¹“આકાશનું રાજ્ય એક જમીનદાર જેવું છે. આ માણસ તેના ખેતરમાં દ્રાક્ષ ઉગાડે છે. એક મળસકે તે માણસ પોતાના ખેતરમાં કામ કરવા માટે મજૂરો લેવા ગયો.

¹ “For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who was the master of a household, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

²અને તેણે તેઓની સાથે રોજનો એક દીનાર નક્કી કરીને ખેતરમાં મજૂરોને મોકલ્યા.”

² When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius A denarius is a silver Roman coin worth 1/25th of a Roman aureus. This was a common wage for a day of farm labor. a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

³“નવ વાગ્યાની આસપાસ તે જમીનદાર બજારમાં ગયો ત્યારે કેટલાક માણસો કશુંય કામ કર્યા વિના ત્યાં ઊભા હતા.

³ He went out about the third hour, Time was measured from sunrise to sunset, so the third hour would be about 9:00 AM. and saw others standing idle in the marketplace.

⁴તેથી તે માણસે કહ્યું, તમે મારા ખેતરમાં જઈને કામ કરશો તો હું તમને યોગ્ય વળતર આપીશ.”

⁴ To them he said, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went their way.

⁵તેથી લોકો ખેતરમાં કામ કરવા ગયા. “ફરી બાર વાગે અને બીજી વાર ત્રણ વાગે બજારમાં ગયો ત્યારે પણ લોકોને ખેતરમાં કામ કરવા માટે લઈ આવ્યો.”

⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, noon and 3:00 P. M. and did likewise.

⁶પછી સાંજે પાંચે વાગે તે બજારમાં ફરીથી ગયો ત્યારે પણ કેટલાક માણસો ત્યાં ઊભા હતા, તેઓને જમીનદારે પૂછયું, ‘તમે આખો દિવસ કોઈપણ કામ વિના અહીં કેમ ઊભા રહ્યા છો?’

⁶ About the eleventh hour 5:00 PM he went out, and found others standing idle. He said to them, ‘Why do you stand here all day idle?’

⁷“તે લોકોએ કહ્યું, ‘અમને કોઈએ કામ આપ્યું નથી.’ “તે માણસે તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘તમે મારા ખેતરમાં જાવ અને કામે લાગો,’

⁷ “They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ “He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and you will receive whatever is right.’

⁸“સાંજ પડી એટલે, દ્રાક્ષની વાડીના ધણીએ તેના મુખ્ય કારભારીને બોલાવીને કહ્યું કે, ‘મજૂરોને બોલાવીને તેમની મજૂરી ચૂકવી દો. પહેલાથી છેલ્લા જે મજૂરો આવ્યા તેમને મજૂરી આપવાનું શરૂ કરો અને પહેલા મજૂરીએ આવ્યા હતાં તેમને આપતા સુધી ચાલુ રાખો.’

⁸ When evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.’

⁹“જે મજૂરો પાંચ વાગે આવ્યા હતા તેમાંના દરેકને એક દીનારનો સિક્કો મળ્યો.

⁹ “When those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius.

¹⁰પછી જે સૌથી પહેલા સવારમા કામ પર આવ્યા હતા તે તેમનું મહેનતાણું લેવા આવ્યા. તેઓએ વિચાર્યુ તેઓ વધારે મહેનાતાણું મેળવશે પણ તે દરેકને એક જ દીનારનો સિક્કો મળ્યો.

¹⁰ When the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise each received a denarius.

¹¹જ્યારે તેમને એક દીનારનો સિક્કો મળ્યો ત્યાર પછી દ્રાક્ષની વાડીના માલિકને તેમણે ફરિયાદ કરી.

¹¹ When they received it, they murmured against the master of the household,

¹²જે લોકો છેલ્લાં આવ્યા હતા અને એક કલાક જ કામ કર્યુ તેમને તેં અમારા જેટલી જ મજૂરી આપી. જ્યારે અમે તો આખો દિવસ સૂર્યની ગરમીમાં કામ કર્યુ છે.’

¹² saying, ‘These last have spent one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat!’

¹³“પણ ખેતરના માલિકે તેઓમાંના એક જણાને કહ્યું, ‘મિત્ર, મેં તારી સાથે કોઈ જ અન્યાય કર્યો નથી. શું તમે કબૂલ થયા ન હતા કે હું તમને એક દીનાર આપીશ?

¹³ “But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me for a denarius?

¹⁴તેથી આ તારી મજૂરી લે અને ચાલતો થા, માટે જે છેલ્લો માણસ મજૂરી કરવા આવ્યો છે તેને આટલી જ મજૂરી આપવાની મારી ઈચ્છા છે.

¹⁴ Take that which is yours, and go your way. It is my desire to give to this last just as much as to you.

¹⁵મારે મારા પૈસાનું જે કરવું હોય તે કરું. તમને અદેખાઈ આવે છે કારણ કે એ લોકો સાથે હું સારો છું.’

¹⁵ Isn’t it lawful for me to do what I want to with what I own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?’

¹⁶“એ પ્રમાણે જેઓ છેલ્લા છે તેને હવે ભવિષ્યમાં પ્રથમ સ્થાન મળશે. અને જેનું પ્રથમ સ્થાન હશે તેને ભવિષ્યમાં છેલ્લું સ્થાન મળશે.”

¹⁶ So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”

¹⁷ઈસુ જ્યારે પોતાના બાર શિષ્યો સાથે યરૂશાલેમ જઈ રહ્યો હતો. ત્યારે તેણે એ બધાને એકાંતમાં એક બાજુએ બોલાવીને કહ્યું,

¹⁷As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them,

¹⁸“જુઓ, આપણે યરૂશાલેમ જઈ રહ્યા છીએ. માણસનો દીકરો મુખ્ય યાજક અને શાસ્ત્રીઓને સોંપવામાં આવશે, અને તેને મોતની સજા ફટકારવામાં આવશે.

¹⁸ “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death,

¹⁹પછી તે લોકો માણસના દીકરાને બીનયહૂદિઓને સોંપી દેશે જેઓ તેની ક્રૂર મશ્કરી કરશે. તેના પર કોરડા વીંઝશે અને તેને વધસ્તંભ પર જડાવી દેશે, પરંતુ ત્રીજા દિવસે તે સજીવન થશે.”

¹⁹ and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.”

²⁰પછી ઝબદીની પત્ની પોતાના દીકરાઓને સાથે રાખીને ઈસુની પાસે આવી. તેણે પગે પડીને ઈસુની પાસે માંગણી કરી.

²⁰Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, kneeling and asking a certain thing of him.

²¹ઈસુએ પૂછયું, “તારે શું જોઈએ છે?” તેણે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “મને વચન આપ કે તારા રાજ્યમાં મારા બે દીકરાઓમાંથી એક દીકરો તારી જમણી બાજુ અને બીજો દીકરો તારી ડાબી બાજુએ બેસે.”

²¹He said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Command that these, my two sons, may sit, one on your right hand, and one on your left hand, in your Kingdom.”

²²ઈસુએ બે દીકરાઓને કહ્યું, “તમે શું માંગી રહ્યા છો તે તમે જાણતા નથી. જે પ્યાલો મારે પીવાનો છે તે તમારાથી પીવાશે?” તેઓએ કહ્યું, “હા, અમે પી શકીશું!”

²²But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” They said to him, “We are able.”

²³ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “અલબત્ત હું જે કંઈ પીઉ તે તમે પી શકશો તો ખરા. પણ મારી જમણી કે ડાબી બાજુ કોને સ્થાન આપવું, તે મારા હાથની વાત નથી. એ સ્થાનો મારા પિતાએ નક્કી કરેલ વ્યક્તિઓ માટે છે.”

²³He said to them, “You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with, but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”

²⁴જ્યારે આ માંગણી વિષે બાકીના દશ શિષ્યોએ સાંભળ્યું ત્યારે તેઓ આ બે ભાઈઓ પર બહું ગુસ્સે થયા.

²⁴When the ten heard it, they were indignant with the two brothers.

²⁵પછી ઈસુએ શિષ્યોને પોતાની પાસે બોલાવીને કહ્યું, “તમે જાણો છો કે યહૂદી રાજ્ય કર્તાઓ પોતાની પ્રજા પર સત્તાનો પૂર્ણ અમલ કરે છે અને તેમના મોટા માણસો તેમના અધિકારનું લોકોને ભાન કરાવવા ચાહે છે.

²⁵But Jesus summoned them, and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

²⁶પણ તમારી સાથે આ રીતે થવું ન જોઈએ. તમારામાં જે આગેવાન થવા ઈચ્છે તે તમારો સેવક હોવો જોઈએ.

²⁶ It shall not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you shall be TR reads “let him be” instead of “shall be” your servant.

²⁷અને જે સૌથી મોટો થવા ઈચ્છે છે, તેણે એક ગુલામ તરીકે તમારી સેવા કરવી જોઈએ.

²⁷ Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your bondservant,

²⁸તમારે માણસના દીકરા જેવા થવું જોઈએ, માણસનો દીકરો સેવા કરાવવા નહિ પણ સેવા કરવા અને ઘણા લોકોને માટે મુક્તિ મૂલ્ય તરીકે પોતાનું જીવન સમર્પણ કરવા આવ્યો છે.”

²⁸ even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

²⁹જ્યારે ઈસુ અને તેના શિષ્યો યરીખોથી નીકળીને જતા હતા ત્યારે ઘણા લોકો ઈસુને અનુસરતા હતા.

²⁹As they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

³⁰રસ્તાની બાજુએ બે અંધજનો બેઠા હતા. એ રસ્તે થઈને ઈસુ પસાર થાય છે એવું સાંભળીને તેઓ જોરશોરથી બૂમો પાડવા લાગ્યા, “હે પ્રભુ, દાઉદના દીકરા અમારા પર દયા કર!”

³⁰Behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!”

³¹લોકોએ તેઓને ધમકાવીને શાંત રહેવા કહ્યું છતાં તેઓ તો વધારે જોરથી બૂમો પાડતા હતા, “હે પ્રભુ, દાઉદના દીકરા, અમારા પર દયા કર!”

³¹The multitude rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they cried out even more, “Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!”

³²તે સાંભળીને ઈસુ ઊભો રહ્યો અને તેઓને બોલાવીને પૂછયું, “તમે મારી પાસે તમારા માટે શું કરાવવા ઈચ્છો છો?”

³²Jesus stood still, and called them, and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”

³³તેઓએ કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, અમારે દેખતા થવું છે.”

³³They told him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.”

³⁴ઈસુને તેમના પર દયા આવી અને તેઓની આંખોને સ્પર્શ કર્યો. અને તરત જ તેઓ જોઈ શક્યા. અને તેઓ ઈસુની પાછળ ચાલ્યા.

³⁴Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received their sight, and they followed him.
