¹Sa kättemaksu Jumal, Issand! Sa kättemaksu Jumal, hakka kiirgama!

¹O ùGod of vengeances, Jehovah, ùGod of vengeances, shine forth;

²Tõuse, sa ilmamaa kohtumõistja, tasu kätte uhketele!

²Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud.

³Kui kaua õelad, kui kaua, Issand, õelad tohivad ilutseda?

³How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph?

⁴Nad ajavad suust välja, räägivad jultunud sõnu, nad suurustavad, kõik need ülekohtutegijad.

⁴[How long] shall they utter [and] speak insolence -- all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

⁵Nad rõhuvad su rahvast, Issand, ja vaevavad su pärisosa.

⁵They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance;

⁶Lesknaisi ja võõraid nad tapavad ja löövad maha vaeslapsi,

⁶They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless,

⁷ja mõtlevad: 'Issand ei näe, Jaakobi Jumal ei saa aru.'

⁷And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard [it].

⁸Saage aru, te sõgedad rahva seast ja te albid! Millal te saate targaks?

⁸Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

⁹Kes kõrva on istutanud, kas tema ei peaks kuulma? Kes silma on valmistanud, kas tema ei peaks nägema?

⁹He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?

¹⁰Kas rahvaste karistaja ei peaks nuhtlema, tema, kes õpetab inimesele teadmist?

¹⁰He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct -- he that teacheth man knowledge?

¹¹Issand teab inimese mõtteid, et need on tühised.

¹¹Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

¹²Õnnis on mees, keda sina, Issand, karistad ja kellele sina õpetad oma Seadust,

¹²Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jah, and whom thou teachest out of thy law;

¹³et temale anda vaikset elu kurjal ajal, kuni õelale kaevatakse auku.

¹³That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

¹⁴Sest Issand ei tõuka ära oma rahvast ega jäta maha oma pärisosa,

¹⁴For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;

¹⁵vaid kohus taotleb jälle õigust ja selle järgi käivad kõik, kes on õiglased südamelt.

¹⁵For judgment shall return unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

¹⁶Kes seisab minu eest tigedate vastu? Kes astub välja minu eest ülekohtutegijate vastu?

¹⁶Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity?

¹⁷Kui Issand ei oleks olnud mulle abiks, siis oleks mu hing peagi leidnud aseme surmavaikuses.

¹⁷If Jehovah had not been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

¹⁸Kui ma ütlesin: 'Mu jalg vääratab', siis sinu heldus, Issand, toetas mind.

¹⁸When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.

¹⁹Kui mu südames oli palju muremõtteid, siis sinu lohutused trööstisid mu hinge.

¹⁹In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me thy comforts have delighted my soul.

²⁰Kas peaks sinul olema ühist õnnetuse kohtujärjega, kus tehakse kurja seaduse varju all,

²⁰Shall the throne of wickedness be united to thee, which frameth mischief into a law?

²¹kus tungitakse hulgana õige inimese hinge kallale ja mõistetakse hukka vaga veri?

²¹They band together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.

²²Aga Issand on saanud mulle kindlaks varjupaigaks ja mu Jumal mu kaitsekaljuks, kus ma pelgupaika otsin.

²²But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.

²³Tema tasub neile kätte nende nurjatuse ja ta hukkab nad nende kurjuse pärast. Issand, meie Jumal, hukkab nad.

²³And he will bring upon them their iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil: Jehovah our God will cut them off.
