¹ઈસુ જૈતૂનના પહાડ પર ગયો

¹but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

²વહેલી સવારમાં ઈસુ મંદિરમાં પાછો આવ્યો. બધા લોકો ઈસુ પાસે આવ્યા. ઈસુએ ત્યાં બેસીને લોકોને બોધ કર્યો.

²Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down, and taught them.

³શાસ્ત્રીઓ અને ફરોશીઓ એક સ્ત્રીને ત્યાં લાવ્યા. તે સ્ત્રી વ્યભિચારનું પાપ કરતાં પકાડાઈ હતી. આ યહૂદિઓએ તે સ્ત્રીને લોકો સમક્ષ ઊભા રહેવા માટે દબાણ કર્યુ.

³The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the midst,

⁴તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું, “ગુરુંજી, આ સ્ત્રી એક માણસ સાથે વ્યભિચાર કરતાં પકડાઈ છે જે તેનો પતિ નથી.

⁴they told him, “Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.

⁵નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં મૂસાએ આપણને આજ્ઞા કરી છે કે આવું કામ કરનાર પ્રત્યેક સ્ત્રીઓને આપણે પથ્થરોથી મારી નાખવી. અમારે શું કરવું, તે વિષે તું શું કહે છે?

⁵Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such. Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22 What then do you say about her?”

⁶યહૂદિઓ ઈસુનું પરીક્ષણ કરવા આ પ્રશ્નનો ઉપયોગ કરતાં હતા, તેઓ ઈસુને કંઈક ખોટું કહેતા પકડવા ઈચ્છતા હતા. પછી તેઓ તેની વિરુંદ્ધ આરોપ મૂકી શકે. પણ ઈસુએ નીચા વળીને તેની આંગળી વડે જમીન પર લખવાનું શુરું કર્યું.

⁶They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.

⁷યહૂદિ અધિકારીઓએ ઈસુને તેઓના પ્રશ્ન પૂછવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું. તેથી ઈસુ ઊભો થયો અને કહ્યું, “શું અહીં કોઈ એવી વ્યક્તિ છે જેણે કદી પાપ ના કર્યું હોય? જે વ્યક્તિએ પાપ કર્યું ના હોય તે આ સ્ત્રી પર પહેલો પથ્થર મારે.”

⁷But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”

⁸પછી ઈસુ ફરીથી નીચો વળ્યો અને જમીન પર લખ્યું.

⁸Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.

⁹જે લોકોએ ઈસુને સાંભળ્યો તેઓ એક પછી એક વિદાય થયા. વૃદ્ધ માણસો પ્રથમ છોડી ગયા, અને પછી બીજા ગયા. ઈસુને ત્યાં તે સ્ત્રી સાથે એકલા છોડી ગયા. હજુ તે ત્યાં ઊભી રહી છે.

⁹They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.

¹⁰ઈસુ ફરીથી ઊભો થયો ને તેને પૂછયું, “બાઈ, તે બધા લોકો ગયા છે. તેમાંથી કોઈએ તને દોષિત ઠરાવી નથી?”

¹⁰Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”

¹¹તે સ્ત્રીએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “પ્રભુ, તેમાંના કોઈએ મને દોષિત ઠરાવી નથી.” પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “તેથી હું પણ તને દોષિત ઠરાવતો નથી. તું હવે જઈ શકે છે, પણ ફરીથી પાપ કરીશ નહિ.”

¹¹She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”

¹²પાછળથી ઈસુએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “હું જગતનો પ્રકાશ છું. જે વ્યક્તિ મને અનુસરે છે તે કદી અંધકારમાં રહેશે નહિ. તે વ્યક્તિને પ્રકાશ મળશે જે જીવન આપે છે.”

¹²Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Isaiah 60:1 He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

¹³પરંતુ ફરોશીઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું, “જ્યારે તું તારી જાત વિષે કહે છે ત્યારે તું જ ફક્ત એક એકલો એવો છે જે આ વાતો સાચી છે એમ કહે છે. તેથી અમે આ વાતો જે તું કહે છે તે અમે સ્વીકારી શકીએ તેમ નથી.”

¹³The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”

¹⁴ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હા, હું મારી જાત વિષે આ વાતો કહું છું. પરંતુ હું જે વાતો કહું છું, તે લોકો માની શકશે. શા માટે? કારણ કે હું ક્યાંથી આવ્યો તે હું જાણુ છું, અને હું ક્યાં જાઉં છું તે પણ હું જાણું છું, હું તમારા લોકો જેવો નથી. હું ક્યાંથી આવ્યો છું. અને ક્યાં જાઉં છું તે જાણતા નથી.

¹⁴Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.

¹⁵તમે કોઈ માણસનો ન્યાય કરો તે રીતે મારો ન્યાય કરો છો. હું કોઈ માણસનો ન્યાય કરતો નથી.

¹⁵ You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.

¹⁶પણ જો હું ન્યાય કરું તો, મારો ન્યાય સાચો હશે. શા માટે? કારણ કે જ્યારે હું ન્યાય કરું ત્યારે હું એકલો હોતો નથી. મને મોકલનાર પિતા મારી સાથે હોય છે.

¹⁶ Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.

¹⁷તમારું પોતાનું નિયમશાસ્ત્ર કહે છે કે જ્યારે બે સાક્ષીઓ એક જ વાત કહે તો પછી તમારે તેઓ જે કહે તે સ્વીકારવું જોઈએ.

¹⁷ It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid. Deuteronomy 17:6; 19:15

¹⁸હું સાક્ષીઓમાંનો એક છું કે હું મારી જાત વિષે બોલું છું, અને મને જેણે મોકલ્યો છે તે પિતા મારા બીજા સાક્ષી છે.”

¹⁸ I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”

¹⁹લોકોએ પૂછયું, “તારો પિતા ક્યાં છે?” ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તમે મને કે મારા પિતાને જાણતા નથી. પણ જો તમે મને જાણ્યો હોત તો પછી તમે મારા પિતાને પણ જાણતા હોત.”

¹⁹They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”

²⁰જ્યારે ઈસુ મંદિરમાં ઉપદેશ આપતો હતો, ત્યારે તેણે આ બાબતો કહી. જ્યાં બધા લોકો પૈસા આપવા આવતા હતા. તે જગ્યાની નજીક તે હતો. પરંતુ કોઈ વ્યક્તિએ તેને પકડ્યો નહિ. ઈસુ માટેનો યોગ્ય સમય હજુ આવ્યો ન હતો.

²⁰Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

²¹ફરીથી ઈસુએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “હું તમને છોડીશ. તમે મારી શોધ કરશો, પણ તમે તમારા પાપ સાથે મૃત્યુ પામશો. હું જ્યાં જાઉં છું, ત્યાં તમે આવી શકશો નહિ.”

²¹Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

²²તેથી યહૂદિઓએ તેમની જાતે પૂછયુ, “તમે ધારો છો કે ઈસુ આત્મહત્યા કરશે? તો પછી આ બાબત હોવી જોઈએ. કારણ કે તેણે કહ્યું, “હું જ્યાં જાઉં છું ત્યાં તમે આવી શકશો નહિ.”

²²The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, that he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come?’ ”

²³પણ ઈસુએ પેલા યહૂદિઓને કહ્યું, “તમે નીચેની દુનિયાના છો, હું ઉપરની દુનિયાનો છું. તમે આ દુનિયાના છો, હું આ દુનિયાનો નથી.

²³He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.

²⁴તેથી મેં તમને કહ્યું છે કે તમે તમારા પાપોમાં મૃત્યુ પામશો. હા, હું (તે) છું એવો તમે વિશ્વાસ નહિ કરો તો તમે તમારાં પાપોમાં મૃત્યુ પામશો.”

²⁴ I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am or, I AM he, you will die in your sins.”

²⁵યહૂદિઓએ પૂછયું, “તો પછી તું કોણ છે?” ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મેં તમને શરુંઆતથી જે કહ્યું છે તે હું છું.

²⁵They said therefore to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

²⁶મારી પાસે તમારા વિષે કહેવાની ઘણી બાબતો છે. હું તમારો ન્યાય કરી શકું છું તો પણ જેણે મને મોકલ્યો છે અને મેં તેની પાસેથી જે વાતો સાંભળી છે તે જ ફક્ત હું લોકોને કહું છું અને તે સત્ય કહું છું.”

²⁶ I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”

²⁷ઈસુ કોના વિષે વાત કરતો હતો તે લોકો સમજતા ન હતા. ઈસુ તેઓને પિતા (દેવ) વિષે વાત કરતો હતો.

²⁷They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.

²⁸તેથી ઈસુએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “તમે માણસના દીકરાને ઊચો કરશો (મારી નાખશો) પછી તમે હું તે જ છું તે તમે જાણી શકશો અને હું મારી પોતાની જાતે કઈ કરતો નથી પણ જેમ પિતાએ જે મને શીખવ્યું છે, તેમ હું એ વાતો તમને કહું છું.

²⁸Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

²⁹જેણે (દેવે) મને મોકલ્યો છે તે મારી સાથે છે. તેને જે ગમે છે તે હું હમેશા કરું છું. તેથી તેણે મને એકલો છોડ્યો નથી.”

²⁹ He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

³⁰જ્યારે ઈસુ આ વાતો કહેતો હતો ત્યારે, ઘણા લોકોએ તેનામાં વિશ્વાસ મૂક્યો હતો. ઈસુ પાપમાંથી છુટકારા વિષે વાત કરે છે.

³⁰As he spoke these things, many believed in him.

³¹તેથી જે યહૂદિઓએ તેનામાં વિશ્વાસ મૂક્યો હતો તેઓને ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “જો તમે મારા બોધને માનવાનું ચાલુ રાખશો તો પછી તમે મારા સાચા શિષ્યો છો.

³¹Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.

³²પછી જ તમને સત્ય સમજાશે અને સત્ય તમને મુક્ત કરશે.”

³² You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” Psalm 119:45

³³યહૂદિઓએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “અમે ઈબ્રાહિમના લોકો છીએ. અમે કદી ગુલામ રહ્યા નથી. તેથી શા માટે તું કહે છે કે એમ મુક્ત થઈશું?”

³³They answered him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free?’ ”

³⁴ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હું તમને સાચું કહું છું પ્રત્યેક વ્યક્તિ જે પાપ કરે છે તે ગુલામ છે. પાપ તેનો માલિક છે.

³⁴Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.

³⁵ગુલામ કુટુંબ સાથે હંમેશા રહેતો નથી. પરંતુ તે દીકરો હંમેશા કુટુંબનો રહી શકે.

³⁵ A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.

³⁶તેથી જો દીકરો તમને મુક્ત કરે તો પછી તમે ખરેખર મુક્ત થશો.

³⁶ If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

³⁷હું જાણું છું તમે ઈબ્રાહિમના લોકો છો. પરંતુ તમે મને મારી નાખવા ઈચ્છો છો. શા માટે? કારણ કે તમે મારા બોધનો સ્વીકાર કરવા ઈચ્છતા નથી.

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham’s seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.

³⁸મારા પિતાએ જે મને બતાવ્યું છે તે જ કામો હું તમને કહું છું. પરંતુ તમે તમારા પિતાએ તમને જે કહ્યું છે તે કરો છો.”

³⁸ I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”

³⁹યહૂદિઓએ કહ્યું, “અમારો પિતા ઈબ્રાહિમ છે.” ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “જો તમે ખરેખર ઈબ્રાહિમના બાળકો હતા તો પછી તમે જે કામો ઈબ્રાહિમે કર્યા તે જ કરશો.

³⁹They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.

⁴⁰હું એ માણસ છું કે જેણે દેવ પાસેથી સાંભળ્યું તે સત્ય તમને કહ્યું છે. પરંતુ તમે મને મારી નાખવા પ્રયત્ન કરો છો. ઈબ્રાહિમે તેના જેવું કંઈ જ કર્યું નથી.

⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.

⁴¹તેથી તમારા પિતાએ જે કંઈ કર્યુ તે તમે કરો છો.” પણ યહૂદિઓએ કહ્યું, “અમે એના જેવા બાળકો નથી કે જે તેઓએ કદી જાણ્યું ન હોય કે તેમનો પિતા કોણ છે. દેવ અમારો પિતા છે. અમારો તે માત્ર એક જ પિતા છે.”

⁴¹ You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”

⁴²ઈસુએ પેલા યહૂદિઓને કહ્યું, “જો દેવ ખરેખર તમારા પિતા હોત, તો તમે મારા પર પ્રેમ રાખત; હું દેવમાંથી નીકળીને આવ્યો છું. અને હવે હું અહીં છું. હું મારી પોતાની સત્તાથી આવ્યો નથી. દેવે મને મોકલ્યો છે.

⁴²Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.

⁴³હું તમને આ બાબતો જે કહું છું તે તમે સમજી શકશો નહિ. શા માટે? કારણ કે તમે મારા બોધને સ્વીકારી શકતા નથી.

⁴³ Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word.

⁴⁴તમારો પિતા શેતાન છે, અને તમે તેના દીકરા છો. તે જે ઈચ્છે છે તે કરવા તમે ઈચ્છો છો. શેતાન શરુંઆતથી જ ખૂની હતો. શેતાન હંમેશા સત્યથી વિરૂદ્ધ છે અને તેથી તેનામાં સત્ય નથી. જૂઠું બોલવું તે તેનો સ્વભાવ છે. હા, તે જુઠો છે. અને તે જૂઠાનો બાપ છે.

⁴⁴ You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.

⁴⁵હું સત્ય કહું છું, તેથી તમે મારામાં વિશ્વાસ કરતા નથી.

⁴⁵ But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.

⁴⁶તમારામાંથી કોણ સાબિત કરી શકે છે કે હું પાપનો ગુનેગાર છું. જો હું સત્ય કહું છું, તો પછી તમે શા માટે મારું માનતા નથી?

⁴⁶ Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

⁴⁷જે વ્યક્તિ દેવનો છે તે દેવ જે કહે છે તે સ્વીકારે છે. પણ તમે દેવ જે કહે છે તે સ્વીકારતા નથી. કારણ કે તમે દેવના નથી.”

⁴⁷ He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”

⁴⁸યહૂદિઓએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “અમે કહીએ છીએ કે તું સમરૂની છે, અમે કહીએ છીએ કે તારામાં શેતાન પ્રવેશ્યો છે. અને તને ગાંડો બનાવ્યો છે! અમે આ બાબત કહીએ છીએ ત્યારે શું અમે સાચા નથી?”

⁴⁸Then the Jews answered him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”

⁴⁹ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મારામાં કોઈ શેતાન પ્રવેશ્યો નથી. હું મારા પિતાને આદર આપું છું. પણ તમે કોઈ મારો આદર કરતા નથી.

⁴⁹Jesus answered, “I don’t have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

⁵⁰હું મારી જાત માટે આદર મેળવવા પ્રયત્ન કરતો નથી. મને આદર અપાવવાની ઈચ્છા કરનાર ત્યાં એક જ છે. તે ન્યાય કરનાર છે.

⁵⁰ But I don’t seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.

⁵¹હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું. જો કોઈ મારું વચન પાળે છે, તો પછી તે કદી મૃત્યુ પામશે નહિ.”

⁵¹ Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”

⁵²યહૂદિઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું, “હવે અમે જાણીએ છીએ કે તારામાં શેતાન પ્રવેશ્યો છે! ઈબ્રાહિમ અને પ્રબોધકો પણ મૃત્યુ પામ્યા. પણ તું કહે છે કે, ‘જે વ્યક્તિ મારાં વચનોને પાળશે તે કદી મૃત્યુ પામશે નહિ.’

⁵²Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, ‘If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.’

⁵³શું તું ધારે છે કે તું અમારા પિતા ઈબ્રાહિમ કરતાં વધારે મહાન છે? ઈબ્રાહિમ મૃત્યુ પામ્યો અને પ્રબોધકો પણ મૃત્યુ પામ્યા. તું કોણ હોવાનો દાવો કરે છે?”

⁵³Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”

⁵⁴ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “જો હું મારી જાતને માન આપું તો પછી તે આદરની કોઈ કિંમત નથી. જે એક મારો આદર કરે છે તે મારો પિતા છે. અને તમે દાવો કરો છો કે તે તમારો દેવ છે.

⁵⁴Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.

⁵⁵પણ ખરેખર તમે તેને ઓળખતા નથી. હું તેને ઓળખું છું. જો હું કહું કે હું તેને જાણતો નથી, તો પછી હું તમારા જેવો જૂઠો ઠરું. પણ હું તેને ઓળખું છું અને તે જે કહે છે તેનું હું પાલન કરું છું.

⁵⁵ You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.

⁵⁶તમારો પિતા ઈબ્રાહિમ ઘણો ખુશ હતો, કારણ કે જ્યારે હું આવ્યો તે દિવસ તેણે જોયો અને તે સુખી થયો.”

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad.”

⁵⁷યહૂદિઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું, “શું તેં ઈબ્રાહિમને જોયો છે? હજુ તો તું 50 વરસનો પણ થયો નથી.”

⁵⁷The Jews therefore said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”

⁵⁸ઈસુએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “હું તમને સત્ય કહું છું, ઈબ્રાહિમનો જન્મ થયા પહેલાનો હું છું.”

⁵⁸Jesus said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM. or, I am ”

⁵⁹જ્યારે ઈસુએ આ કહ્યું, ત્યારે લોકોએ તેના તરફ ફેંકવા માટે પથ્થર ઉપાડ્યા. પરંતુ ઈસુ છુપાઈને મંદિરમાંથી બહાર નીકળી ગયો.

⁵⁹Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through their midst, and so passed by.
