¹ઈસુએ તેના શિષ્યોને કહ્યું, “એક ધનવાન માણસ હતો. આ ધનવાન માણસે તેના વ્યાપારની દેખરેખ રાખવા માટે એક કારભારી રાખ્યો હતો. પાછળથી તે ધનવાન માણસને ખાનગીમાં જણાવવામાં આવ્યું હતું કે તેનો કારભારી તેને છેતરે છે.

¹He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.

²તેથી તેણે તેને અંદર બોલાવ્યો. અને તેને કહ્યું; ‘મેં તારા વિષે ખરાબ વાતો સાંભળી છે. તેં મારા પૈસાનું શું કર્યુ છે તેનો હિસાબ મને આપ. હવે તું મારો કારભારી રહી શકીશ નહિ!’

² He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

³“તે કારભારીએ તેની જાતે વિચાર્યુ, ‘હું શું કરું? મારો ધણી મારી પાસેથી કારભાર લઈ લે છે. હું ખોદકામ કરી શકું તેટલો શક્તિશાળી નથી. ભીખ માંગવામાં મને શરમ આવે છે.

³ “The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.

⁴હું જાણું છું કે હું શું કરીશ! હું એવું કંઈ કરીશ કે જેથી હું જ્યારે મારી નોકરી ગુમાવું ત્યારે બીજા લોકો મને તેઓના ઘરે આવકારે.’

⁴ I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’

⁵“તેથી કારભારીએ દરેક દેણદારને જેઓને માથે ધણીનું દેવું હતુ તેઓને બોલાવ્યા. તેણે પહેલા માણસને કહ્યું, ‘તારે મારા માલિકનું કેટલું દેવું છે?’

⁵ Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’

⁶તે માણસે ઉત્તર આપ્યો; ‘મારે તેમનું 8,000 પૌંડ ઓલિવ તેલનું દેવું છે.’ કારભારીએ તેને કહ્યું; ‘આ રહ્યું તારું બીલ, જલ્દી બેસી જા, અને બીલની રકમ ઓછી કર, 4,000 પૌંડ લખ.’

⁶ He said, ‘A hundred batos 100 batos is about 395 litres or 104 U. S. gallons. of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

⁷“પછી કારભારીએ બીજા માણસને કહ્યું, ‘તારે મારા ધણીનું દેવું કેટલું છે?’ તે માણસ બોલ્યો; ‘મારે તેનું 60,000 પૌંડ ઘઉનું દેવું છે.’ પછી કારભારીએ તેને કહ્યું, ‘આ રહ્યું, તારું બીલ તું તેને ઓછું કરી શકે છે. 50,000પૌંડ લખ.

⁷ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors 100 cors = about 3,910 litres or 600 bushels. of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’

⁸“પાછળથી ધણીએ તે અપ્રામાણિક કારભારીને કહ્યું કે તેણે ચતુરાઇથી કામ કર્યુ છે, હા, દુન્યવી માણસો તે સમયના અજવાળાના લોકો કરતાં તેઓના ધંધામાં વધારે ચતુર હોય છે.

⁸ “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

⁹“હું તમને કહું છું, આ દુનિયામાં અહીં તમારી પાસે જે કંઈ છે તેનો ઉપયોગ કરી દેવ સાથે મિત્રો કરી લો, પછી જ્યારે તે થઈ રહે ત્યારે તે ઘરમાં તેને કાયમ આવકાર મળશે.

⁹ I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.

¹⁰જે માણસ નાની વસ્તુઓમાં વિશ્વાસુ માલૂમ પડે છે તે મોટી બાબતોમાં પણ વિશ્વાસુ રહેવાનો, પણ જે વ્યક્તિ નાની વસ્તુઓમાં અપ્રામાણિક છે તે મોટી વસ્તુઓમાં પણ અપ્રામાણિક રહેવાની.

¹⁰ He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

¹¹જો તમે જગતનાં ધન સંબંધી અવિશ્વાસુ હશો તો ખરા ધન (સ્વર્ગીય) માટે તમારો વિશ્વાસ કેવી રીતે રાખી શકાય

¹¹ If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

¹²અને જો તમે બીજાની માલિકીની સંપત્તિ સંબંધી વિશ્વાસુ ન રહો તો તમને તમારુંજે છે તે કેવી રીતે સોંપી શકાય

¹² If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

¹³“કોઈ પણ ચાકર એક સાથે એક જ સમયે બે ધણીઓની સેવા કરી શકે નહિ. તે ચાકર એક ધણીનો તિરસ્કાર કરશે અને બીજા ધણીને પ્રેમ કરશે અથવા તે એક ધણીને વફાદાર રહેશે અને બીજાની પરવા કરશે નહિ. તમે એક સાથે દેવ અને ધન બંનેની સેવા કરી શકો નહિ.”

¹³ No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and mammon “Mammon” refers to riches or a false god of wealth. .”

¹⁴ફરોશીઓ આ બધી વાતો ધ્યાનથી સાંભળતા હતા. ફરોશીઓએ ઈસુની ટીકા કરી કારણ કે તેઓ પૈસાને ચાહતા હતા.

¹⁴The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

¹⁵ઈસુએ ફરોશીઓને કહ્યું, “તમારી જાતને તમે લોકો સામે સારી દેખાડો છો. પણ દેવ જાણે છે કે ખરેખર તમારા હ્રદયમાં શું છે જે કંઈ લોકોની દષ્ટિએ મહત્વનું છે તે દેવની આગળ તો ધિક્કારને પાત્ર છે.

¹⁵He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁶“લોકોએ મૂસાના નિયમો અને પ્રબોધકોના ઉપદેશો પ્રમાણે જીવવું જોઈએ. એવું દેવે ઈચ્છયું. પણ યોહાન બાપ્તિસ્ત આવ્યો તે સમયથી દેવના રાજ્યની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરવામાં આવી રહી છે. ઘણા લોકો દેવના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવા ખૂબ પ્રયત્નો કરી રહ્યાં છે.

¹⁶ The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

¹⁷આકાશ અને પૃથ્વી માટે જતાં રહેવું વધારે સરળ છે પરંતુ શાસ્ત્રની એક પણ માત્રા બદલી શકાશે નહિ”

¹⁷ But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.

¹⁸“જો કોઈ માણસ પોતાની પત્નીને છૂટાછેડા આપીને બીજી કોઈ સ્ત્રીને પરણે છે, તે વ્યભિચારના પાપ માટે દોષિત છે. અને કોઈ માણસ છૂટાછેડા લીધેલી સ્ત્રીને પરણે છે તે પણ વ્યભિચાર માટે દોષિત છે.”

¹⁸ Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

¹⁹ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “એક ધનવાન માણસ હતો જે હંમેશા સૌથી સુંદર વસ્ત્રો પહેરતો. તે એટલો ધનવાન હતો કે રોજ ખૂબ વૈભવવિલાસ અને મિજબાનીઓ રાખવા સમર્થ હતો.

¹⁹ “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.

²⁰ત્યાં લાજરસ નામનો ખૂબ ગરીબ માણસ પણ હતો. લાજરસના આખા શરીર પર ફોલ્લા હતા. લાજરસ વારંવાર તે ધનવાન માણસના દરવાજા આગળ પડ્યો રહેતો.

²⁰ A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,

²¹ધનવાન માણસના મેજ પરથી ખાતાં ખાતાં નીચે પડેલા ટુકડાઓ ખાઇને પોતાની ભૂખ સંતોષતો. કૂતરા પણ આવતા અને તેના ફોલ્લા ચાટતા.

²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

²²“પછીથી લાજરસ મૃત્યુ પામ્યો. દૂતોએ લાજરસને લઈને ઈબ્રાહિમની ગોદમાં મૂક્યો. તે ધનવાન માણસ પણ મૃત્યુ પામ્યો. અને તેને દાટવામાં આવ્યો.

²² It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

²³તેને હાદેસમાં મોકલવામાં આવ્યો અને ત્યાં ઘણી પીડા ભોગવવી પડી. તે ધનવાન માણસે દૂરથી ઈબ્રાહિમને લાજરસ સાથે જોયો.

²³ In Hades or, Hell , he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.

²⁴તેણે બૂમ પાડી, ‘ઈબ્રાહિમ બાપ, મારા પર દયા કર. લાજરસને મોકલ કે તે પોતાની આંગળીનું ટેરવું પાણીમાં બોળીને મારી જીભને ઠંડી કરે; કારણ કે હું આગમાં પીડા ભોગવી રહ્યો છું.

²⁴ He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

²⁵“પણ ઈબ્રાહિમે કહ્યું; દીકરા, યાદ કર જ્યારે તું જીવતો હતો ત્યારે તારી પાસે જીવનમાં બધી જ સારી વસ્તુઓ હતી. પણ લાજરસના જીવનમાં તો બધું જ ખરાબ હતું. હવે લાજરસ અહીં દિલાસો પામે છે, અને તું પીડા ભોગવે છે.

²⁵ “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

²⁶તદુપરાંત અમારી અને તારી વચ્ચે એક મોટી ખાઈ છે. કોઈ માણસ તેને ઓળંગીને તને મદદ કરવા આવી શકશે નહિ. અને કોઈ વ્યક્તિ ત્યાંથી અહી અમારી બાજુ આવી શકશે નહિ.’

²⁶ Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

²⁷“ધનવાન માણસે કહ્યું, ‘પછી કૃપા કરીને પિતા ઈબ્રાહિમ, લાજરસને મારા પિતાને ઘરે પૃથ્વી પર મોકલ.

²⁷ “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house;

²⁸મારે પાંત ભાઈઓ છે. લાજરસ મારા ભાઈઓને ચેતવણી આપી શકે, જેથી તેઓને આ વેદનાની ભૂમિ પર આવવું ના પડે.’

²⁸ for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

²⁹“પણ ઈબ્રાહિમે કહ્યું, ‘તેઓની પાસે મૂસાનો નિયમ અને પ્રબોધકોના લખાણો વાંચવા માટે છે. તેમને તેમાંથી શીખવા દે.’

²⁹ “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

³⁰“પરંતુ ધનવાન માણસે કહ્યું; ના ઈબ્રાહિમ બાપ! જો કોઈ મરણ પામેલામાંથી તેઓની પાસે આવે, તો તેઓ વિશ્વાસ કરશે અને પસ્તાવો કરશે.

³⁰ “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

³¹“પણ ઈબ્રાહિમે તેને કહ્યું; ‘ના! જો તારા ભાઈઓ મૂસા તથા પ્રબોધકોનું ધ્યાનથી સાંભળતા ના હોય તો પછી તેઓ મૂએલામાંથી કોઈ તેઓની પાસે આવે તો પણ તેઓનું સાંભળશે નહિ.”‘

³¹ “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”
