¹Ja Jeesus hakkas neile mõistu rääkima: 'Üks inimene istutas viinamäe ja piiras aiaga ja õõnestas kaljusse surutõrre ja ehitas valvetorni. Siis ta andis selle rentnike kätte ning reisis võõrsile.

¹And he began to say to them in parables, A man planted a vineyard, and made a fence round [it] and dug a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country.

²Ja parajal ajal läkitas ta sulase rentnike juurde, et see võtaks rentnike käest vastu andami viinamäe viljast.

²And he sent a bondman to the husbandmen at the season, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

³Rentnikud võtsid aga sulase kinni, peksid teda ja saatsid minema tühjade kätega.

³But they took him, and beat [him], and sent [him] away empty.

⁴Ja taas läkitas ta nende juurde teise sulase. Sellele nad lõid pähe ja teotasid teda.

⁴And again he sent to them another bondman; and [at] him they [threw stones, and] struck [him] on the head, and sent [him] away with insult.

⁵Ja ta läkitas veel teise ja tolle nad tapsid, ja paljusid teisi; mõnda nad peksid, mõne aga tapsid.

⁵And [again] he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, beating some and killing some.

⁶Üks oli tal veel, tema armas poeg. Lõpuks ta läkitas nende juurde poja, mõeldes: 'Ehk nad häbenevad mu poega!?'

⁶Having yet therefore one beloved son, he sent also him to them the last, saying, They will have respect for my son.

⁷Need rentnikud aga rääkisid omavahel: 'Tema ongi see pärija. Läki, tapame ta ära, ja pärand saab meile!'

⁷But those husbandmen said to one another, This is the heir: come, let us kill him and the inheritance will be ours.

⁸Ja nad võtsid ta kinni, tapsid ta ära ja viskasid viinamäelt välja.

⁸And they took him and killed him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard.

⁹Mida teeb viinamäe isand? Ta tuleb ja hukkab need rentnikud ja annab viinamäe teiste kätte.

⁹What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

¹⁰Kas te pole lugenud seda kirjakohta: Kivi, mille ehitajad tunnistasid kõlbmatuks - seesama on saanud nurgakiviks!?

¹⁰Have ye not even read this scripture, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone:

¹¹See tuli Issandalt ja on imeasi meie silmis.'

¹¹this is of [the] Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes?

¹²Ja nad otsisid võimalust teda kinni võtta, ent kartsid rahvahulka. Nad ju mõistsid, et Jeesus oli selle tähendamissõna rääkinud nende kohta. Ja nad läksid ära, jättes ta sinnapaika.

¹²And they sought to lay hold of him, and they feared the crowd; for they knew that he had spoken the parable of them. And they left him and went away.

¹³Ja Jeesuse juurde läkitati mõned variserid ja Heroodese mehed, et teda mõnest sõnast kinni püüda.

¹³And they send to him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they might catch him in speaking.

¹⁴Ja need tulid ning ütlesid talle: 'Õpetaja, me teame, et sa oled tõemeelne ega hooli kellestki, sest sa ei vaata inimese isikule, vaid õpetad Jumala teed tõepäraselt. Kas keisrile peab andma pearaha või ei? Kas anname või ei anna?'

¹⁴And they come and say to him, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and carest not for any one; for thou regardest not men's person, but teachest the way of God with truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?

¹⁵Aga Jeesus, teades nende silmakirjalikkust, ütles neile: 'Miks te mind kiusate? Tooge mulle teenar näha!'

¹⁵Should we give, or should we not give? But he knowing their hypocrisy said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a denarius that I may see [it].

¹⁶Nemad tõidki, ja ta ütles neile: 'Kelle pilt ja kiri sellel on?' Nad ütlesid talle: 'Keisri.'

¹⁶And they brought [it]. And he says to them, Whose [is] this image and superscription? And they said to him, Caesar's.

¹⁷Aga Jeesus ütles neile: 'Keisri oma andke keisrile tagasi ja Jumala oma Jumalale!' Ja nad imetlesid teda.

¹⁷And Jesus answering said to them, Pay what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God. And they wondered at him.

¹⁸Ja Jeesuse juurde astusid saduserid, kes ütlesid, et surnuist ülestõusmist ei ole olemas, ja küsisid temalt:

¹⁸And Sadducees come to him, that say there is no resurrection; and they demanded of him saying,

¹⁹'Õpetaja, Mooses on meile kirjutanud, et kui kellegi vend sureb ja jätab naise ega jäta järele last, et ta vend peab võtma oma surnud venna naise ja soetama järglase vennale.

¹⁹Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if any one's brother die, and leave a wife behind, and leave no children, that his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.

²⁰Oli seitse venda. Ja esimene võttis naise ja surres ei jätnud järglast järele.

²⁰There were seven brethren; and the first took a wife, and dying did not leave seed;

²¹Ja teine võttis tema ja suri järglast jätmata, ja kolmas nõndasamuti.

²¹and the second took her and died, and neither did he leave seed; and the third likewise.

²²Ja need seitse ei jätnud järele järglast. Viimasena kõigist suri ka naine.

²²And the seven [took her and] did not leave seed. Last of all the woman also died.

²³Ülestõusmisel nüüd, kui nad üles tõusevad - kelle naine nende seast ta peab olema? Ta on ju olnud naiseks neile seitsmele.'

²³In the resurrection, when they shall rise again, of which of them shall she be wife, for the seven had her as wife?

²⁴Jeesus lausus neile: 'Kas te mitte ei eksi, sellepärast et te ei tunne pühi kirju ega Jumala väge?

²⁴And Jesus answering said to them, Do not ye therefore err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God?

²⁵Kui surnud üles tõusevad, siis nad ju ei võta naisi ega lähe mehele, vaid on nagu inglid taevas.

²⁵For when they rise from among [the] dead they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels [who are] in the heavens.

²⁶Surnute kohta aga, et nad üles äratatakse - kas te ei ole lugenud Moosese raamatust kibuvitsapõõsa loost, kuidas Jumal ütles Moosesele: 'Mina olen Aabrahami Jumal ja Iisaki Jumal ja Jaakobi Jumal'?

²⁶But concerning the dead that they rise, have ye not read in the book of Moses, in [the section of] the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, *I* [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

²⁷Tema ei ole surnute, vaid elavate Jumal. Te eksite rängalt!'

²⁷He is not the God of [the] dead, but of [the] living. *Ye* therefore greatly err.

²⁸Ja üks juurdeastunud kirjatundjaist, kes oli kuulnud nende vaidlemist ja teadis, et Jeesus oli neile hästi vastanud, küsis temalt: 'Milline on kõige esimene käsk?'

²⁸And one of the scribes who had come up, and had heard them reasoning together, perceiving that he had answered them well, demanded of him, Which is [the] first commandment of all?

²⁹Jeesus vastas: 'Esimene on: Kuule, Iisrael, Issand, meie Jumal, on ainus Issand,

²⁹And Jesus answered him, [The] first commandment of all [is], Hear, Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord;

³⁰ja armasta Issandat, oma Jumalat, kogu oma südamega ja kogu oma hingega ja kogu oma mõistusega ja kogu oma jõuga!

³⁰and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thine understanding, and with all thy strength. This is [the] first commandment.

³¹Teine on see: Armasta oma ligimest nagu iseennast! Mingit muud neist suuremat käsku ei ole.'

³¹And a second like it [is] this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is not another commandment greater than these.

³²Ja kirjatundja ütles talle: 'Hästi, Õpetaja, sa ütlesid tõtt, et tema on Ainus ja ei ole teist peale tema;

³²And the scribe said to him, Right, teacher; thou hast spoken according to [the] truth. For he is one, and there is none other besides him;

³³ja armastada teda kogu südamega ja kogu mõistusega ja kogu jõuga ning armastada ligimest nagu iseennast on palju rohkem kui kõik põletusohvrid ja muud ohvrid.'

³³and to love him with all the heart, and with all the intelligence, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbour as one's self, is more than all the burnt-offerings and sacrifices.

³⁴Ja Jeesus, nähes, et kirjatundja vastas arukalt, ütles talle: 'Sa ei ole kaugel Jumala riigist.' Ja keegi ei julgenud teda enam küsitleda.

³⁴And Jesus, seeing that he had answered intelligently, said to him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared question him any more.

³⁵Ja Jeesus kõneles edasi ning õpetas pühakojas: 'Kuidas kirjatundjad ütlevad, et Messias on Taaveti poeg?

³⁵And Jesus answering said [as he was] teaching in the temple, How do the scribes say that the Christ is son of David?

³⁶Taavet ise ütles Pühas Vaimus: Issand ütles mu Issandale: Istu mu paremale käele, kuni ma panen su vaenlased sinu jalge alla.

³⁶[for] David himself said [speaking] in the Holy Spirit, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand until I put thine enemies [as] footstool of thy feet.

³⁷Taavet ise nimetab teda Issandaks - kuidas siis tema saab olla ta poeg?'

³⁷David himself [therefore] calls him Lord, and whence is he his son? And the mass of the people heard him gladly.

³⁸Ja suur rahvahulk kuulas Jeesust meeleldi.Ja ta ütles oma õpetuses: 'Hoiduge kirjatundjate eest, kes tahavad kõndida pikkades kuubedes ja soovivad teretamisi turgudel

³⁸And he said to them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and salutations in the marketplaces,

³⁹ja esimesi istmeid sünagoogides ja esimesi kohti võõruspidudel,

³⁹and first seats in the synagogues, and first places at suppers;

⁴⁰kes neelavad alla lesknaiste majad ja silmakirjaks venitavad palvetused pikaks. Need saavad seda rängema kohtuotsuse.'

⁴⁰who devour the houses of widows, and as a pretext make long prayers. These shall receive a severer judgment.

⁴¹Ja istudes aardekirstu vastas, vaatas Jeesus, kuidas rahvahulk paneb raha aardekirstu. Ja paljud rikkad panid palju.

⁴¹And Jesus, having sat down opposite the treasury, saw how the crowd was casting money into the treasury; and many rich cast in much.

⁴²Ja üks vaene lesknaine tuli ja pani kaks leptonit, see on ühe veeringu.

⁴²And a poor widow came and cast in two mites, which is a farthing.

⁴³Ja kutsudes oma jüngrid enese juurde, ütles Jeesus neile: 'Tõesti, ma ütlen teile, see vaene lesknaine pani rohkem kui kõik, kes panevad aardekirstu,

⁴³And having called his disciples to [him] he said to them, Verily I say unto you, This poor widow has cast in more than all who have cast into the treasury:

⁴⁴sest nemad panid oma küllusest, tema pani aga kehvusest kõik, mis tal oli, kogu oma elatise.'

⁴⁴for all have cast in of that which they had in abundance, but she of her destitution has cast in all that she had, the whole of her living.
