¹ઘણા કર ઉઘરાવનારાઓ અને પાપી લોકો ઈસુને ધ્યાનથી સાંભળવા આવ્યા.

¹Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.

²પછી ફરોશીઓ તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓએ ફરિયાદ કરવાની શરુંઆત કરી. “જુઓ! આ માણસ (ઈસુ) પાપીઓને આવકારે છે અને તેઓની સાથે ખાય છે!”

²The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”

³પછી ઈસુએ તેઓને આ વાર્તા કહી:

³He told them this parable.

⁴“ધારોકે તમારામાંના કોઈ એક પાસે 100 ઘેટાં છે, પણ તેઓમાનું એક ખોવાઇ જાય છે. પછી તે બીજા 99ઘેટાં એકલાં મૂકીને ખોવાયેલા ઘેટાંને શોધવા નીકળશે. તે માણસ જ્યાં સુધી તે ખોવાયેલું ઘેટું પાછું નહિ મળે ત્યાં સુધી તેની શોધ ચાલુ રાખશે.

⁴ “Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?

⁵અને જ્યારે તે ઘેટાંને શોધી કાઢે છે ત્યારે તે ખૂબ ખુશ થાય છે. તે માણસ તે ઘેટાંને તેના ખભે બેસાડી તેને ઘેર લઈ જાય છે.

⁵ When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁶તે તેના મિત્રો અને પાડોશીઓ પાસે જાય છે અને તેઓને કહે છે; ‘મારી સાથે આનંદ કરો, કારણ કે મને મારું ખોવાયેલું ઘેટું જડ્યું છે.’

⁶ When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

⁷એ જ પ્રમાણે , હું તમને કહું છું, જ્યારે એક પાપી પસ્તાવો કરે છે ત્યારે આકાશમાં વધારે આનંદ થાય છે. જે 99 સારા લોકો જેમને પસ્તાવો કરવાની જરૂર નથી તેઓનાં કરતાં જો એક પાપી પસ્તાવો કરે છે તો તેથી વધારે આનંદ થાય છે.

⁷ I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.

⁸“ધારોકે એક સ્ત્રી પાસે દસ ચાંદીના સિક્કા છે, પણ તે તેઓમાંનો એક ખોવાઇ જાય છે. તે સ્ત્રી દીવો લઈને ઘર સાફ કરશે. જ્યાં સુધી તે સિક્કો નહિ મળે ત્યાં સુધી તે કાળજીપૂર્વક તેની શોધ કરશે.

⁸ Or what woman, if she had ten drachma A drachma coin was worth about 2 days wages for an agricultural laborer. coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?

⁹અને જ્યારે તેને ખોવાયેલો સિક્કો જડે છે, ત્યારે તે તેના મિત્રો અને પડોશીઓને બોલાવશે અને તેઓને કહેશે, ‘મારી સાથે આનંદ કરો કારણ કે મને મારો ખોવાએલો સિક્કો જડી ગયો છે.

⁹ When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost.’

¹⁰તે જ પ્રમાણે, જ્યારે એક પાપી પસ્તાવો કરે છે ત્યારે દેવના દૂતો આનંદ કરે છે.”

¹⁰ Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”

¹¹પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “એક માણસને બે દીકરા હતા.

¹¹He said, “A certain man had two sons.

¹²નાના દીકરાએ તેના પિતાને કહ્યું કે, ‘પિતા, મને સંપતિનો મારો ભાગ આપ!’ તેથી પિતાએ તેના બંને દીકરાઓને મિલકત વહેંચી આપી.

¹² The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of your property.’ He divided his livelihood between them.

¹³“પછી તે નાનો દીકરો તેની પાસે જે બધું હતું તે ભેગું કરીને ચાલ્યો ગયો. તે દૂર દૂર બીજા એક દેશમાં ચાલ્યો ગયો. ત્યાં તે દીકરાએ તેના પૈસા મૂર્ખની જેમ વેડફી નાખ્યા.

¹³ Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.

¹⁴તેણે તેની પાસે જે બધું હતું તે ખર્ચી નાખ્યું. તે પછી તરત જ, જમીન વેરાન થઈ ગઇ અને વરસાદ પડ્યો નહિ. તે દેશમાં કોઈ પણ જગ્યાએ પૂરતું ખાવાનું ન હતું. તે દીકરો ભૂખ્યો હતો અને તેને પૈસાની જરુંર હતી.

¹⁴ When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.

¹⁵તેથી તે કામ શોધવા ગયો અને તે દેશમાં તે લોકોમાંના એક માણસને ત્યાં તેને કામ મળ્યું. તે માણસે તે દીકરાને ખેતરમાં ભૂંડો ચરાવવા મોકલ્યો.

¹⁵ He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.

¹⁶તે છોકરો એટલો બધો ભૂખ્યો હતો કે જે ખોરાક ભૂંડો ખાતા હતા તે ખાવાની તેને ઈચ્છા થઈ. પરંતુ કોઈ પણ માણસે તેને કંઈ પણ આપ્યું નહિ.

¹⁶ He wanted to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.

¹⁷“તે છોકરાએ અનુભવ્યું કે તે ઘણો મૂર્ખ હતો. તેણે વિચાર્યુ, ‘મારા પિતાને ઘરે બધા નોકરો પાસે પુષ્કળ ખાવાનું છે, પણ હું અહીં ભૂખે મરું છું કારણ કે મારી પાસે કશુંય ખાવાનું નથી.

¹⁷ But when he came to himself he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!

¹⁸હું અહીંથી ઊઠીને મારા પિતા પાસે જઇશ. હું તેને કહીશ: પિતા, મેં દેવ સામે અને તારી સામે પાપ કર્યુ છે.

¹⁸ I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.

¹⁹હું તારો દીકરો કહેવડાવવાને યોગ્ય નથી. પરંતુ મને તારા નોકરોમાંનો એકના જેવો ગણ.’

¹⁹ I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’

²⁰પછી તે છોકરો દેશ છોડીને તેના પિતા પાસે ગયો. “જ્યારે તે દીકરો તો ઘણો દૂર હતો એટલામાં, તેના પિતાએ તેને આવતા જોયો. તેના દીકરા માટે પિતા દુ:ખી થયો. તેથી તે તેના તરફ દોડ્યો તે તેને ભેટ્યો અને પુત્રને ચૂમીઓ કરી.

²⁰ “He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²¹પુત્રએ કહ્યું, ‘પિતા, મેં આકાશ સામે અને તારી સામે પાપ કર્યુ છે. હું તારો દીકરો કહેવાવાને જેટલો સારો નથી.’

²¹ The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

²²“પણ પિતાએ નોકરોને કહ્યું, “જલદી કરો! સારામાં સારાં કપડાં લાવો અને તેને પહેરાવો. અને તેની આંગળીએ વીંટી પહેરાઓ અને પગમાં જોડા પહેરાવો.”

²² “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.

²³એક માતેલું વાછરડું લાવો. આપણે તેને કાપીશું અને આપણી પાસે પુષ્કળ ખોરાક થશે. પછી આપણે મિજબાની કરીશું.

²³ Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat, and celebrate;

²⁴મારો દીકરો મરી ગયો હતો, પણ હવે તે ફરીથી જીવતો થયો છે! તે ખોવાઇ ગયો હતો, પણ હમણા તે જડ્યો છે!’ તેથી તેઓએ મોટી મિજબાની કરી.

²⁴ for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’ They began to celebrate.

²⁵“મોટો દીકરો ખેતરમાં હતો. તે ત્યાંથી આવતાં ઘર નજીક આવી પહોંચ્યો. તેણે સંગીત અને નૃત્યનો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો.

²⁵ “Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

²⁶તેથી મોટા દીકરાએ નોકરમાંથી એકને બોલાવીને પૂછયું; ‘આ બધું શું છે?’

²⁶ He called one of the servants to him, and asked what was going on.

²⁷નોકરે કહ્યું; ‘તારો ભાઈ પાછો આવ્યો છે. તારા પિતાએ મોટું વાછરડું જમવા માટે કાપ્યું છે. તારા પિતા ખુશ છે કારણ કે તારો ભાઈ સહીસલામત ઘરે પાછો આવ્યો છે.’

²⁷ He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’

²⁸“મોટો દીકરો ગુસ્સામાં હતો અને મિજબાનીમાં જવા રાજી નહોતો. તેથી તેનો પિતા બહાર આવ્યો અને તેને અંદર આવવા કહ્યું.

²⁸ But he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore his father came out, and begged him.

²⁹પુત્રએ તેના પિતાને કહ્યું; ‘મેં ઘણા વર્ષો સુધી એક ગુલામની જેમ તારી સેવા કરી છે! મેં હંમેશા તારી આજ્ઞાનું પાલન કર્યુ છે. પણ તેં કદાપિ મારા માટે એક વાછરડું પણ કાપ્યું નથી. તેં કદાપિ મને કે મારા મિત્રોને મિજબાની આપી નથી.

²⁹ But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.

³⁰પણ તારા બીજા દીકરાએ કસબણો પાછળ તારા બધા પૈસા વેડફી દીધા અને તે ઘરે આવે છે ત્યારે તું તેને માટે એક રુંષ્ટપુષ્ટ વાછરડું કપાવે છે?’

³⁰ But when this, your son, came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’

³¹“પણ પિતાએ તેને કહ્યું ‘દીકરા, તું હંમેશા મારી સાથે છે, મારી પાસે જે બધું છે તે તારું જ છે.

³¹ “He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.

³²આપણે ખુશ થવું જોઈએ અને મિજબાની કરવી જોઈએ, કારણ કે તારો ભાઈ મરી ગયો હતો પણ હવે તે પાછો જીવતો થયો છે. તે ખોવાઇ ગયો હતો, પણ હવે તે પાછો જડ્યો છે.”‘

³² But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.’”
