⁴Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁵Seda ma olen rääkinud teile võrdumites. Tuleb tund, mil ma ei räägi teile enam võrdumites, vaid kuulutan teile Isast avalikult.

²⁵These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father.

²⁶Sel päeval te palute minu nimel. Ja ma ei ütle teile, et mina palun Isa teie eest,

²⁶In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you,

²⁷sest Isa ise armastab teid, kuna teie olete armastanud mind ja uskunud, et mina olen tulnud Jumala juurest.

²⁷for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God.

²⁸Ma olen pärit Isa juurest ja tulnud maailma, taas ma jätan maailma ja lähen Isa juurde.'

²⁸I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

²⁹Ta jüngrid ütlesid: 'Vaata, nüüd sa räägid täie selgusega ega räägi võrdumitega.

²⁹His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory.

³⁰Nüüd me teame, et sina tead kõike ega vaja, et keegi sinu käest küsiks. Seetõttu me usume, et sina oled pärit Jumala juurest.'

³⁰Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God.

³¹Jeesus vastas neile: 'Kas te nüüd usute?

³¹Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

³²Ennäe, tund tuleb ja on juba tulnud, et teid hajutatakse igaüks ise kohta ning te jätate mu üksi. Ja ometi ma ei ole üksi, sest Isa on minuga.

³²Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

³³Seda ma olen teile rääkinud, et teil oleks rahu minus. Maailmas ahistatakse teid, aga olge julged: mina olen maailma ära võitnud.'

³³These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.
