¹હવે બેખમીર રોટલીનું પર્વ જે પાસ્ખા કહેવાય છે તેનો લગભગ સમય હતો.

¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near.

²મુખ્ય યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓ ઈસુને મારી નાખવાનો રસ્તો શોધવાના પ્રયત્નો કરતા હતા. પણ તેઓ લોકોથી ડરતા હતા. (માથ્થી 26:14-16; માર્ક 14:10-11)

²The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.

³ઈસુના બાર પ્રેરિતોમાં એકનું નામ યહૂદા ઈશ્કરિયોત હતું. શેતાન યહૂદામાં પેઠો. અને તેને ખરાબ કૃત્યો કરવા પ્રેર્યો.

³Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

⁴યહૂદા મુખ્ય યાજકો અને કેટલાએક સરદારો જે મંદિરના રક્ષકો હતા તેઓને મળ્યો અને તેઓની સાથે વાતો કરી. યહૂદિએ તેઓને ઈસુને કેવી રીતે સોંપવો તે સંબંધી મસલત કરી.

⁴He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.

⁵યાજકો આ બાબતથી વધારે ખુશ હતા. જો તે ઈસુ તેઓને સોંપે તો તેઓએ યહૂદાને પૈસા આપવાનું વચન આપ્યું.

⁵They were glad, and agreed to give him money.

⁶યહૂદાએ સંમતી આપી. પછી યહૂદા તેઓને ઈસુ સોંપવાના ઉત્તમ યમયની રાહ જોવા લાગ્યો. અને લોકો તેની આજુબાજુ હાજર ના હોય તેવા પ્રસંગે તેને તેઓના હાથમાં સોંપવાની તક જોવા લાગ્યો. (માથ્થી 26:17-25; માર્ક 14:12-21; યોહાન 13:21-30)

⁶He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.

⁷બેખમીર રોટલીનો દિવસ આવ્યો. આ તે દિવસ હતો જ્યારે યહૂદિઓ પાસ્ખાના યજ્ઞમાં ઘેટાઓનું બલિદાન આપતા હતા.

⁷The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.

⁸ઈસુએ પિતર અને યોહાનને કહ્યું કે, “જાઓ, આપણે ખાવા માટે પાસ્ખા ભોજન તૈયાર કરો.”

⁸He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

⁹પિતર અને યોહાને ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “તું આ ભોજનની તૈયારી અમારી પાસે ક્યાં કરાવવા ઈચ્છે છે?” ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું,

⁹They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”

¹⁰“સાંભળો! તમે શહેરમાં અંદર જશો, ત્યાર બાદ તમે એક માણસને પાણીની ગાગર લઈ જતા જોશો. તેની પાછળ જજો. તે એક મકાનમાં જશે. તમે તેની સાથે જાઓ.

¹⁰He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.

¹¹તે ઘરના માલિકને કહો, ‘ઉપદેશક પૂછે છે કે તું કૃપા કરીને અમને તે ખંડ બતાવ જ્યાં હું અને મારા શિષ્યો પાસ્ખા ભોજન લઈશું.’

¹¹ Tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

¹²પછી તે માણસ જે મકાનનો માલિક છે તે તેમને મેડી પર એક મોટો ખંડ બતાવશે. આ ખંડ તમારા માટે તૈયાર હશે ત્યાં પાસ્ખા ભોજન તૈયાર કરો.”

¹² He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”

¹³તેથી પિતર અને યોહાન ગયા. ઈસુએ કહ્યા પ્રમાણે જ બધું બન્યું. તેથી તેઓએ પાસ્ખા ભોજન તૈયાર કર્યુ.

¹³They went, found things as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁴પાસ્ખા ભોજન કરવાનો તેઓનો સમય આવ્યો. ઈસુ અને તેના પ્રેરિતો મેજ પાસે બેઠા હતા.

¹⁴When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve apostles.

¹⁵ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “હું મૃત્યુ પામું તે પહેલા મારી તમારી સાથે પાસ્ખા ખાવાની ઘણી ઈચ્છા હતી.

¹⁵He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,

¹⁶હું તમને કહું છું દેવના રાજ્યમાં પાસ્ખા ભોજનનો સાચો અર્થ અપાય નહિ ત્યાં સુધી હું ફરીથી કદાપિ પાસ્ખા ભોજન ખાવાનો નથી.”

¹⁶ for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”

¹⁷પછી ઈસુએ એક પ્યાલો દ્ધાક્ષારસ લીધો. તેણે તે માટે દેવની સ્તુતિ કરી. પછી તેણે કહ્યું, “આ પ્યાલો લો અને અહી દરેક જણને તે આપો.

¹⁷He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this, and share it among yourselves,

¹⁸હું તમને કહું છું દેવનું રાજ્ય આવે ત્યાં સુધી હું ફરીથી દ્ધાક્ષારસ પીનાર નથી.

¹⁸ for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the Kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁹પછી ઈસુએ કેટલીએક રોટલી લીધી. તેણે રોટલી માટે દેવની સ્તુતિ કરી અને તેના ટૂકડા કર્યાં. તેણે તે ટૂકડા શિષ્યોને આપ્યા. પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, “આ રોટલી મારું શરીર છે કે જે હું તમારા માટે આપું છું. મારી યાદગીરીમાં આ કરો.”

¹⁹He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”

²⁰આજ પ્રમાણે સાંજના ભોજન પછી ઈસુએ એક દ્ધાક્ષારસનો પ્યાલો લીધો અને કહ્યું કે, “આ દ્ધાક્ષારસ દેવનો તેના લોકો માટેનો નવો કરાર છે. આ નવા કરાર મારા લોહીથી શરું થાય છે. જે હું તમારા માટે આપું છું.”

²⁰Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, “તમારામાંનો એક મારી વિરૂદ્ધ થશે. તેનો હાથ મેજ પર મારા હાથની બાજુમાં છે.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

²²માણસનો દીકરો દેવની યોજના પ્રમાણે કરશે. જે માણસના દીકરાને મારી નાંખવા માટે આપશે, તે બાબત તે માણસને માટે ખરાબ છે. તેને અફસોસ છે!”

²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”

²³પછી શિષ્યોએ એકબીજાને પૂછયું કે, “આપણામાંનો કોણ ઈસુ માટે આવું કરનાર હશે?”

²³They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

²⁴પાછળથી પ્રેરિતો વિષે અંદરો અંદર દલીલો કરવા લાગ્યા કે તેઓના બધામાં મુખ્ય કોણ.

²⁴There arose also a contention among them, which of them was considered to be greatest.

²⁵પછી ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “દુનિયાના રાજાઓ તેમની પ્રજા પર શાસન કરે છે. જે માણસોનો બીજા લોકો પર અધિકાર હોય છે તેઓ તે લોકોના મહાન પરાપકારી હોવાનું ‘લોકો પાસે કહેવડાવે છે.’

²⁵He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’

²⁶પણ તમારે તેમના જેવું થવું ના જોઈએ. સૌથી મુખ્ય વ્યક્તિએ સૌથી નાની વ્યક્તિ જેવા થવું જોઈએ, આગેવાનોએ સેવકો જેવા થવું જોઈએ.

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.

²⁷કોણ વધારે અગત્યનું છે, જે વ્યક્તિ મેજ પાસે બેસે છે તે કે જે વ્યક્તિ તેની સેવા કરે છે તે? ખરેખર જે વ્યક્તિ મેજ પાસે બેસે છે તે વધારે અગત્યની છે, પણ હું તો તમારી વચ્ચે એક સેવક જેવો છું!

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

²⁸“તમે લોકો મારા પરીક્ષણ સમયમાં મારી સોથે રહ્યા છો.

²⁸ But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.

²⁹મારા બાપે મને એક રાજ્ય આપ્યું છે. હું પણ તમને મારી સાથે શાસનનો અધિકાર આપું છું.

²⁹ I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,

³⁰મારા રાજ્યમાં તમે મારી સાથે ખાશો અને પીશો. તમે ઈસ્ત્રાએલના બાર કુળોનો ન્યાય કરવા રાજ્યાસનો પર બિરાજશો.

³⁰ that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

³¹“ઓ સિમોન, સિમોન જો શેતાને એક ખેડૂત જેમ ઘઉં ચાળે છે તેમ તને કબજે લેવા માગ્યો.

³¹The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

³²મેં પ્રાર્થના કરી છે કે તું તારો વિશ્વાસ ગુમાવે નહિ! જ્યારે તમે મારી પાસે પાછા આવો ત્યારેં તમારા ભાઈઓને વધારે મજબૂત થવામાં મદદ કરજો.”

³² but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers The word for “brothers” here may be also correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” .”

³³પણ પિતરે ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “પ્રભુ, હું તારી સાથે જેલમાં આવવા તૈયાર છું, હું તારી સાથે મરવા માટે પણ તૈયાર છું!”

³³He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

³⁴પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, “પિતર, હું તને કહું છું કે આજે મરઘો બોલે તે પહેલા તું મને ઓળખતો નથી, એમ (કહીને) તું ત્રણ વાર મારો નકાર કરશે!” મુશ્કેલીઓ માટે તૈયાર થાઓ

³⁴He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”

³⁵પછી ઈસુએ પ્રેરિતોને કહ્યું કે: “મેં તમને લોકોને ઉપદેશ આપવા મોકલ્યા. મેં પૈસા વગર, થેલી કે જોડા વગર મોકલ્યા, તમારે કશાની જરુંર પડી?” પ્રેરિતોએ કહ્યું, “ના.”

³⁵He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

³⁶તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “પણ હવે જો તમારી પાસે થેલી અને પૈસા હોય તો તમારી પાસે રાખો. જો તમારી પાસે તલવાર ના હોય તો તમારા કપડાં વેચીને એક ખરીદી રાખો.

³⁶Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

³⁷પવિત્ર લેખ કહે છે કે: ‘લોકોએ કહ્યું કે તે એક ગુનેગાર હતો.’ યશાયા 53:12 એ જે લખેલું છે તે મારામાં હજી પૂરું થવું જોઈએ, અને તે હવે બની રહ્યું છે.”

³⁷ For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ Isaiah 53:12 For that which concerns me has an end.”

³⁸સવારે બધા લોકો વહેલા ઊઠતા અને ઈસુને ધ્યાનથી સાંભળવા મંદિરમાં જતા. (માથ્થી 26:1-5; માર્ક 14:1-2; યોહાન 11:45-53)

³⁸They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”

³⁹He came out, and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.

⁴⁰When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”

⁴¹પછી ઈસુ તેઓનાથી લગભગ 50 ડગલા દૂર ગયો અને ઘૂંટણે પડ્યો અને પ્રાર્થના કરી.

⁴¹He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,

⁴²“હે, બાપ જો તારી ઈચ્છા હોય તો, આ યાતનાનો પ્યાલો મારાથી દૂર કર: તોપણ તારી ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે નહિં પણ તારી ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે થાઓ.”

⁴²saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

⁴³પછી એક દૂત દેખાયો, તે દૂત આકાશમાંથી ઈસુની મદદ માટે આવ્યો હતો.

⁴³An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.

⁴⁴ઈસુ ખૂબ પીડાતો હતો. પ્રાર્થનામાં તેણે ખૂબ આગ્રહ કર્યો, તેના મોઢા પરથી પડતો પરસેવો લોહીનાં ટીપાં જેવો ધરતી પર પડતો હતો.

⁴⁴Being in agony he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.

⁴⁵જ્યારે ઈસુએ પ્રાર્થના પૂરી કરી તેના શિષ્યો પાસે ગયો ત્યારે તેઓ ઘસઘસાટ ઊંઘતા હતા. (તેઓ તેમના દુ:ખોથી વધારે થાક્યા હતા)

⁴⁵When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

⁴⁶ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “તમે શા માટે ઊંઘો છો? ઊભા થાઓ અને પરીક્ષણો સામે મજબૂત બનવા પ્રાર્થના કરો.”

⁴⁶and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

⁴⁷જ્યારે ઈસુ બોલતો હતો ત્યારે એક લોકોનું ટોળું આવ્યું. બાર પ્રેરિતોમાંનો એક સમૂહને દોરતો હતો. તે યહૂદા હતો. યહૂદા ઈસુની નજીક આવ્યો જેથી તે ઈસુને ચૂંબન કરી શકે.

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁸પણ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, “યહૂદા, શું તું ચુંબનનો ઉપયોગ કરીને માણસના દીકરાને દુશ્મનોને સોંપવા ઈચ્છે છે?”

⁴⁸But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

⁴⁹ઈસુના શિષ્યો પણ ત્યાં ઊભા હતા. જે થતું હતું તે તેઓએ જોયું. શિષ્યોએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, “પ્રભુ, અમારે તલવારોનો ઉપયોગ કરવો જોઈએ?”

⁴⁹When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”

⁵⁰એટલામાં તો શિષ્યોમાંના એકે તેનો ઉપયોગ કર્યોં. તેણે મુખ્ય યાજકના ચાકરનો જમણો કાન કાપી નાખ્યો.

⁵⁰A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

⁵¹ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, “અહીં જ બંધ કર! પછી ઈસુએ ચાકરના કાનને સ્પર્શ કરીને તેને સાજો કર્યો.

⁵¹But Jesus answered, “Let me at least do this” —and he touched his ear, and healed him.

⁵²ઈસુને પકડવા જે સમૂહ આવ્યો હતો તેઓ મુખ્ય યાજકો, વડીલો અને યહૂદિ સરદારો હતા. ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “તમે તલવારો અને લાકડીઓ સાથે અહીં બહાર શા માટે આવ્યા છો? શું તમે વિચારો છો કે હું એક ગુનેગાર છું?

⁵²Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

⁵³હું દરરોજ મંદિરમાં તમારી સાથે હતો. ત્યાં મને પકડવાનો પ્રયત્ન તમે શા માટે ન કર્યો? પણ આ તમારો સમય છે, એવો સમય જ્યારે અંધકારનું સાર્મથ્ય હોય છે.”

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”

⁵⁴તેઓ ઈસુને પકડીને દૂર લઈ ગયા. તેઓ ઈસુને મુખ્ય યાજકના ઘરમાં લાવ્યા. પિતર તેની પાછળ ગયો. પણ તે ઈસુની નજીક આવી શક્યો નહિ.

⁵⁴They seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.

⁵⁵સૈનિકો ચોકની વચમાં અજ્ઞિ સળગાવીને સાથે બેઠા હતા. પિતર તેઓની સાથે બેઠો.

⁵⁵When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁶એક સેવિકાએ પિતરને ત્યાં બેઠેલો જોયો. અજ્ઞિના પ્રકાશને કારણે તે જોઈ શકી. તે છોકરીએ નજીકથી પિતરના ચેહરાને જોયો, પછી તેણે કહ્યું કે, “આ માણસ પણ તેની (ઈસુની) સાથે હતો!”

⁵⁶A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”

⁵⁷પણ પિતરે કહ્યું કે આ સાચું નથી. તેણે કહ્યું, “બાઇ, હું તેને જાણતો નથી.”

⁵⁷He denied Jesus, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”

⁵⁸થોડા સમય પછી, બીજી એક વ્યક્તિએ પિતરને જોયો અને કહ્યું કે, “તું પણ તેમાંનો એક છે.” પણ પિતરે કહ્યું, “ભાઈ, હું તેના શિષ્યોમાંનો એક નથી!”

⁵⁸After a little while someone else saw him, and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”

⁵⁹લગભગ એક કલાક પછી બીજા એક માણસે કહ્યું કે, “તે સાચું છે! આ માણસ તેની સાથે હતો. તે ગાલીલનો છે!” તે માણસે કહ્યું કે આ બાબતની તેને ખાતરી હતી.

⁵⁹After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”

⁶⁰પણ પિતરે કહ્યું કે, “ભાઈ, તું શું વાત કરે છે, તે હું જાણતો નથી!” જ્યારે તે બોલતો હતો કે તરત જ મરઘો બોલ્યો.

⁶⁰But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

⁶¹પછી પ્રભુ ફર્યો અને પિતરની આંખોમાં જોયું અને પ્રભુએ જે તેને કહ્યું હતું તે પિતરને યાદ આવ્યું. “સવારે મરઘો બોલ્યા અગાઉ, તું ત્રણ વાર કહીશ કે તું મને ઓળખતો નથી.”

⁶¹The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”

⁶²પછી પિતર બહાર ગયો અને ખૂબ રડ્યો.

⁶²He went out, and wept bitterly.

⁶³The men who held Jesus mocked him and beat him.

⁶⁴Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”

⁶⁵તે માણસોએ ઈસુની નિંદા કરીને તેની વિરૂદ્ધ બીજું ઘણું કહ્યું.

⁶⁵They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.

⁶⁶બીજા સવારે, લોકોના વડીલોની સભા, મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓ સાથે ભેગી થઈ. તેઓએ ઈસુને તેઓના ઊંચામાં ઊચી ન્યાયસભામાં લઈ ગયા.

⁶⁶As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people was gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,

⁶⁷તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, “જો તું ખ્રિસ્ત હોય, તો અમને કહે!” ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, જો હું તમને કહું કે હું ખ્રિસ્ત છું તો તમે મારું માનવાના નથી,

⁶⁷“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,

⁶⁸અને જો હું તમને પૂછીશ તો તમે ઉત્તર આપવાના નથી.

⁶⁸ and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.

⁶⁹પણ હવે પછી માણસનો દીકરો દેવના રાજયાસનની જમણી બાજુએ બેસશે.”

⁶⁹ From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

⁷⁰તેઓ બધાએ કહ્યું કે, “તો શું તું દેવનો દીકરો છે?” ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “હા, તમે સાચા છો જ્યારે તમે જ કહો છો કે હું તે છું.”

⁷⁰They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”

⁷¹તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, “હવે આપણને બીજા સાક્ષીઓની શી જરુંર છે? આપણે આપણી જાતે તેને આ કહેતો સાંભળ્યો છે!”

⁷¹They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
